Do you like any boy
She likes them. Melody likes his grandparents. His grandmother was nice and caring. They were seated in a private room in the same hotel she and Hunter had lunch the first day she started working with him. The same female hostess welcomed them and this time, Melody got to know her name as Cecilia.
The room was filled with lively chatter from Hunter's grandparents, and Melody had not stopped laughing. It was the same for Hunter, and Melody was glad that she sat opposite him. She had a full view of his face and could not tear her eyes away anytime his lips curved up, or he gave a deep chuckle.
“Where is Rebecca?” Walsh asked as they stood up to leave the restaurant.
“I don't know. She might be at home with her friends or might have gone to see Harrison” Hunter replied as he held the door open for his grandparents and Melody to walk out.
Callista snorted," she might as well start living with him”.
“She is not ready yet. She wants to be done with her school and work for a while before settling down with him”. Hunter told him.
“ She would have been done with her schooling a long time ago, but she chose to travel the world with those friends of hers for a long holiday. I wonder when I will see my great-grandchildren. Maybe when I am dead”. Callista was grumbling under her breath as she stepped out of the restaurant.
“I don't know what Derek and Nomi are doing. Why aren't they hounding you and Rebecca for grandchildren?" Walsh asked Hunter.
“ Because they know that we are busy”.
“You might be busy, but Rebecca isn't. Perhaps I should ask her to stop using protection”. Callista was not really disturbing Hunter to have a child because she knew that Melody would not be ready for such now. All her eyes and focus were on Rebecca.
“Don't even bother with Rebecca. She won't listen, and we all know that”. Hunter told Callista and she huffed before getting into the car.
Hunter was driving and Melody sat in the front passenger seat with him. His grandparents were in the back.
“What about you, Melody? Do you have a boyfriend or someone you like?" Callista asked with a smile on her face.
“ Eh?” Melody looked into the rearview mirror and met Callista's kind eyes. She shook her head negatively, “I don't have a boyfriend”.
“Is there anyone that you like?" Callista asked.
Hunter, who was driving, tensed up at his grandmother's question and his ear perked up. He wanted to hear her reply. He hoped that she had not seen any guy that she liked among Rebecca's friend's.
Melody's eyes darted in the direction of Hunter, who was driving. A tiny pink blush stained her cheeks when she returned her eyes to the rearview mirror and met Callista's eyes, “no''.
Hunter visibly relaxed at her words. Even if she doesn't like him now, at least she did not like anyone else.
“Humm”. Callista hummed before winking at Melody.
Melody looked down as she cursed at herself. She felt she just exposed herself to Callista but she hoped that she thought wrong about the knowing look and wink she received from Callista. Melody felt that it would be bad if anyone finds out about the crush she had on Hunter. Not only was he at least ten years older than she was, he was way above her class and reach.
“You need to go out more and mingle more with people, then maybe you will find a boy that you like”. Walsh told Melody but jumped in the next minute when Callista pinched him and gave him a hard glare.
"Don't mind him. All you have to do now is concentrate on your studies, and I am sure the right man will come at the right time.” Callista advised Melody, to which she nodded.
As the car fell silent, Melody relaxed back on her seat and got lost in her thoughts. Callista was right about her concentrating on her studies. She had to become a bigger and better version of herself. She would be working with Hunter for a long time, and she might watch him get married to another woman who would give birth to his children.
The thought alone was enough to bring tears to her eyes, but she blinked to clear her vision. No need to cry over spilled milk. Like Callista said, the right man would come for her and she doubts that Hunter was the one. He was the first guy she has ever liked but maybe it was because he was kind.
“We would come back home early. Don't worry Grandma, I won't work until late”. Hunter promised his grandmother as both he and Melody stepped out of the car when they got to the front of his company. Hunter's grandparent's driver would be taking them to Hunter's house, as they were planning on staying with him during the time they would be visiting.
“Would your grandparents really be teaching me how to cook?" Melody could not stop herself from asking when she and Hunter got back to his office. She wanted to know if they were serious.
“Yes, you don't want them to teach you?" Hunter asked as he sat down on his seat, he focused all his attention on her. If he notices that she was uncomfortable with his grandparents teaching her, he would ask them not to. Her comfort and happiness was his priority.
Melody gave a small shrug of her shoulder, “not really.” she gave him a vague reply. She thought that his grandparents were nice and she liked them. She never met any of her grandparents, both from her mother and father's side.
The only thing that was making her hesitate was the fact that if they should start teaching her, more pressure of winning the competition would be on her. She already had too many people rooting for her, and she did not want to add more.
“Don't worry. They won't force you to learn from them. If you are not comfortable with it, I will speak with them and find another student for them”. Hunter told her.
Melody's eyes widened a fraction, and she waved her hand, “no I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I like them, but I think that it would be stressful for them to be in the kitchen all the time because they are teaching me how to cook'' she did not want to offend him.
The side of Hunter's lip curled up into a tiny smile at her words about liking his grandparents, “don't worry. It's not going to be stressful, as they both love being in the kitchen and would be there with or without a student to teach. That's settled, they will teach you. You need more knowledge for the competition, which is very close. Come and help me with this”. Hunter pointed at the files on his table.
Melody sighed before getting up to help him.
