Chapter 33 Confounded

Chapter 33 Confounded
Chapter 33

Kai pov

Four days after.

The CIA has been trying several ways to get me locked behind bars. But, I bet they will never get me.

My phone rang and I picked it up.  It was an unknown number so I didn't even say anything until the person at the other end spoke.

A thick and baritone voice rumbled in my ears.

“Good morning Mr. Kai,” the voice was laced with a cold emotion.

There was silence. My lips were pressed together as my mind scrambled for the place where I had heard this voice.

I couldn't detect so I just chuckled dryly. “Get straight to the point motherfucker!” I wiped off a non-existent dirt on my jaw.

“Don’t be rude Mr. Kai. I_”

I didn't allow the idiot to continue his words as I hung up the call. A frustrating sigh left my mouth as I dropped my phone on the seat beside me and fiddled with my fingers.

Either the CIA or my boss! One of them is trying so hard to get me behind bars.

But no matter what I Kai will never fall into their trap. I’ll forever be their nightmare and the air they've been striving to catch with an empty basket.

My phone rang and I picked up the moment I saw the name on the phone screen.

"Boss, cops just stormed the club, they're roughing up the manager."

"What transpired?" I asked.

He said it over the line and my heart lurched in my stomach then I asked the driver to make a U-turn towards the club.

Arriving at the club, I saw many vehicles and an ambulance.

I stayed in the car and watched as my manager was roughly dragged into a car.

I have my reasons for doing so as I ensured that I videoed the brutal manner in which the police were addressing my staff.

I called on the spy again. "What happened?"

"Someone was killed in the bar and the CCTV didn't have any record of anyone walking in except the footage of Manager Kim."

"Only one person was killed?" I asked and he answered.

"Man or female?"

"Female,"

"Teen or adults?" I asked.

"Teen," he answered and I slammed my fist against my thighs.

Fuck!

"Relax Kai, remember that I installed some hidden cameras in each of the rooms right?" I asked myself, trying to pacify my nerves.

I took my phone to watch the footage but nothing was displaying, everything was blank.

I rebooted my phone and when it switched on, it was ready to be used.

I tapped on the video icon on my phone to watch the CCTV, only to see my manager walking in and out of the room.

I didn't see anyone going in before my manager.

Shit! I have to do something or else my club will be confiscated.

A murder in my club and now the cops have dare to shut my club, saying it's under search.

To God be the glory I never put all my eggs in a basket if not I would have been in a great loss.

I asked my driver to drive me back to the house.

When I got home I decided to sleep first. The solution to this nemesis could wait until morning.

I was denied the luxury of speaking to my manager over the phone, but I've told my attorney to visit him and ask him some questions.

"Dring..." my phone rang and I picked it up.

"The manager said he's innocent, he received a distress call from the client that the girl was an assassin sent to kill him, so getting to the venue, he felt knocked out. The next thing he knows was him waking up with the cops banging at the door, his hands soiled in blood."

I swallowed a lump as my eyes narrowed to the map on the wall in my control room.

The map that contained every crook and cranny of my club.

Whoever did this was helped by an inside person.

"Did you ask him if he was able to take off the fake fingerprint on his fingers?" I asked.

"Yes. Just as he took it off, his fingerprint was extracted and taken to the lab to cross-check with the fingerprint on the knife." my attorney said.

My lips curved into a light smile. "Then he will be released today or tomorrow. But can I sue the police for brutal torture of my staff?"

"Uhm... no. Not when the culprit is yet to be known and the murder has happened in your premises." he answered.

"Can I also Sue  luciano for sending his junior colleagues to harrasing my baby mama I have evidence."

"Of course, but one thing at a time. Let's get your manager out first then other things can fall in line."

"Hmm..." I drawled. "Thank you, Anthony, my regards to your family."

I said and ended the call while my eyes scrutinized the map.

How come the camera that was hidden there was nowhere to be found?

The client must have used a camera detector and thus exposes some of my plans to risk.

"Hello," I said to the person over the line. My eyes glued to the pen and book on the table in front of me.

"Boss, there was an open fire early this morning at the warehouse, and when we tried to seek firefighters, we were ambushed and bullets were being fired at us.”

"Which warehouse?" I asked, my brows arching.

"The one with the powder shipment," he answered over the line.

"Fuck!" My legs kicked against the empty chair in front of me and I slammed my fist into the wall.

"How many survivors? Were you able to capture anyone?" I demanded.

"No. We were outnumbered and... he said I should tell you to accept the deal or face more of his war to come."

My eyes rolled upwards and my Instinct growled at the thought of me being threatened.

No one dares to block my path.

“Thank you, Xi. Kindly find a place to lay low for the mesh time. I’ll call you when I need your help.”

“Deal?” I mumbled to myself with my brow furrowing the moment I ended the call with Xi.

“What deal?” I tried to ask myself.

Then my mind darted to the nine hundred billion money heist deal that was being thrown at me.

Damn!

I squeezed my eyes tight, clutching my head. These offers seem too tempting to resist but…

Isn't it so suspicious? Just because I turned down the offer and now my business is being targeted?

What if it was the CIA behind the deal?

I've stopped robbing but these people want to bring back the old me.

My phone bleeped with a message from an unknown number.

“Nine more days for the nine hundred billion dollars to be taken from the central bank or risk losing everything that you once loved including your mother.”

My heart clenched at the last words.

Who the hell is this?

No one had ever had the effrontery to threaten me this way.  I’ll surely catch this person but before that, I need to weigh these options.

Stealing nine hundred billion isn't a bad idea as I'll be getting fifty percent of it.
