Piper’s POV
I turned around and saw Mom walking along with Jensen. Maybe that was a time for me to explain everything to them. I never expected things to go so fast.
Jessie also turned around while holding my hand and looked at Jensen. Then she looked at me with a questioning and confused look.
“H-he,” she said.
“Piper, him,” she said a second time.
I turned off my phone and waited for Mom to walk towards me. From a distance, I saw Mom and Jensen’s faces change. They must be confused and wondering. Even though I was ready to explain, my heart was still beating quite fast.
“Piper, what’s going on? Who is she? Why her?” Mom asked as she looked at Jessie with a probing gaze.
“Mom, Jensen, and Jessie, I’ll explain things to you guys after the competition is over. Now let’s go inside and when it’s all over, I’ll take you somewhere and you’ll hear all the answers. Now let’s go inside,” I said as I invited them inside. We heard the voice of the host asking the participants and the audience to enter the main hall as the competition was about to begin.
Although Jensen’s face changed and he looked surprised, he kept quiet and didn’t ask me questions. He had always been a child who could act more mature than his peers. And he was also a good boy, demanding nothing of me, so I sometimes made him a confidant, even though he was sometimes silent and only a listener. But his mature attitude made me feel proud and happy.
The four of us rushed inside to the main hall. Mom held Jensen’s hand while I held Jessie’s hand. When we reached the front of a room, Jensen asked us to stop walking. “I need to go inside this room. This is a special room for the competition participants. You guys sit inside. It’s best to find a strategic seat. In the middle of the event, the organizers will also distribute food and drinks to the audience. Wish me luck.”
His words deeply moved me. I knelt before him, hugged and kissed his cheeks several times.
“Mom, that’s enough. Don’t kiss me again or I’ll be late getting inside. I will win,” he said.
“Ok, I believe you. We will be in the audience seats.”
He nodded a few times. Then, he went into a special room and the three of us went into the main hall.
Long story short, I sat between Mom and Jessie. While listening to the principal give her opening remarks, Mom whispered in my ear, “Who is she? Is she your boss’s daughter? Why does she look so much like Jensen? I was so surprised when I saw her standing next to you. Please explain to me now. I’m very curious.”
“Yes, she’s my boss’s daughter. I’ll explain everything later. Now let’s support Jensen. Ok?” I asked.
“Ok,” Mom replied in a disappointed tone of voice.
Throughout the competition, Jessie looked happy. She was enthusiastically watching and supported all the participants. Without realizing it, I saw Mom smiling while looking at Jessie. Maybe Mom saw Jensen’s twin brother living in Jessie. I also hoped that Jessie was indeed my biological daughter.
As we entered the final round, I invited Jessie to support Jensen by calling out Jensen’s name from our seats. Jessie nodded and smiled widely. We both continued to call out Jensen’s name and his group’s name. Hope, happiness, and worry mixed.
Long story short, the competition was over. All the participants sat in front of the stage with their classmates. Not long after that, two teachers came on stage to announce the results of the competition and Jensen’s final score was one point higher than the other group's scores, meaning that Jensen won the competition.
I took Jessie’s hand and stood up from my seat and yelled happily. I was proud of him. Even though I raised him by myself, he grew up and did well in school.
After receiving the awards and prizes, Jensen approached us, who were still sitting in the audience. He smiled as he carried a gift and a large envelope.
“Mom, this envelope is for you,” he said. I accepted the envelope and hugged him while crying.
“Congratulations, dear. I am proud of you,” I said.
“Thank you, Mom. Can I have junk food and ice cream today?” he asked, laughing.
I released the hug and looked into his blue eyes. At first glance, I saw that Jensen’s eyes were like Jay’s. Maybe it was just my feelings.
“Since you won this match, then you can eat whatever you like,” I said.
“Yeah. Then let’s go. Oh, I need to go to the toilet for a while. Are you going to the toilet too, Jessie? Your name is Jessie, right?” he asked.
Jessie nodded as she held out her hand. Jensen immediately shook Jessie’s hand and took her to the toilet, after which he said he wanted to take Jessie around the school for a while. Mom and I let them go, and we waited in the main hall.
Jensen’s POV
That girl had the same face as me. Who was she? Mom once said that my twin sister died the day after she was born. But why was there a girl who had the same face as me? Could she be my twin sister?
My curiosity made me want to talk to her privately somewhere. I finally got her out of the main hall under the pretense of going to the toilet and wandering around the school for a while.
I took her hand and led her to the back of the school, where it was quiet and quite comfortable to talk.
“Ok, I think this is a good place to talk. You know what I mean by taking you out of the main hall, right?” I asked her.
She nodded, “I know. You must be curious about our similar faces. But somehow, I’m happy to know that Piper’s son has a face similar to mine. I’m most likely Piper’s biological daughter. Do you think so?”
“Hmm, you’re overconfident,” I replied.
“I’m telling the truth. How can we have the same face if we’re not related? Then that means you’re my brother. How do we know we’re Piper and my dad’s biological kids?” she asked.
Wait, he said ‘my father’. So, I still have a father? Was the man she called father our biological father?
“Is he your biological dad?” I asked curiously.
“Of course. I don’t doubt that. He’s the best dad I have,” she replied proudly.
If this man was my father. Why did he abandon me and Mom all those years? Did he not want to know about our existence? I had to find out the answer to all these mysteries.
