Chapter 2 A Well-matched Couple

Out of the gate of the hospital, as Aimee was hailing a cab on the side of the road, a black car slowly stopped in front of her.

Immediately afterwards, a man in black got out of the car and said to her respectfully, "Miss Read, Mr. Hayden wants to see you."

Aimee didn't ask him who Mr. Hayden was, and the entrance of the hospital was not a suitable place to talk, so she nodded slightly, and then got into the back seat.

The car drove slowly towards Hayden's Mansion. Even though Aimee wasn't interested in these magnificent castles, she still couldn't help being amazed.

No wonder the Reads took this marriage so seriously. With the greedy instinct of the Reads, they might feel that even the servants' rooms of the Hayden family were extremely luxurious too.

Aimee was led into a study room, where Camdyn Hayden, whose hair was white, was drawing.

She didn't approach, and didn't make a sound. Instead, she just stood quietly watching, and trying to minimize her presence.

Finally, when Camdyn put away his pen, he looked up at Aimee.

Her calves had already become stiff from standing a long period of time, and she supported herself by the perseverance.

"Miss Read, can you come and see how my writing is?" Camdyn waved to Aimee and told her to come over.

Aimee was stunned for a moment, and after realizing what he said, she mechanically moved towards him.

Her two legs were almost unable to bend.

Camdyn watched her silently. His eyes were deep and dark, but he didn't make a sound.

Aimee stood beside him, looking for the most respectful distance and posture.

Then she saw an oil painting, with majestic phrases written, "A Well- matched Couple".

Aimee pursed her lips, and understood clearly the intention of Camdyn.

She found an appropriate time to speak, "Your writing is very beautiful."

When he heard the words, helplessness flashed in his gaze which looked brilliant.

This young girl didn't seem to know how to appreciate a writing, she just picked a right word to describe it.

Sighing insignificantly, Camdyn asked, "So you like this writing?"

Aimee's eyes moved from the paper to his face. When she looked at his pair of sharp eyes, she swallowed uncontrollably, then nodded, and said, "I like it."

"Then I will give this to you. From now on, you will be part of my family," Camdyn said.

Aimee responded, "Thank you, Mr. Hayden."

"Calling me like that will make me unhappy. I've already said you are my family, so why don't you call me grandpa?" Camdyn said so and pretended to be angry.

Aimee really couldn't keep up with the speed of the development, but she could only harden herself and call out, "Grandpa."

"Yes." Camdyn responded happily, and it could be heard that he was happy from the bottom of his heart.

"You were told to stand for so long just now. Did you blame me?" said Camdyn.

"No." Aimee shook her head. In fact, she had already forgotten.

"That's good," Camdyn didn't continue the topic, but said, "Let's see Patrick."

"Okay." Aimee replied, hesitated for a while, but did not go forward to help Camdyn, even she saw him limping slightly on his left foot.

Camdyn saw Aimee's hesitation clearly from glancing at her, and sighed silently again.

She was also a person who was very guarded against others. He felt really worried when seeing Patrick.

The two walked through the front yard to a courtyard in the deepest part of Hayden's Mansion.

As soon as Aimee stepped in, she was overjoyed.

The environment here was more tranquil, and the faint fragrance of flowers in the air made her feel extraordinarily peaceful.

In the center of the courtyard, there was a small fountain, gurgling and splashing, which reminded her instantly of the mountain stream where she used to play by with her teacher before she was seven years old.

Aimee's eyes darkened.

She missed her teacher so much.

As Camdyn entered, the first thing Aimee noticed was not the person lying on the sickbed, but the sophisticated instruments in the room, and she couldn't help but sigh.

The instruments in the hospital where she worked were not so high-end compared to them. She was afraid that the world's top instruments were all here.

Aimee curled her fingers, feeling an unbearable urge.

She really wanted to try these instruments firsthand. If she understood how to use them and could use them in the hospital, maybe even more intractable diseases can be solved.

"Pat, how are you feeling today?" Camdyn had already walked to the bed first. Looking at his grandson lying on the bed, his voice was trembling uncontrollably.

Patrick Hayden lay flat on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. His soul seemed to have been far away from his body, as if he had never heard of Camdyn's concern.

When Aimee came over, she saw such a lifeless face.

This wasn't the first time she met Patrick.

The last time when she saw him, she didn't have time to appreciate his facial features carefully.

At that time, he was covered in blood and had multiple burns all over his body. Together with her tutor and the most authoritative doctors in various departments of the hospital, she focused entirely on resuscitating him who was dying.

In that operation, more than a dozen doctors took turns to do the works and they persisted for more than forty hours to saved the man eventually.

Aimee participated in the first half, so she didn't know that such a man had such a handsome face.
