Jay’s POV
Later that night, Ken took me to a mini-market in front of a hotel. He invited me in.
“Sir, let’s go inside,” he asked.
“What for? Didn’t you say you wanted to show me something?” I asked, confused.
“Take it easy. This is all part of the process I’ve set up. Don’t forget to wear sunglasses and a hat so we won’t be recognized. Let’s go out and buy something. Trust me,” he replied.
To fulfill the curiosity that had been peaking since this afternoon, I decided not to argue with or give him many more questions. I grabbed my sunglasses and hat from the back seat, then got out of the car and into the mini-market, following Ken.
It turned out he was walking down an aisle where shelves of instant noodles and snacks were lined up.
“Sir, let’s eat noodles and some snacks and drink cola while watching a show,” he said.
“What flavor noodles would you like?” he asked with a smile.
“Spicy noodles. Are you sure about all this?” I asked.
“Trust me, sir. After this, you’ll thank me,” he replied as he took two cups of instant noodles, some chips, and two bottles of cola. Then, he invited me to the cashier and asked me to pay for all the food. After that, he invited me to sit on a chair facing the front of the hotel while waiting for the noodles we had filled with hot water to cook.
“The noodles will be done soon. While we’re waiting, taste these chips, sir. They’re delicious,” he said, handing me a jumbo-sized bag of chips.
“I don’t see Megan. I hope you’re not wasting my time with all this,” I said.
Before answering, he looked at his watch and replied, “You’ll know soon enough, sir.”
“Ah, the noodles are done. Let’s eat. Here are your noodles. Your noodles look better,” he said as he handed me a cup of noodles.
“Thank you,” I replied.
We sat down at the mini-market’s long dining table with a view overlooking the hotel. All I could see so far was the traffic of vehicles stopping or entering the hotel. I tried to wait patiently for everything Ken said.
Not long after, I saw a car stopped in front of the hotel lobby. It was the same red car that I bought for Megan. And sure enough, Megan came out of the car alone. Her clothes were as sexy as ever.
However, she didn’t go straight into the hotel. She handed her car keys to a hotel employee, then stood near to the lobby looking at the highway as if she was waiting for someone to arrive.
“She’s waiting for someone, sir,” Ken said as he stuffed a spoonful of noodles into his mouth.
“Yes, I know. Who is she waiting for?” I asked as I continued to observe Megan’s behavior.
“Soon, the person she’s waiting for will come. After that, I’ll explain everything. Today we’re just watching the two of them,” Ken replied as he sipped his noodle soup.
“Looks like you’re starving.”
“Hahaha yes, I haven’t had lunch yet, so I’m starving. There’s the man Madam is waiting for,” he exclaimed, pointing at a blue luxury car that had stopped right in front of the hotel lobby.
“Who is that man?” I asked curiously.
“He was Ms. Piper’s ex-fiancé eight years ago. His name is Ethan Miles. And according to the information I got from some people, he and Ms. Piper had separated eight years ago. And it happened right before Ms. Piper and her mother were evicted from the mansion of Ms. Helen Smith, the richest businesswoman in Valdirra,” he replied as he stuffed some chips into his mouth.
I immediately thought of the story Nick had reported to me. It’s related to everything I experienced. However, I would have to wait for the results of Nick’s investigation for more details. However, I wondered, could Piper’s ex-fiancé be in on all of Megan’s actions? Or was Megan doing all of this on her own?
“One more thing, sir. From the story of a gatekeeper at Ms. Helen Smith’s mansion. Seven years ago, Ms. Piper and her mother were evicted on the same day that they found her at the hotel in a state of disarray. They discovered that Ms. Piper had spent the night with a strange man. Oh, wait, I think I missed something. T-that,” Ken said, looking at me.
“Your findings were amazing. That man is me. I just don’t know how Piper and I ended up in the same room that night. I didn’t know her and she wasn’t a prostitute hired by my mom. That’s still the question mark for me. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. So, what else do you know?” I asked as I drank my cola.
“S-so, sir. That boy is your son? Miss Jessie’s twin brother? Then you already know all the truth?” he asked, confused.
“Not all of it. I just know most of the facts. Megan paid the doctor, who helped Piper with the delivery to swap our baby with a dead baby. There’s still a lot I don’t know, and it’s all too complicated because it happened seven years ago. I was planning to do a DNA test for Megan and Jessie. It’s just that I forgot to take Megan’s hair sample,” I replied.
“Oh look, sir. They’re leaving. Let’s follow them,” Ken said.
We rushed out of the mini-market with what we could carry and got into the car and followed the blue car.
“Are they in a relationship?” I asked.
“Yes. Usually, on Saturday nights, they would go to the beach and look for a quiet place. Sometimes, they spend time at the hotel, but they spend more time on the beach. You’ll soon find out what they do there,” Ken replied.
After a while, we arrived at the beach area. Ken drove his car to a place away from the crowds. The lighting around the beach was quite bright. From a distance, I saw their car stopped near a big rock. It was silent around them. Then, Ken stopped the car quite far from them and asked me to get out of the car.
“Sir, let’s go down and hide on the hill,” he said, pointing to a place above us.
“The place you’re pointing at is quite far.”
“It is, but you’ll get the best view. Trust me,” he replied.
“Let’s go down now, sir,” he asked again.
So, we got out of the car and climbed the stairs to the top of the hill. The road around the stairs was not very good and slippery because the rainwater from the afternoon had soaked the road and the lighting around the stairs was very poor. So, we had to be extra careful when climbing the stairs.
Not long after, we arrived at a place precisely behind a big rock that faced right to Ethan’s car. And that’s when I saw an incredible sight.
