Chapter 62 My Good Fortune Is Meeting You
"She woke up, I saw it with my own eyes! But not long after, Joanna made her pass out again."
Chad snorted coldly and sent him the address.
Looking at the address on his phone, Henry felt somewhat comforted: "Good that your mom's awake. With her around, Joanna won't dare to disobey. She's most afraid of her mother. These two are both idiots - say a few nice words and they'll obediently serve me."
He smiled smugly, finding Chad a bit more tolerable now.
After getting the equity agreement, the first thing Joanna did was have Peter review it, confirm the contract was valid, and then handle the follow-up procedures.
When the busy work was done, the excellent manager Angelo had found for her also arrived.
The interview wasn't arranged at Jones Corp, but at a café near the company.
Joanna had previously been a job seeker submitting resumes to various companies. Suddenly becoming the interviewer, she still felt a bit uncomfortable.
Fortunately, Angelo was with her.
"Don't be nervous. This person is a friend I met in college who also studied financial management. Although Jones Corp hasn't had profitable projects these years, the situation isn't as bad as you think. Once he arrives and you hear how professional his plans are for Jones Corp's future, you'll feel at ease."
Joanna nodded, indeed feeling less nervous.
The person Angelo found had previously worked in management at several small companies, but because he was too young, he kept getting blocked from promotion.
His abilities were truly excellent. In just ten minutes, he demonstrated his professional competence, winning Joanna over.
"Lyle Warner, I don't think we need to continue. I'm very comfortable leaving the company in your hands. Your ideas about Jones Corp's future direction are right. I don't need you to make the company brilliant or powerful, just don't let it get eliminated by the market. As long as it can grow steadily and be worthy of the shareholders' investment, that's enough."
Lyle's attitude was confident as he raised his eyebrows: "Don't worry, Ms. Jones. Just wait to see the annual report!"
Joanna said with a smile: "Good, then I'll have someone arrange your onboarding."
After Lyle left, Joanna couldn't hide her excitement: "Angelo! The people you find are all so excellent!"
Whether it was Peter, Dr. Bruce, or Lyle whom she met today.
She was a bit envious that Angelo knew so many excellent and professional talents.
Angelo gazed at her with a light smile, his voice magnetic and deep: "Yes, the people I choose are all excellent, including you."
One sentence made Joanna's face heat up.
Only then did she remember that she too was a talent discovered by Angelo.
She smiled a bit embarrassedly, "It's your good eye and ability. Meeting you is my good fortune."
The two weren't sitting far apart. The moment the words landed, Angelo clearly heard his own heartbeat.
This sentence - he wanted to say the same thing to Joanna.
But Joanna, just wounded in her marriage, was too sensitive. If he said this, she'd probably avoid him again.
So Angelo only gazed at her affectionately, then quietly added in his heart:
Joanna, meeting you is my good fortune.
With the Jones Corp matter resolved, Joanna finally felt at ease. She returned to work at the hospital and occasionally had time to visit Sandra.
After being upset by Chad's words and passing out, Joanna was actually afraid Sandra would bring it up again, but Sandra seemed to have forgotten - she hadn't mentioned it once since waking up.
If Henry and Chad hadn't come looking for her, Joanna would have almost forgotten about them.
Henry brought some milk and tossed it by Sandra's bed, asking: "You're awake? What did the doctor say about when your illness will get better?"
Sandra lowered her eyes and calmly described her physical condition: "I just woke up, it doesn't mean the cancer is cured. The follow-up treatment costs are even more substantial."
"Don't expect me to pay!" Hearing this, Henry immediately stated his position.
But feeling it was too harsh, he tried to remedy it: "The company has too many places that need money. It's not that I don't want to treat your illness, it's that Joanna won't let Chad and me take care of you. She even secretly transferred you to another hospital without telling us. Honey, Joanna is getting more and more disobedient as she grows up. Now that you're awake, you can't let her continue like this!"
Sandra nodded perfunctorily but didn't actually agree.
These past few days she'd seen Joanna's efforts. Although she was somewhat dissatisfied with Joanna ignoring the family, Joanna wasn't being disobedient or unreasonable.
Perhaps Joanna was just too tired. Working while paying for her treatment, Joanna's energy was exhausted - where would she have time to maintain family relationships?
Seeing Sandra's silence, Henry was somewhat dissatisfied. He sat on the edge of the bed and pushed her further in.
"You don't know how outrageous Joanna has been. Now she's even fighting with Chad over the company, forcing me to sign an equity agreement before letting people release me! She won't listen to anything I say, and things with Mr. Cooper are very ugly. Who will dare to marry her in the future?"
Sandra frowned: "If she's going to marry out, why does she want company shares?"
Henry speculated maliciously: "Isn't it because she thinks we're biased and gave all the good things to Chad? She's unwilling!"
Sandra didn't speak, but in her heart she felt it wasn't like that.
Joanna had no interest in the company before. Managing the company was exhausting - just let Chad do it. After marriage, Joanna would take care of the household, serve her husband, in-laws, and children. As a full-time housewife, where would she have time and energy to manage the company?
Maybe she should still try to persuade Joanna?
Just then, Joanna brought chicken soup for Sandra. When she came in and saw Henry, her face turned cold.
"Who told you to come? Did Chad give you the address?"
Henry sneered: "The person lying here is my wife. Why can't I come? Joanna, isn't managing the company enough for you? Now you want to control me too?"
Where in the world was there a father as pathetic as him?
The more Henry thought about it, the more indignant he became.
Joanna walked right over, put the chicken soup on the table, then reached out and pulled Henry, dragging his butt off the bed.
"The bed is only so big, my mom is the patient, you were practically pushing her off the bed!"
She complained dissatisfied, then arranged the pillows for Sandra and handed her the chicken soup to drink.
Henry originally wanted to get angry, but seeing Sandra's pale face, he felt a bit guilty and used his eyes to signal Sandra to speak up for him.
Sandra took a sip of the chicken soup. The taste was rich and fragrant, exactly like what she used to make.
She asked softly: "Your dad said you kicked him and Chad out of the company? Joanna, can you tell me what you're thinking?"
"Does Mom think I did something wrong?" Joanna looked up.
Although Sandra's tone hadn't gotten heavier, Joanna heard that implication and unconsciously gripped the blanket on the bed tighter.
