Chapter 110 He Came to Back Her Up
Why did Angelo show up?
Joanna was supposed to treat Angelo to dinner too, but she owed him so much that she thought it would be better to invite him separately.
She didn't expect Angelo to hear about it today and come on his own.
She was a bit surprised.
Dr. Lawson sighed, "There are no private rooms left. I'm afraid we won't be able to eat here today. We were just discussing where else to go."
Angelo raised an eyebrow and saw the hotel manager approaching from a distance.
Standing beside him was Cynthia's father, Chase.
"Chris has reserved the entire hotel today. You guys need to leave now and don't ruin our dining experience!"
Angelo calmly asked, "What kind of guest would make such a large hotel turn away all other business and accept a full reservation?"
Before the hotel manager could speak, Chase spoke up again, "What's it to you? Chris has already gone to pick someone up. When you leave, remember to use the back door!"
Joanna never expected Chris to talk like this.
Before Angelo could say anything, Chris came over with his business partner.
Coincidentally, Angelo knew this partner too.
With his sharp business sense, he quickly figured out what industry Chris was getting into.
Medical aesthetics.
An industry with mixed reviews that, while highly profitable in the long run, was prone to problems.
Since he wasn't close to Chris and they even had a hostile relationship, Angelo didn't plan to warn him.
He just calmly watched as the business partner and hotel manager rushed forward to talk to him.
"Mr. Smith? I didn't expect to see you here. Are you here for dinner too?"
The partner's name was Martin Collins. He had met Angelo once at a charity event but they hadn't talked much.
Angelo just shook his head regretfully, "Unfortunately, the place has been reserved today, and it seems we hospital staff aren't welcome."
The hotel manager's face immediately showed embarrassment, and he quickly explained, "Mr. Smith, you've misunderstood. Actually, we haven't cleared out the other guests yet. If I had known earlier that you and Miss Jones were together, I definitely wouldn't have agreed to the reservation, no matter how much money was offered!"
Chase was stunned and asked unhappily, "What do you mean? Isn't Chris paying enough? Your hotel is too greedy. Just name your price!"
The hotel manager glared at Chase, his internal cursing almost spilling out.
How could he dare offend Angelo?
No amount of money was worth turning away such a valued customer as Angelo!
Although Chris was also unhappy with Chase's presumption, the hotel manager's attitude at this moment made him lose face.
He coughed and said, "Sorry, Mr. Smith, today really isn't convenient. I need to host Martin, so I can't invite you to stay for dinner."
Martin immediately said, "No problem, no problem. Let's have Mr. Smith stay and eat with us. I actually have some questions I'd like to ask Mr. Smith. We're both doing business in Austin City, so there will be plenty of opportunities to work together!"
Before Angelo could speak, the hotel manager immediately made his position clear, "No, I think Martin and Mr. Cooper have misunderstood. Actually, we're not going to reserve the venue for Mr. Cooper today. Since Mr. Smith is here, our hotel will naturally devote all our attention to serving him. I apologize, and we'll refund your deposit normally."
Chase's eyes widened, and he stepped forward to grab the hotel manager's collar, "What do you mean? You're kicking us out? Paying a deposit means we signed a contract. How can you break it at the last minute!"
Martin's expression also looked somewhat unpleasant.
Not to mention Chris—he felt like today was the worst day ever.
Not only was he rejected by Joanna, but Cynthia's father had caused all this trouble.
What should have been a simple dinner with Martin had become such a mess!
He was starting to wonder if Chase could really have raised a daughter like Cynthia.
Chris looked impatient, but his eyes also looked at the hotel manager, wanting an explanation.
The hotel manager straightened up and said, "This hotel is under Mr. Smith's name."
As soon as he finished speaking, Angelo also looked confused.
Joanna didn't expect to have picked a hotel under Angelo's name, and she and her colleagues all looked at him in surprise.
Angelo asked, "I don't remember this hotel being under my name."
The hotel manager smiled and said, "It was originally under your mother's name. She said it was to celebrate you finding a girlfriend, so she gave it to you."
Angelo was so startled he coughed, afraid Joanna would misunderstand, and quickly explained, "That... my mom just made up an excuse to hand over business matters to me. Don't read too much into it."
Joanna nodded, "It's okay, Angelo. If you really have found a girlfriend, that's your private business. Dr. Lawson and I will keep it confidential!"
Angelo felt a bit down.
He glared at the hotel manager with a resentful tone, "Hurry up and deal with this mess. We're going to the private room first."
The hotel manager wiped the sweat from his forehead and quickly agreed.
After Angelo took Joanna and the others away, the situation was finally brought under control.
When Cynthia and her mother Mireille were kicked out, they were both angry and confused.
"What's going on? Chris reserved the whole hotel. Why are you kicking me out?"
When she saw Chris, she rushed over full of grievance, "Chris, what's happening?"
Chris didn't want to talk, and Chase looked guilty.
Smart Cynthia quickly realized that Chase must have done something wrong and made Chris lose face.
She quickly let go and put on a dignified look, "Since you don't want to talk about it, forget it. Chris, let's eat somewhere else today. This hotel's service is terrible—kicking out customers! We booked our private room in advance, so they must compensate us three times the amount!"
Chris found his way out and snorted coldly, "This hotel's service is indeed terrible. Martin, let's go somewhere else to discuss business."
Martin was disappointed that he didn't get to connect with Angelo.
But his main purpose today was to discuss cooperation with Chris, so he didn't dwell on it and went with Chris to another place to talk.
As for Cynthia, she took her parents to Hillside Villa and threw a big tantrum.
"What's wrong with you two? Didn't I tell you that things are different here than abroad? Put away your arrogant attitudes! Chris is already stressed about work. If this affects our wedding plans, I'll never acknowledge you again!"
Chase was startled and quickly tried to appease her, "Dear daughter, I was wrong. The main thing is, when we met abroad last time, I thought you had Chris wrapped around your finger and he listened to you. I didn't expect your life here to be like this. Do you really have to choose him?"
Cynthia said with red eyes, "I've liked Chris since I was little, and I still do! He has to be mine. Besides, Chris is so outstanding—could you possibly find anyone better than him?"
