Chapter 89 Joanna Has a Boyfriend?

Chapter 89 Joanna Has a Boyfriend?

Joanna thought for a moment and asked carefully, "What would Mom do?"

Sandra seemed to understand what she meant. She looked sadly out the window, her gaze finally settling on the vase.

She smiled and said, "I want to help him, but when I think about how he never came to see me when I was sick, it breaks my heart. Joanna, do you think everyone's fate is already decided? That the wrong things he did will eventually come back to him?"

Joanna thought for two seconds, then lifted her head seriously and shared her thoughts: "No matter whether my relationship with him is good or bad, as his daughter, if he did something wrong, I'd definitely want to help. But if what he did hurt others and made some people lose their friends, family, or partners, then I think my dad should pay the price for that."

She wasn't sure what that gray project was about, so she couldn't be too absolute in her words.

If Henry really did something terrible, as his daughter, she'd be willing to fulfill her duty, but she wouldn't help blindly.

That wouldn't be fair to the victims.

Joanna spoke so seriously that Sandra fell silent for a long time, also lost in thought.

She had originally wanted to tell Joanna something, but now she hesitated and decided not to. She'd wait until she investigated things clearly before telling Joanna.

She hoped Henry hadn't done anything evil.

After staying at the hospital for a while and waiting for Sandra to fall asleep, Joanna left.

She remembered she had to go with Fiona to pick out a wedding dress, so she went to bed early.

When she arrived near the bridal shop, Fiona was running a bit late because she went to buy coffee, so Joanna waited at the entrance.

She looked at the wedding dresses in the shop, her eyes showing envy.

When she married Chris back then, the wedding dress was rented at the last minute and wasn't the style she liked.

From the wedding dress to the wedding photos, Chris had refused everything, using work as an excuse. At the time, Joanna comforted herself: Chris is just too busy, he'll make time for photos after the wedding.

But she waited year after year and never got those photos.

Probably every girl dreams of wearing a wedding dress and marrying the man she loves. Not wearing a wedding dress or taking real wedding photos from her marriage was one of her regrets from three years ago.

"Joanna!" Fiona called to her from nearby.

Joanna had just looked up when she saw a man sitting in the shop. His black suit brought out his presence, he wore gold-rimmed glasses, and he was turning to look at her through the window.

Chris!

What was he doing here?

Joanna was confused for a moment. If Fiona hadn't called her, she would have stayed in a daze much longer.

"Joanna, do you know that person?" Fiona asked.

Joanna looked away. "Yes... he's my ex-husband. Fiona, is this the shop you booked? I might not be comfortable going in..."

Although she already knew Chris would marry Cynthia, seeing him personally accompanying Cynthia to pick out a wedding dress still made Joanna uncomfortable, bringing up a desire to escape.

She knew this wasn't right, but she couldn't control her feelings.

So Chris didn't lack time to take wedding photos—it was just that the person taking them with him wasn't her.

"I already paid the deposit, I can't get it back. I'm sorry Joanna, I didn't know this would put you in such an awkward situation. Your ex-husband hasn't even gotten the divorce certificate yet, and he's already getting married? That fast?" Fiona looked guilty.

Joanna smiled. "It's not your fault. He's getting married so soon because Cynthia is pregnant. Any later and she might not fit into a wedding dress."

Fiona knew Joanna had divorced because of relationship problems, but she didn't expect there was also a cheating jerk and a pregnant mistress involved.

She felt angry on Joanna's behalf: "What a disgusting terrible man, that's so unfair to you! Come on, you're trying on wedding dresses with me. I'll help you get back at him!"

"Okay!" This was the first time Joanna felt protected, and she was genuinely happy.

Why should she be the one to run away? Chris and Cynthia were the ones who did wrong.

The two of them quickly went inside, just as Chris was coming out to check if the person standing outside was Joanna.

Fiona wasn't friendly at all and pushed past: "Excuse me, don't block the way!"

Chris looked at Joanna: "What are you doing here? Don't tell me you regret it and don't want to divorce me. Joanna, I have something very important today, I don't have time for your nonsense."

Before Joanna could speak, Fiona cut in: "What does Joanna have to regret? She just dumped a jerk, that's all! Who said we came looking for you? We have our own appointment, okay!"

This bridal shop was large, the best brand in Austin City, and very expensive.

There were many staff members, so while someone was helping Chris and his companion pick out wedding dresses, other employees could also help Fiona and Joanna.

Today was just a coincidence, not a planned encounter.

Chris felt a bit embarrassed. Before he could say anything, Cynthia had picked out a dress to try on and called from a distance: "Chris, how does this one look? Help me choose, will you?"

He quickly left.

Fiona rolled her eyes in the direction Chris went, her disdain obvious: "He's so full of himself!"

Joanna smiled. She was used to Chris's way of thinking.

She took Fiona's arm and said, "Come on, your wedding is what matters most. Let's quickly pick a beautiful wedding dress that'll blow your husband's mind."

Fiona laughed and pulled Joanna along to look.

They didn't forget what they'd said at the entrance, so when choosing wedding dresses, they also picked out two for Joanna.

After some hesitation, Joanna took one to the fitting room.

In the fitting room next door, Cynthia was having the staff adjust her train.

In the mirror, she looked incredibly beautiful. The dress showed off her figure, and her straight posture elevated her presence even more, making the staff envious.

"You and your husband have such a good relationship. Many women come to pick wedding dresses with friends or their mother-in-law, but your husband values you so much. Your life together will definitely be happy."

Cynthia was pleased by the compliment. Noticing her makeup had smudged a bit, she said, "Help me touch up my makeup. I'll give you a nice tip when we're done."

The staff was happy to help and immediately had her sit down for touch-ups.

Once she was ready, the staff opened the door, letting Chris, who was waiting outside, see Cynthia in her wedding dress.

At the same time, the door next to them also opened.

Two women in wedding dresses walked out at the same time—one with elaborate makeup, one with just simple everyday makeup.

But Chris and the shop staff couldn't help looking at Joanna.

Cynthia was indeed beautiful, but standing next to Joanna, she could only be an afterthought.

"Joanna! You look gorgeous! Too bad your boyfriend isn't here, or his jaw would drop!" Fiona exclaimed dramatically.

Chris's amazed expression froze, his hand slowly clenching into a fist.

Joanna had a boyfriend?

Was she here trying on wedding dresses today because they were getting married too?
