Chapter 34

Chapter 34
CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

GAGE'S POV

“Will that be all then?” I asked, wanting to wrap the conversation up quickly so I could get back to Indigo.

I still couldn't believe we had spent the night together and she was having breakfast in my room! It all felt like some kind of wild dream to me and I'd savor every single second of it.

There was nothing I could do about the mate bond and the pull she felt towards her three Alphas and that wasn't her fault, but that didn't mean I couldn't try my best to be selfish, to want her more, to keep her all to myself.

There was this wild imagination that if I did exactly that, then maybe she'd stay mine. As the conversation between me and the head elder stretched on it was just more of an opportunity for my mind to wander.

I played back to just how beautiful Indigo looked last night, her soft skin, her aroused scent filled the entire room. Her body frame was small, but she had the smallest waist and thick thighs, making her body all the more curly.

Her long locs scattered around her face and chest as she softly begged for more, her face rosy as I slipped into her wetness. I didn't realize when my breathing became heavy.

“Alpha?” The elders' voice drew me from my thoughts, “Do you agree with that Alpha Gage?”

“Uh—Yes, yes, that's fine.” I hesitated, a bit flustered at my own thoughts. If I wasn't careful I'd just want to take her again. I couldn't be that selfish.

“That will be all then,” the old wolven concluded before retreating.

As I walked back to my quarters, a hurried maid bumped into me. “Hey, hey, what's wrong?” I asked gently with a worried look on my face.

“Alpha,” she called out, a bit startled and scared as she looked around.

“What's wrong, Venalopy?”

“It's the young mistress, I can not find her.”

“Did she wander off again?” My heart sank, the last time Leila wandered off beyond the pack house wasn't pretty. “Look for her with the other maids quickly, I'll also try finding her.”

She nodded quickly and proceeded with her search. Leila was my cousin but I took her as my sister. I took care of her since she was a baby and she was probably the most important person in my life.

After a few minutes of looking for her with still no luck, I thought about Indie and how I should probably tell her about the situation.

I couldn't afford her thinking I had blown her over. When I got to my room and saw Leila with her I couldn't express how relieved I was.

“Leila!” Indie’s eyes shone as I swept Leila into my arms.

“I'm sorry for  her Indie, she's a little adventurer, you really don't have to come.”

“No, I really want to. She seems like a little angel actually and I'd like to spend a little time here.” She said with a smile and my heart swelled up.

“Alright then.”

I was ecstatic, I showed Indigo around the pack house, getting greetings and wry looks here and there. When we finally approached the garden where a picnic spot was arranged for us with food, toys and books Leila liked, Venalopy approached us.

“Everything has been set for you and the little mistress Alpha.” When she noticed someone was by my side she gave a small bow and curtsey. “I haven't seen you around.”

“That's because she isn't from around here. This is Indigo Larkspur my—” I trailed off but Venalopy gave me a knowing look. “And Indie this is Venalopy Ridingal, she's one of our Leila's oldest maids.”

“Pleased to meet you Indigo.” She gave a gentle bow to her again and Indigo smiled a bit embarrassed.

“Where's Leila?”

“She's gone to see her mother again,” she mentioned a bit sad, “the other maids will fetch her once she's done.”

“Thank you Venalopy.” She bowed again then left probably to meet up with the other maids. My chest ached a little and I could tell Indigo noticed from the way she shot curious glances at me.

“Your pack is lovely and everyone is nice.” She complimented as we say waiting for Leila. It was a compliment I should be proud of.

“I always wanted to be an Alpha who leads their pack like a family. I make sure everyone feels seen and heard and I believe everyone deserves a chance as well.” I never wanted to imagine doing things like how my father once did. It was a part of my life I kept under steel locks.

“So—” She hesitated to ask, “Where's Leila's mother? She seems to be very fond of her.”
I knew this question was coming…Indigo was a smart girl after all.

“She's dying.” I said as simply as I could not to get emotional and Indigo's head went snapping.

“My aunt was always very sickly and it just became worse when she gave birth to Leila so I took care of her most of her life.”

“That's so sad…”

“Yeah, so Leila tries to spend as much time as she can with her mum before she finally passes.”

“Does Leila know her mother's dying?”

“We try not to tell her so she can enjoy her childhood but I'm sure she knows. She cries when she thinks no one's watching.”

“Brother!” We both turned at the sound of Leila's voice. She was in Venalopy’s arms waving at us with a huge smile on her face as they approached. Just like me I'm sure Indigo didn't want to see that big smile vanish.

After eating and playing with Leila to her satisfaction, she ended up falling fast asleep and was carried away to her room by the maids.

“Thank you for today.” Indigo smiled as she was prepared to leave with my Delta back to the academy. “Please take care of Leila for me, she's a sweet girl.”

I was sad to let her go but she had school and even I had things to do, without thinking, I drew her close and stole a long lasting kiss. She looked at me with awe and I sent her away at once with a smile.
