Chapter 89 Trapped

Chapter 89 Trapped
A bomb?

Diego stopped in his tracks immediately. Did Griffin really plan to use the whole clan to bring him down? What a psycho!

"You!" Dona yelled from behind, shooting at Diego. The bullet barely missed him.

With a cold look, Diego approached her quickly. She shot again, but Diego swiftly hit the gun away and grabbed her neck.

"Bitch, wake up. Aren't you Sylvester's wife? You accepted a fucking stranger as your Don, putting your whole clan in danger," he growled, then pushed her away, letting her go.

"Raise the alarm and ask your clan to evacuate. You'll all die if you stay."

Dona's eyes widened at his words.

Diego turned to leave, tapping on his earphone. "How many bombs, Aiden?" he asked.

"I don't know, but it's definitely not one. The building scan will be over soon and..." Aiden paused when a call came in. He picked up immediately. "The scan?"

"What the heck?! The scan is complete, and you won't believe this," the voice on the other side sounded.

"What?"

"There are bombs everywhere. The bombs are strong enough to destroy the entire building."

Aiden let out a shaky breath. "How long do we have?"

"Three minutes," the person replied.

Diego took another step, but a gunshot sounded again. Diego turned his head and found Dona holding the gun.

'Fucking bitch!' Diego cursed inwardly.

"How do I believe you?" she asked. "You're not leaving."

Just then, a speaker was turned on, and a familiar voice sounded.

"Hello, brother."

Diego clenched his jaw at the voice. Dona frowned, recognizing Griffin's voice.

"I know you can hear me. Tsk... I outsmarted you this time, didn't I?" Griffin's voice dripped with mockery.

Diego never thought this asshole would go so far. Bringing all these people down with him is just too cruel.

"You're just like your father. He was strong, brave, ruthless... but when that stupid feeling called love came in, he lost his way of thinking. The same thing happened to you, Diego. Your love for Candy made you weak."

Diego scoffed in disbelief.

"Don't worry. After your death, I'll make sure to take care of Shortie for you. Happy death day, brother."

The speaker turned off.

"Motherfucker," Diego uttered.

Grabbing the huge fry pan, Jameson hit it on the butler approaching him, sending him falling to the ground.

One of them tried to hit Jameson with a cutlass, but he effortlessly dodged across the table behind him. Grabbing a fistful of ground pepper, he threw it on the man's face.

"Fuck!" His swear filled the room.

"A bomb, you say?" Jameson's eyes widened as he held the earphone.

"Yeah, we have three minutes before the first one blows," Diego's voice sounded.

"First? You mean there are others?" Jameson's eyes widened. Is Griffin thinking of killing the whole clan just to bring Diego down?

"Argh!!" One of them yelled, trying to smash Jameson with a hammer. Jameson dodged and immediately took the boiling water on the stove and poured it on his face.

"Argh, fuck," Jameson hissed at the sting after touching the pot. However, the one who had the boiling water on his face danced in a way that made Jameson chuckle.

Jameson snapped back to reality, and his face turned serious again. "Just how many bombs are in the building?"

"Many. He is bringing the whole clan down just to beat me," Diego sounded like he was fighting those trying to attack him.

"Griffin is a coward," Jameson mumbled. He saw the other butlers ready to attack again.

"Hey!!" He yelled at them, and they all halted. "We shouldn't be fighting since we now have the same enemy. Your stupid new Don is a psycho who we are after. Currently, this building is filled with bombs ready to blow your asses off, and if you keep doing this... we are all gonna fucking die."

The mobsters gave each other a look and frowned.

"Why should we believe you? Our Don is the Billionaire Devil," one of them said.

"I'm sorry, what?" Jameson scoffed. "He must be really good at deceiving you guys. I know Griffin too well; he is not who you think he is. He is worse than Sylvester. Now tell me where Phoenix is and get the fuck out if you still want to live."

One of them made to approach, but another held him back.

"Let's get out of here," he said to the others. The others gave him a questioning look. "Don't you think we are stupid to think a savior comes from nowhere? I never liked our new Don from the beginning. I knew something was up."

He turned to face Jameson and pointed to a door. "It leads to a passage. The prisoner is there, guarded by three mobsters."

Jameson nodded and immediately went into the place.

Phoenix woke up thirty minutes ago, and silence was the only thing that filled the room. The trio watching her was busy with their own things, not saying a word.

Phoenix had no strength. She had no idea what Griffin might be planning or holding against her.

A loud thud prompted their heads to snap towards the direction. A figure appeared, and Phoenix smiled weakly.

Jameson.

The three men in the room immediately stood to attack. Jameson was fast, dodging them and attacking them. Soon, they were on the floor, lifeless.

Jameson ran towards her, "Hey, how are you feeling?"

Phoenix scoffed weakly. "Like shit."

"We have to get out of here," he stated, unchaining her. Phoenix would have fallen if it wasn't for Jameson's hold.

He took her into his arms and made to leave, but then...

The first bomb exploded.

___

Candy's gaze settled on the altar before her. Her face held a worried look. She couldn't sleep; an urge kept disturbing her.

Unable to take it anymore, she visited the church.

A young man walked over to sit beside her. Their gazes met, and he smiled. Candy forced a smile and returned her gaze to the altar.

"You know, they say 98% of people run to God mostly when they need help," the man spoke.

"What do you mean?" Candy asked.

"I mean, I haven't seen this face around here," he said. Candy kept quiet, not wanting to talk with any stranger.

"I'm Marvel, Venessa's ex-boyfriend," he said, and Candy's eyes snapped back to him. "I was the one who lied about her accident on the wedding day."

"Why are you telling me this?" Candy raised an eyebrow.

"You're a good person. Though this is our first time talking to each other, I'm just a bit worried about Venessa. She has a nice heart but always lets herself be controlled."

"You still like her?" Candy found it dumb if Marvel still wanted Venessa.

"No, I don't. I have a woman already. I'm sorry, I just wanted to talk to someone and was surprised to see you here," Marvel said.

He had a nice vibe, one that couldn't be ignored. Venessa is a dumb woman, of course.

___

(MOSCOW)

The building shook at the first explosion. Diego, who was trying to fight his way down, halted. The alarm sound filled the building.

"Aiden?" He called, tapping his earphone.

"The second bomb will explode in 30 seconds. That is the interval. The bomb on one side of the building just exploded. You guys need to get out of there," Aiden's panicked voice sounded.

"Diego, where are you?" Einstein asked over the earphone.

"I'm still up. I have a fight with some fucking mobsters. Don't worry, I'll be out soon," Diego replied, finding the elevator.

It seemed the mobsters now realized they were all in danger, seeing how they were scattering around.

Diego found the path he took. However, when he got there, it was blocked. Diego could see red lights peeking through the stone's small holes.

Fire.
