Chapter 64 Estefan

Chapter 64 Estefan

ESTEFAN'S POV

Leaning into the plane seat with my eyes closed, I could feel Rhea's stares boring into my skin. Since we left the palace, she had been staring at me but I ignored her, expecting that she would later open up and tell me what she wanted.

The feeling of her eyes on me disturbed me from getting any sleep, I had no choice but to open my eyes to meet hers as she was sitting directly in front of me. "What do you want? Is there something you wish to ask me?"

She relaxed in her seat after getting my attention. "Why are you acting differently around me?"

I understood what she was asking but I decided to feign ignorance so that she could explain more. "What are you talking about?"

"I'm used to you being cold and uncaring that I don't know what to do with the Estefan I have been seeing since yesterday." Her eyes were filled with curiosity as they bored into mine like she was trying to figure out what was going on in my head.

"You should feel lucky that you are the only one that gets to experience that side of me."

"I know I should, right? But somehow, I don't," she said, making me furrow my eyebrows in confusion. "It was easy to annoy you when you were still being mean and cold."

"Does annoying me make you happy?" I asked.

"Yes." She smiled. "And knowing that you can't do anything about it makes me happier."

"Staying inside the house for twenty years must have done something to your brain, that's why you talk and act unusually." I shook my head.

"What? Are you trying to say I'm insane?" Her eyes widened. "Name one unusual thing that I've done." She folded her hands.

"First of all, no normal person would get married to a man without knowing his last name," I pointed out.

She opened her mouth to say something but her mouth hung open as she blinked profusely when she realized she had nothing to say.

A smirk formed on my face as I continued, "And also who talks about getting divorced on a romantic date during their honeymoon?"

"That shouldn't be considered abnormal in our case."

"But it is to the world."

"Whatever." She rolled her eyes and looked out the window.

Happy that she was no longer staring at me, I decide to close my eyes and take a nap before we arrive in London. But that moment was short-lived because Rhea had something to say again.

"Estefan, you still haven't told me why you are taking me to London?"

I popped an eye open to see her raising her eyebrows at me. "I thought Esteban already told you the answer to that."

"You expect me to buy that crap?" She scoffed and shook her head. "Anyways, I know you are taking me with you because you want me to talk to my parents."

That made me sit up in my chair. "How do you know that?"

"You just told me." She smiled, making me narrow my eyes at her. "I overheard you talking to someone on the phone this morning and judging by the conversation from your side, I assumed it was my dad but I wasn't certain. Thanks for helping me confirm."

That sly fox. She managed to trick me into telling her the truth but judging by how lightly she was taking the situation, she didn't seem mad about it.

"Are you okay with it? Going to see your parents."

"I guess. I can't ignore them forever, can I? Besides, since I managed to forgive you, I should be able to do so for them." She shrugged.

"You have forgiven me?" I froze in shock.

I thought she still hated me for separating her from her family, so all that forgiveness stuff was news to me.

"Partially," she replied. "You are the reason why Leah and I are not getting along, and I'm not sure we will ever be able to go back to the way we used to be." Her face fell as she stared down at her fingers.

"You must love her a lot."

"Of course, I do. She's my big sister that has been by my side all these years, even though she can be a bit annoying, I enjoy her presence sometimes." Her eyes lit up as she talk about her sister.

It was so sad that her sister does not feel the same way about her.

"You don't see her as a bad person for all the things she did because of our wedding?" I questioned.

"No. I understand that the circumstances drove her to do all those things but that doesn't mean I'm not hurt that she doesn't trust me at all." She looked up at me. "Do you think she is a bad person?"

I sighed and thought of a way to honestly answer that question without hurting her feelings.
"No matter what the excuse is or the situation you might find yourself in, it's not enough reason to hurt your family member. That's all I can say."

"So you think she's a bad person for putting her career above everyone else including her family?"

"If you put it that way, yes." I shrugged.

"Is that why you didn't marry her?" she asked with her blue orbs boring into mine. "Why did you choose to marry me, Estefan?"

The question caught me off guard, leaving me stunned in my seat. I should have known that she would seek answers but I still wasn't prepared to tell her the truth.

"Spending time with Leah made me realize she's not someone I want to spend the rest of my life with, that's why I chose to marry you," I lied.

"You expect me to buy that?"

"Yes, because that's the truth."

"We both know that's nothing near the truth." She countered.

"Just drop it, Rhea. I don't want to talk about this anymore." I relaxed in my seat and closed my eyes, fortunately for me, she didn't say anything to disturb me.

The plane landed at London airport two hours later, and a black Sedan picked up and drove us to the hotel where I stayed the last time I was there.

When we got to the hotel, the driver drove to the back entrance of the hotel where we met only the manager waiting for us. Bernard called the manager earlier to inform him about Rhea's condition which was why he had the back entrance cleared out for us.

He opened the door for us and bowed his head as I stepped out, holding my hand for Rhea. "Welcome, Your Highnesses," he said as Rhea climbed down the car to stand behind me.

"Is the path clear?" I asked to confirm.

"Yes, your highness," he replied. "This way." He walked ahead of us and I followed behind him, taking Rhea's hand in mine.

We took the elevator to the last floor and stepped out, stopping in front of the same room I lodged in the last time.

"Here's your card." He handed over the key card to me. "Let me know if you need anything." He sent a smile in Rhea's direction before walking away.

Swiping down the card on the lock, I pushed the door open and walked into the room to meet it the same arrangement it was the last time.

"Is this the same room you stayed in the last time you were here?" Rhea asked as her eyes scanned the room.

"Yes." I took off my jacket and slumped on the couch.

"So this was where you and Leah had that romantic afternoon together." She stood in front of me with a smirk on her face.

Before she could register what was happening, I pulled her down to sit on my lap, wrapping my other arm around her to pull her close to me. Her eyes widened as our faces were just an inch apart.

Looking straight into her eyes, I said, "For the rest of our time here, no, for the rest of our time together, I would appreciate it if you don't talk about Leah again, understood?" I asked as I caressed the side of her face with my finger.

"Yes," she said in a hushed breath.

She jumped off my lap the moment my arm was released around her. "I'll be in the room." She scurried away like a rat.

As I said before, her words could be annoying, but at the same time, it was very easy to shut her up with a bit of intimacy.
