Chapter 13 Kiss me if you dare
Chapter 13 Kiss me if you dare
A fucking alarm was ringing somewhere in the apartment. Adrian didn’t remember setting one or asking Jack to.
“Put that shit off,” he grumbled, turning to his side where Jack was usually cuddled up. “My head fucking hurts.”
Jack was a heavy sleeper. He’d always sleep through every alarm he set. Adrian learnt that the hard way.
Usually, Monroe was the early riser between the three. He’d be up early and put off the alarm before it could wake the other two.
Adrian was grateful that Jack’s apartment was above the club. He always crashed there instead of going through the hassle of going back to his apartment after a night of heavy drinking.
He might have overdone it last night, but he needed to get the anger out of his system somehow. And Jack always reserved the best bottle for his best friends.
The alarm was still ringing so Adrian put his head under Jack’s arm hoping to block out the noise.
“You better make me hangover soup after this,” Adrian grumbled, getting comfortable as he draped his leg over Jack’s.
“Already done,” a deep voice said from above him.
Jack’s voice was deep, but it wasn’t that deep.
Adrian touched his chest. While Jack worked out, he had only lean muscle and wasn’t as buff as whoever he was touching.
Did he go home with another man last night?
He immediately shot up, wincing when another wave of headache hit him.
“Do you usually cuddle your best friend like this?”
Adrian recognized the voice now, and he could tell the owner was angry. Very angry.
“Rowan?” he rubbed his eyes, the half-naked man in front of him finally coming into view. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“Don’t curse so early in the morning?”
Adrian looked around.
It was certainly not Jack’s apartment, neither was it the hotel he had checked into with Rowan.
“Where am I?” he asked, kicking off the covers and realizing he was completely naked. “And where the fuck are my clothes?”
Rowan groaned and turned to the other side, giving Adrian his back. “Maybe you should thank me first for cleaning you up after you puked on yourself.”
“I didn’t ask you to,” Adrian retorted, “This isn’t the hotel.”
“It isn’t.”
Adrian sighed, “How did I end up here?”
“By car.”
This guy was getting on his nerves. “Did you go to Jack’s club?”
“Obviously.”
He finally lost it. “Can’t you just answer like a normal human being?”
Rowan shrugged.
Adrian ran a palm over his face. “Where are my clothes? I need to go back to my apartment.”
That was when Rowan turned back to face him. “There’s no need to go back, all your things have been arranged in the closet. I threw away the other things I found unnecessary. If there’s anything of importance that I missed then you can call Silas for it.”
For half a minute Adrian froze, then his brain kickstarted again. “You did what?”
“Went through the trouble of moving your things from the old apartment and into the penthouse. I did tell you we were going to live together moving forward. Do you never listen?”
Adrian could feel the smoke blowing out of his ears. “You moved my things without my permission? Who the fuck do you think you are?”
“Your husband,” Rowan deadpanned.
“I need to calm down, murder is wrong.” Adrian repeated it over and over to himself. “How did you even get access to my apartment?”
Rowan shrugged, getting out of the bed. “Elias handled most of it.”
“Take everything back, I’m not living with you.”
“Too late. Let me go make you that hangover soup. You can rearrange whatever you want if you don’t like the way I put it.”
Adrian watched him walk out of the room in disbelief. Why was the fucker out to ruin his life.
He instinctively opened the bedside drawer and reached for a cigarette only to realize there’d probably be none.
He walked to the closet and pulled out the first pair of underwear he saw.
It was probably Rowan’s because it was all dark colors and he didn’t wear those. He liked everything bright and shiny.
Rowan was already stirring something in the pot when Adrian walked into the kitchen. He turned away from the stove briefly.
“That’s mine.”
Adrian nodded. “I know.” He almost smiled when a flicker of disapproval showed in Rowan’s expression.
“It’s normal for people living together to share things…even underwear. Why’s it so big anyway?”
The ghost of a smirk danced on Rowan’s face. “Maybe because your dick is smaller than mine.”
Adrian thought he was going to burst a couple veins. “I do not have a small dick.”
Rowan clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. “If you say so. By the way, do you cuddle Jack like that? It’s improper to be close to another man when you’re married.”
“What are you on about, he’s my best friend.”
Rowan turned off the stove. “Even best friends should have boundaries. He needs to learn how to keep his hands away from someone’s man.”
“If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re being possessive.”
Rowan raised a brow. “I am being possessive. You are mine.”
Adrian’s mouth hung open. “What are you on about? This marriage is fake, remember? And I’ll never belong to someone like you.”
With practiced ease Rowan put the handover soup in a bowl and gave it to Adrian.
“Why not?”
“First of all, we hate each other.” Adrian took the spoon Rowan gave him. “Second, I’m not into men.”
“Didn’t seem that way to me last night.”
Adrian froze. “What happened last night? Did I do anything embarassing?” then he sighed. “Don’t read any meaning to it, I have a thing for kissing people randomly when I get drunk.”
The sound of cutlery falling to the tiled floor started Adrian.
“You just go about kissing people?” Rowan asked, his knuckles turning white from where he held tightly to the counter.
“It’s just a kiss, why are you overreacting?"
Without a word Rowan walked over and suddenly kissed the tip of Adrian’s nose.
Adrian turned a bright red, “What the hell was that for?”
“Why are you overreacting? It’s just a kiss.”
Adrian raised a fist, “Do that again and I’ll give you a matching black eye.”
