Chapter 86 : I Am No Traitor!

Chapter 86 : I Am No Traitor!
Alpha Hemming's POV:

One of the three men who had entered my cell, passed his lantern to one of the others as he reached forward with something in their hands. I looked up, confused as to why they were standing over me. That's when I realized the one man was starting to unlock the chain that bound my wrists up above my head. Did they find what they were looking for? I didn't know if being unchained was a good thing in this instance, as I didn't know if I was even in my own Grand Nation, or not.

When my arms were finally allowed down below the level of my heart, I felt the instant the blood rushed through my veins, and that made them tingle, rather painfully, I might add. It seemed like they had been above my head for what seemed like hours. One man, standing in the middle, took a few steps back from me as he held two lanterns and shone the light so the other two men could see what was happening.

Up to this point, neither of the three had said anything. That's when the man who unlocked my chain started to pull the chain attached to my wrists as they all started to walk away, pulling on the chain connected to my wrists right there, along with them. I didn't bother to put up a fight with them, but raised my arms willingly, as they pulled me up to a position where I was on my knees now.

I figured I would know soon what they wanted. Again, they all came around me and gave me another look. I had to squint my eyes slightly as the light was all I could see. I didn't know what they wanted from me, but I was willing to follow them out of here. In the back of my mind, I was a bit reluctant about this entire situation.

The fact that I couldn't reach my Wolf concerned me most of all. Not many things had the ability to prevent werewolves from communicating with their Wolves inside. It was one thing to prevent them from talking to each other, but the Wolf inside the back of our minds was a different thing altogether.

I did not know what would happen when I followed them out of the cell, but I didn't want to make things worse for myself if I chose not to go with them willingly when that time came. That's when two of the men walked around to stand on either side of me and assisted me up to my feet. Still, there had to be a reason as to why they chose me out of everyone else chained up in this dimly lit cell, anyway.

"If you tell them anything, you're a dead man!" I heard a voice yell from across the way in the cell I was about to walk out of.

One of the men, who was standing next to me, walked over to where the voice came from and raised something in his hand. I heard the air as he swung this object in his hand really hard. We could all hear the impact when the object hit the one Warrior. I couldn't see it, but we all knew it hit something right before we heard the rustling of chains. Well, I'm guessing they didn't like his former comment. That's one way to put someone out of their misery for a moment.

If they were carrying something like this, and I didn't even know it, the last thing I wanted to do was speak up out of turn. I don't exactly know who spoke, but apparently, I'm guessing by the sudden silence, the one who hit him did.

Just then, one of the other men started to pull on the chain guiding me toward the entrance of the cell. I tried to steady my feet, as sitting in that position for a long time can throw off your balance when you get up on your own feet and off your knees. It was a relief, as my knees were sore from the brief moment they were being ground into the gravel dirt floor. Once we were out of the cell, the corridor was still very dimly lit. It was still hard to see much of anything. If it weren't for their lantern light, you couldn't see much of anything at all.

As we walked along, no one bothered to say anything. I don't recall being brought down here, so I didn't have a clue as to where 'here' was. I also noticed that when we walked away from the cell, we didn't head in the same direction they may have come from, either. They were heading in a completely opposite direction.

Once we reached the end of the corridor, we took several stairs to an upper level that turned around several corners. However, the further we walked, the brighter it became. At one point on the round staircase, they stopped. There was a ledge made into the side of the wall. That's where the three of them placed the lanterns. They even left them burning as we continued walking on past.

This was new, I thought. We had a dungeon back at my pack house, but ours had lights, not lanterns to see everything by. Guess that must be a scare tactic, or something like it. I would say that it was definitely working. We had vehicles in my day, among other commodities. It also made you second-guess the year. It sure made me think these individuals didn't have access to something like electricity.

We made our way to the brighter hallway where there was actual light. I was still bound by the chains connecting each of my wrists together. The floors were still stone, although you could see where you were headed. The three men I was following did not turn to look at me as we continued walking, either. There were two men in front of me, and the one holding the chain walked beside me as he firmly held the chain in his free hand. I guess they trusted me enough not to try to escape, not that I knew how to get out of here, of course.

When we walked out into the openness of this new corridor, everything was much brighter. The walls had pillars to support the ceiling and everything. The ceiling had to be at least two stories high, too. Soon, we made our way to a side room in this new corridor. One of the men in front opened up the heavy wooden door, leading into the room.

Once we all walked inside, there was a single metal pole sticking up out of the floor in the center of the room. At the top of the metal pole was a single hole where a small chain hung freely. At the end, there was a large lock. I was guided over to the pole, and the chain that bound my wrists was attached to the new, smaller chain. I guess I had to stand instead of being on my knees. What's next?
