Chapter 94

Chapter 94

"Nothing wrong?" Gavin chuckled softly, stepping closer to her, his gaze falling on her swollen cheek. "It doesn't look that way. Did someone mess with you?"

Amara bit her lip, humiliation and anger surging back, her eyes reddening again. "It was that bitch Catherine! She... she hit me!"

"That idiot?" Gavin feigned surprise, then his expression shifted to one of understanding. "Seems like some people aren't as simple as they appear," he said, hinting at something deeper.

His words struck a chord with Amara. She immediately found resonance, speaking indignantly, "She's just pretending to be dumb! She's been fooling us all along! Now that she's married to Richard, she's showing her true colors!"

"Pretending to be dumb..." Gavin repeated thoughtfully, then looked at Amara, his tone seductive. "Being humiliated like this, are you just gonna let it slide, Ms. Spencer?"

Amara froze, and hatred ignited in her eyes. "Let it go? No way! I will make her pay!"

"Making her pay might be tough on your own," Gavin said slowly. "After all, she's now Richard's wife."

Amara's face darkened. Yes, Catherine's status had changed.

"But..." Gavin's tone shifted, leaning in closer, his voice low and enticing, "What if someone helped you?"

Amara's head snapped up, hope and doubt flickering in her eyes. "You... what do you mean?"

"I mean," Gavin's gaze deepened, "the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I don't like Catherine and Richard either. Maybe we can work together, give you a chance for revenge."

Amara's heart pounded. Gavin's proposal was tempting, but it also made her uneasy.

Gavin saw her hesitation, gently brushing his fingers over her swollen cheek, his touch ambiguous.

"You're a smart girl, you should know that opportunities don't come around often." His fingertips were cool, making Amara's body tense.

His proximity carried a strong masculine presence, mixed with a hint of dangerous allure. Amara looked at his handsome yet slightly sinister face, thinking of the humiliation Catherine had just inflicted on her and her long-suppressed ambitions. The balance in her heart began to tilt.

"How do you want to cooperate?" Amara's voice trembled slightly.

Gavin smiled, satisfied.

The fish had taken the bait.

The night deepened, and it was in a secluded room.

The air was thick with an ambiguous atmosphere. Amara, disheveled, leaned against the sofa, her face flushed from their recent intimacy, her eyes confused and uneasy.

Gavin adjusted his collar, walked to the liquor cabinet, poured two glasses of red wine, and handed one to Amara. "To calm your nerves."

Amara took the glass, sipping the spicy liquid that slid down her throat, clearing her mind a bit. She looked at Gavin, who had just been intimate with her, feeling a mix of emotions.

She knew she was making a deal with the devil, but to get revenge on Catherine, and escape her current predicament, she had no choice.

"Now, can you tell me your plan?" Amara asked.

Gavin swirled his wine, the crimson liquid leaving traces on the glass.

"It's simple."

He sat beside Amara, his arm casually draped over the sofa back, enclosing her in his space.

"Behind the Smith Villa, there's a mountain with great views, but some spots are pretty isolated. In a few days, find a way to get Catherine to the platform at the top."

"What do you want her there for?" Amara asked, her voice tinged with suspicion.

Gavin's smile turned cold. "Once she's there, someone will 'handle' her. You just need to get her there, the rest isn't your problem."

Amara's heart sank. "Handle"? She wasn't naive; she could sense the malice in his words. This was no harmless prank.

"What do I get out of this?" Amara steadied herself, focusing on the most important question. After her impulsive decision, she needed to ensure the best outcome for herself.

"What do you want?" Gavin asked, unfazed by her pragmatism.

Amara took a deep breath, her eyes flashing with desperate resolve. "I want to marry you! Only then can I truly surpass Catherine and make my mother proud!"

Gavin looked at her, a hint of mockery in his eyes, quickly masked by a smile. "No problem," he answered unusually quickly. "As long as you get the job done, I'll marry you."

The promise was so easily given, it settled Amara's heart. She could already envision herself as Gavin's wife, stepping over Catherine in triumph.

"Alright! I agree!" Amara raised her glass, downing the remaining wine in one gulp, as if to bolster her courage.

Gavin watched her, his smile deepening, yet cold as ice. A woman blinded by jealousy and ambition was the perfect pawn.

In the corner of the Spencer Villa garden, a few late cherry blossoms were in full bloom, their pink-white petals falling gently.

Amara leaned against a cherry blossom tree, playing with a wolf-tooth whistle that glinted coldly but still carried a hint of wildness.

She saw Catherine squatting nearby, seemingly occupied with something.

Amara's lips curled into a sneer, walking over and deliberately waving the wolf tooth whistle in front of Catherine. "Hey, Catherine, check this out."

Catherine rolled her eyes, then looked up blankly, her gaze falling on the whistle. Her usually vacant eyes flashed sharply for a moment, so quickly it seemed like an illusion.

She reached out, seemingly wanting to touch it, mumbling, "Tooth... tooth..."

"Want it?" Amara's smile grew more smug, pulling the whistle back. "This is a good thing, I found it with great effort. You like running to the back mountain, right? Maybe there are more 'teeth' there."

Catherine's gaze followed the whistle intently, completely captivated, her steps moving with Amara.

Seeing this, Amara's eyes gleamed with calculation. She turned towards the back mountain, deliberately slowing her pace to keep Catherine hooked.

Catherine followed, like a stubborn child chasing a beloved toy.

Soon, they reached the entrance to the back mountain. The area was usually deserted, and the entrance was overgrown, giving it a sinister feel.

Amara stopped, looking back at the panting Catherine, her face showing a mischievous smile. She suddenly raised her hand, the wolf tooth whistle drawing a silver arc in the air, flying into the dense woods.

"Want it? Go fetch it yourself!"
