Chapter 336

Chapter 336

On the morning of the third day, Tristan’s mother left for her usual dance class, followed by grocery shopping. Not long after, Gloria came out too.

Gloria hailed a cab at the residential complex entrance and went to a breakfast shop in an alley.

Tristan quickly followed.

Tristan had been a scout, so tailing someone was a piece of cake for him. As long as he wanted to follow, Gloria would never notice.

Gloria entered the breakfast shop, where a man was sitting.

The man tried to restrain himself at first, but when he saw her, he said, "You're finally here. I've missed you like crazy these past few days."

"I missed you too, but my mother-in-law has been watching me closely, so I couldn't get out."

"That husband of yours who can't have kids went back to the base?"

"Yeah, he's gone."

The man ordered her a sandwich and a glass of milk. While she was eating, he said, "Why don't you leave him and come back to be with me?"

Gloria tapped him with her utensils. "Are you stupid? I'm already legally married to him. Our child will live in the city, be a soldier's kid, and have access to all kinds of resources. Besides, even though I have a husband, does that kind of husband really count? He barely comes home a few times a year. As long as you're still in Cloud Town, I'm still yours, aren't I?"

"Sigh, look at me. I'm being silly." The man started feeding Gloria the sandwich.

Gloria felt a bit embarrassed at first. "I'm a grown woman, and you're still feeding me."

"Just let me feed you. I haven't seen you in so many days, and I also want... I want sex."

"Well... after we finish breakfast, let's take a walk by the lake. There's a grove of trees there."

"Your mother-in-law won't find out, will she?"

"How would she? She dances until 11 o'clock. I'm actually pretty happy with this life right now. Someone cooks for me, gives me money, I eat well and sleep well every day, and I can see you whenever I want. Our future kid will go to a military elementary school, then a top middle school, and will definitely succeed."

"But when I think about him calling someone else dad, it bothers me."

"As long as the child has a good life, does it matter who he calls dad?" Gloria glared at him. "After I have this one, I'm going to have another. They can afford to raise them anyway. Just wait to be a cheap dad."

Outside, Tristan's face turned pale with anger.

......

Gloria came back at noon.

Usually at this time, Mrs. Lang would have already prepared the meal, and you could smell the food from the doorway.

But when she came back today, she couldn't smell any food.

Puzzled, she stepped inside.

She saw Mrs. Lang and Tristan both sitting inside, their faces cold.

At that moment, Gloria's heart jumped to her throat. She had a vague bad feeling.

"Tristan, you—you went back to the base, didn't you? How come you're back so soon today?"

When Mrs. Lang saw her, she wanted to tear her apart.

"You shameless woman!" Mrs. Lang slapped her thigh, startling Gloria.

"What? What did I do?"

"Tell the truth, whose child is in your belly?" Mrs. Lang demanded sternly.

"Isn't it? Isn't it Tristan's?" Gloria asked, trembling.

Tristan spoke up. "Is it? Gloria, I'm warning you in advance. After this child is born, I'm going to do a paternity test. If it's not my child, I'll sue you. You know military marriages are protected by law. Your behavior could land you in jail, and I won't acknowledge the child either!"

"Jai? Jail?" Gloria suddenly panicked.

Mrs. Lang was so angry she grabbed Gloria by the collar. "All this time, I've treated you with all my heart, but what about you? How did you repay me? You have another man outside. You've hurt Tristan so badly!"

Gloria looked at Tristan again and saw not a trace of emotion in his eyes—just a frightening coldness.

She finally broke down crying. "Auntie, I really don't know. I slept with both Tristan and my fellow townsman. Anyway, I'm pregnant, but I don't know whose child it is."

"You bastard!" Mrs. Lang couldn't help but slap Gloria across the face.

But Mrs. Lang still held onto a shred of hope. She turned to Tristan and said, "Tristan, what if this child is yours? Why don't we wait until she gives birth before we decide?"

Tristan said coldly, "Mom, I've already been to the hospital for tests. My chances of normal fertility are extremely low. In other words, the one who's infertile is me. Otherwise, why would Britney get pregnant right after leaving me?"

Mrs. Lang refused to believe this result. "Nonsense! It was clearly Britney who couldn't have children. It's not your fault at all!"

Tristan said helplessly and angrily, "Mom, Britney is already pregnant. Isn't that proof enough? I have the hospital test results. You can read. If you still don't believe it, you can ask the doctor yourself!"

Mrs. Lang completely broke down. She looked at Gloria and tried to hit her again. "It's all your fault! If it weren't for you, I would still have a daughter-in-law. She and Tristan were together for almost 10 years!"

Gloria felt extremely wronged. "This is my fault, that's my fault. It was clearly you who said she couldn't have children and told me to replace her. You're the one who broke them up!"

Mrs. Lang wasn't listening anymore. She just pushed Gloria toward the door. "Get out now! If you don't leave, I'll call the police!"

Gloria looked at Tristan again. Tristan just leaned back on the sofa with his eyes closed, completely ignoring her.

She suddenly laughed.

"Ha! You were the ones who asked me to come, and now you're the ones kicking me out. You deserve not to have children, hahaha..."

......

Tristan applied for divorce with his unit again.

The leader found it strange. How could he be getting divorced again just a few months after getting married?

Wasn't this treating marriage like a joke?

Tristan explained what had happened to him, and only then did the leader agree to approve it.

The approval came through, but Gloria had disappeared.

Gloria left him a message. I won't divorce you!

Then she disappeared with her lover from her hometown.

Tristan had no choice but to ask Mason, who worked at the police station, to help find her. If they couldn't find her, the divorce would be very difficult.

......

Somehow, news of Tristan's situation spread throughout the compound.

Matilda was still living in the compound and heard the women talking about it as soon as she got back today.

Matilda listened with mixed feelings, not knowing whether to sympathize with Tristan or feel schadenfreude.

She immediately shared this gossip with Britney.

Britney must have been busy because she didn't reply for a long time.

......

But unexpectedly, the drama wasn't over yet.

When Britney arrived at work today, she saw Mrs. Lang waiting at her office door.

"Bree..." Mrs. Lang first glanced at Britney's belly, then called her nickname affectionately.

Britney felt her skin crawl.

"What do you want?"

"Bree, I came to talk to you about Tristan. I know Tristan did some things that wronged you before, which led to your divorce. But now Tristan and Gloria have separated, and he's preparing to divorce her."

"So?" Britney asked.
