Piper’s POV
“Ah, I just remembered that I haven’t gotten my period this month, even though it’s the end of the month. Does that mean I’m pregnant?” I asked.
Austin smiled. “I guessed. But we still have to make sure. The great and handsome Doctor Austin has prepared everything. Tomorrow morning when you just wake up, do the test pack. If the result is positive, come to the hospital. I will check further and write vitamins to you. But we’re talking about the worst-case scenario. If it’s negative, come to the hospital, and I’ll have to do some tests on you. Let’s hope for the best. Is my explanation understandable enough?”
“Tsk, your explanation is too long. In short, whether the result is negative or positive, I still have to take Piper to the hospital so that you can examine her. You still haven’t changed. I wonder what goes through your patient’s mind,” Jay said in a slightly lofty tone.
Austin turned around and looked at Jay. “Are you insulting me? One thing you don’t know is that I have a lot of female patients queuing up in front of my room. They will queue for hours just for me to examine them, even though many of them have no complaints. I wonder what’s going through Piper’s mind that she wants to marry you, an old man, hahaha.”
Jay smacked Austin lightly on the head as he pretended to strangle him, but Austin seemed to struggle to break free. Jay pretended to be angry and continued to grumble if he wasn’t old. While Austin continued to tease him. They both made me laugh until my stomach felt tight. If it was between Jay, Austin, and Jordan, the stiff atmosphere would immediately melt away.
“Hey, how long are you going to strangle me? Stop. I have to give your wife a test pack,” Austin pleaded.
Jay quickly removed his hands from Austin’s neck. Folding his arms across his chest, Jay said, “Are you sure Piper’s okay?”
“Huft, you’re chatty. I have to see the test results first before I can analyze them. I suggest you get more rest. If there are no more complaints, I’ll be out of here soon because I have somewhere to be,” Austin replied as he straightened his bag.
“I’m worried about my wife.”
“Tsk. Take it easy, she’ll be fine. Eat something that doesn’t make you nauseous even if you can only eat a little, then rest,” Austin said.
“Ok, thank you,” I replied.
“Alright, good night and bye,” Austin said as he walked to the door.
“Where are you going?” Jay asked curiously.
“To my ladies’ place, of course. They’ve been waiting all day. Bye,” Austin replied.
“Don’t drive drunk,” Jay replied.
“You sound like my mom. Go to your wife,” Austin replied.
After closing the door, Jay sat next to me again. The look in his eyes showed he was worried about me. He exhaled a few times.
“Hun, do you want something to eat?” he asked.
I nodded. “I want some porridge.”
“Okay. I’ll ask Lily to make porridge for you,” he replied.
Then, he took my hand and kissed my forehead twice as he said, “I hope you are pregnant. Jansen and Jessie must be happy to hear this news. But, if we’re not meant to have a third child, get yourself checked out. I’m just scared.”
Once again I landed my finger on her lips, “Shush, I’ll be fine. I’m strong, believe me.”
He nodded and kissed my hand, then stood up. “I’ll go downstairs. Lie down.”
“Pass me the TV remote, please. I’ll wait for the food while watching television,” I pleaded.
After Jay gave me the remote, he went to the door. Before he was completely out, “Jay.”
Jay turned around and looked at me. “What’s wrong? Do you want me to bring you something other than porridge?”
“No, I just wanted to say thank you. Love you.”
Jay smiled. “Love you to the moon and back.”
Long story short, the next morning, when the sun had just risen from its resting place, I had already opened my eyes. I honestly hadn’t slept well all night. My mind was constantly at work guessing things that hadn’t happened yet and not letting me rest at all.
After stretching my arms and legs, I looked to the side and saw Jay still sleeping soundly. He’d been looking after me all night, sometimes waking up when I did and always checking on me.
I’m lucky to have him. He and the twins were God’s gift to me, even though I had to go through a lot of hardships for a long time. However, all those hardships eventually paid off.
Before getting up and doing the test pack, I approached Jay, stroked his head, and kissed his forehead and lips. He didn’t flinch and remained fast asleep. He must be exhausted.
I hurriedly got up and went into the bathroom to do a test pack. I stayed quietly in the bathroom while waiting for the results to come out. My heart was beating quite fast and while folding my hands, I closed my eyes and prayed.
It was time to open my eyes and see the results. Fear and curiosity mixed. I opened my eyes slowly and saw two thick lines stretching horizontally. And that meant.
I was pregnant! Yes, I was pregnant!
A feeling of happiness filled me. I was so grateful to God for His kindness to me and my family. We were again trusted to be parents and nurture our third child.
My lips continued to paint a big smile, my eyes sparkled, and I couldn’t hold back this joyful news any longer. I rushed out of the bathroom and climbed onto the bed.
“Jay, Jay,” I whispered in his ear. He stirred and tried to open his eyes, even though it was difficult for him.
“Jay, wake up. I have good news,” I said as I stroked his hand and kissed his cheek.
He turned around and opened his eyes slowly. Both his hands grabbed my body, and he pulled me close to him.
Still sleepy, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling better?”
“I have good news for you,” I replied.
Jay opened his eyes wider and looked at me. “Good news? Did you take a test pack? What was the result?”
“Tada, positive.”
“Oh, my God. Am I dreaming?” he asked with a laugh. The light in her eyes showed both happiness and surprise.
“No, you’re not dreaming.”
Jay immediately hugged me. He kissed my head a few times. “Thanks, Piper.”
“Let’s get ready for the hospital.”
“Yeah, in a minute. Give me time to hold you a little longer. I still can’t believe I’m having another child. And sometimes I still can’t believe that I have such a complete family. I hope this happiness never leaves us. Thank you, Piper. Thank God,” he said.
“The twins must be happy. Let’s tell them now.”
“You’re right. Let’s go to their room. I can’t wait to see their reaction,” he replied. Then, we hurriedly got up and prepared to go to the twins’ bedroom as well as preparing to go to the hospital.
