Chapter 95 Whose Husband
Chris didn't actually think Joanna would be that petty.
But Cynthia's fear wasn't completely unreasonable either.
After thinking it over, he frowned at Joanna: "What are you doing at the tailor shop anyway?"
A clueless employee spoke up: "Miss Jones came to order clothes—two men's outfits and one women's outfit."
Yvonne quickly glared at her: "Didn't I tell you not to reveal customer privacy? Apologize to Joanna right now, or you're out of here!"
The employee got scared, her eyes turning red as she looked at Joanna and kept apologizing.
Joanna wasn't the type to bully the weak. Her slight anger disappeared after hearing the apologies.
Just as she was about to forgive her, Cynthia spoke up again: "Miss Jones, you're being too harsh. This employee didn't do anything wrong. Do you really need to make her lose her job?"
Joanna had had enough and walked straight toward Cynthia.
With each step Joanna took, Cynthia backed up one step, covering her belly as if Joanna was going to hurt her.
Yvonne felt like rolling her eyes.
Such terrible acting—she couldn't believe anyone would be blind enough to fall for it!
But there was actually someone there who did.
Chris immediately held out his hand to block Joanna: "What are you doing? Cynthia is pregnant, and you're the one who asked for the divorce. Even if you hurt her baby, I still won't remarry you!"
Joanna let out a cold laugh: "Thanks, but I don't want to remarry you either. I just wanted to say that Cynthia, maybe you should see a neurologist when you have time—you're always imagining people are out to get you and your baby. I don't have time to help you two strengthen your marriage. Stay out of my sight and I can have some peace."
"As for this employee, I never blamed him in the first place. As a service provider, he revealed my order details—shouldn't an apology be expected? Cynthia, at your company, would you forgive interns who steal your designs and sell them to others?"
Cynthia's face turned ugly with anger, unable to respond.
She bit her lower lip, playing the victim.
Chris couldn't bear to see it: "Come on, Cynthia just misunderstood you. Do you need to say such harsh things to scare her?"
"Just a misunderstanding? Wasn't she making things up and falsely accusing me of bullying the weak? If it were more serious, I could sue her for slander, you know?" Joanna almost couldn't resist rolling her eyes.
Chris clenched his jaw: "Can't you just talk nicely? Joanna, you're getting more and more out of line!"
"That's none of your business, ex-husband!" Joanna shot back. "I'm not in the mood to argue with you. Move!"
Her tone was sharp, and Chris instinctively stepped back.
Then he watched Joanna walk away without looking back.
Cynthia said tearfully: "I'm sorry Chris, I misunderstood Miss Jones and made her misunderstand you even more. I should find a chance to apologize to her. Even though you're divorced, when we get married, I'd really like to have her blessing."
Yvonne, who had been quietly listening, almost cursed out loud.
What did she mean?
A homewrecker steals someone's husband and wants her blessing for the wedding?
Was she kidding!
She secretly rolled her eyes, then came over with a smile to serve them.
"You two, the order you sent before is already being made. Is there a problem?"
Cynthia controlled her expression and said: "I just thought of a few details I'd like to add. Is it too late?"
Yvonne was genuinely angry now.
The clothes were almost finished, and now she wanted to add details?
As someone who designs clothes herself, didn't she know whether there was time or not?
She almost wanted to slap Cynthia to express her anger.
But in the service industry, you have to smile.
Yvonne calmed herself down and asked about the modifications.
"I don't want the fabric we originally chose anymore. I want to change it." Cynthia's tone was casual.
"...That's not possible."
"Your service is terrible!" Cynthia said unhappily. "Chris, let's not do it here. Let's go somewhere else!"
Now Yvonne's face really turned cold.
She said directly to Chris: "Mr. Cooper, you paid a deposit before. Now that the clothes are almost finished and you're breaking the contract, we won't refund that money."
In fact, Yvonne even wanted to ask for compensation for emotional distress!
Hearing this, Cynthia immediately became unhappy: "What! You keep the money, fine, but you must finish making the clothes for me. That's my design work—what if you sell it?"
Yvonne rolled her eyes: "We have professional ethics. We won't sell this piece, but we will donate it normally."
"No way! This is a design I created. You can't use it for anything without authorization!" Cynthia panicked.
Arguing in the studio was something Chris found embarrassing.
His face darkened, but his mind was recalling how Joanna would have handled this situation.
She probably would have let the studio complete the work as scheduled, then ordered another piece in a different fabric, and alternated between the two.
That way, there'd be no trouble.
Chris impatiently interrupted them: "Enough. Continue with the order, I'll pay you the balance."
Yvonne instantly dropped her confrontational attitude and said calmly: "Alright, Mr. Cooper."
Then she went to instruct the staff to make the clothes.
No one else in the shop bothered to serve these two people, their attitude extremely dismissive.
Chris didn't think much of it, but Cynthia was furious.
She grabbed Chris's arm and shook it: "Chris, this shop is close to Joanna, they definitely don't like us. We should really go somewhere else. These are our wedding outfits—I don't want them to sabotage them."
Chris glanced at her and pulled his arm away: "If you don't trust this shop, then find another place to make your wedding dress design. Keep both sets, and when they're done, we can wear whichever one, right?"
Problems that money could solve—why make it so complicated?
Besides, breaking a contract was unethical on their part to begin with.
Even in business, he would find such contract violations annoying and disgusting.
Cynthia didn't know what Chris was thinking, but she could tell his attitude was firm about not changing shops, and she felt even more resentful.
Did Chris mean she wasn't taking good care of him?
Why couldn't he even let her have her way about ordering wedding outfits? Why did they have to come to Joanna's favorite shop!
Did he even know whose husband he was?
