Chapter 33

SEPTEMBER' S POV.

" And where are everyone else?" I asked.

Zach rolled his eyes but didn't said anything.

I nudged him to which he made a face. " I've cooked only for you, not for them."

What? I should better call him bitter guard instead of Zach.

He made me sit on the chair and turned off the lights after lighting the scented candles. I smiled at the beautiful sight and waited impatiently for whatever he's going to do next.

" I've made Chinese for you." He smiled.

I nodded.

I don't have any preferences but the fact that he had made something for me, definitely it would be the best food of my life. His efforts would be there to enhance the taste.

He sat across the table and served me. My eyes went wider at the sight of food. Too much variety. He had made all this for me? And I don't even know some of their names.

" What's all this?" I asked, still surprised.

He chuckled.

"Well, Shezwan Chowmine, Spring roll, Mangolian meatball ramen, Chinese dumplings, Orange chicken, Buddha's delight, Chicken wontons, Kung pao shrimp, General tso chicken sandwich and toffee bananas."

Okay. Wow.

And now I am hungry, seriously.

" Feed me, please." I pouted.

" You're such a kid, you know."

I nodded and stick my tongue out at him.

And you're perfect.

He shook his head with a smile and took a spoon full bite of food and gestured me to eat.

" Mhmm. Delicious." I moaned.

He laughed and pinched my cheeks which made me blush. I closed my eyes and tried hard not to smile like a fool.

Jeez. What's wrong with me?

Why this warm feeling in my stomach?

" Is it okay?" He asked, nervously.

" Yummy." I replied. " You can be a perfect chef, you know."

" Shut up and eat." He scratched the back of his neck.

And now it was his time to blush.

But on a serious note, he's quite a perfect cook. I wonder what he does for living? He should be the chef owning his own restaurant.

Wait. He's my husband and I am still unaware of his profession? Fucking great.

Should I ask? Why not!

" By the way Zach, what you do for living?"

His eyes snapped in my direction and his grip on fork tightens. I looked at him, confused.

Uh.

And in the next moment, his eyes moisten and through them pain was clearly visible.

My heart sank and I mentally cursed myself for asking him that question. I didn't wanted to hurt him but unintentionally I did so, right?

Stupid, September. Maybe he has lost his job and didn't wanted to talk about it but you spoiled his mood.

I am sorry, Zach.

I placed my hand over his in assurance. " You've lost your job, right?"

But still his expression remained same. I pressed my lips into thin line and frowned. Sorry.

Think September. Think something to lift up his mood.

"Why don't you open your own restaurant?" I smiled.

" Huh?" He looked at me straight.

I bite on my lower lips and shrugged my shoulders. " Since you're a perfect cook, why don't you..?"

And that's when a small smile crept on his lips. Sadness was now replaced with amusement in his eyes. I raised my eyebrows and offered him a polite smile.

" I was wondering to start a new job and since you suggested me to do something which I like, I guess it would be fine."

And at that moment I wanted nothing but to kiss his cheeks. Should I?

I bite on my lips and stood up to place a soft kiss on his cheeks. He startled for a second before he closed his eyes and a wide smile appeared on the corner of his lips.

" Thank you." He whispered.

I flushed.

How easily I can connect with him? Like I know him since forever. Maybe we used to be like this only before my accident in which I've lost my memory. I guess I feel something for him, not exactly love or anything but an undeniable attachment. He makes me smile and what's most important is that since the day I've been woken up in the hospital, he had proved that he cares for me. I love how sweetly he pampers me as if I am some fragile doll and even after my pathetic physical condition, not once he decided to leave me instead he told me that I am beautiful.

However, my attachment craves for my memory. I want to remember everything so that I can learn more about him. I craves to know how we used to be and everything. I crave for the feeling I've had for him. Was it love? If yes, then how much had I loved him? Is love the reason why my heart remembers him despite of my memory?

But for now, I should better enjoy this moment with him.

" September." His voice brought me back from my trance.

"Yes." I smiled.

"Forgive me." He blurted out in a hollow tone.

Huh?

" I want to tell you something." He added.

And here goes my heart beating like a wildfire.

I don't why but these 'tell you something' statements are scary.

"Sure." I faked an enthusiasm although from inside my heart was on the edge.

" I was never good to you. I've hurt you more than you'll ever imagine. I don't even have guts to ask for your forgiveness but September, pity a pathetic man like me. I can't ask for your forgiveness but pity me." He said, almost being on the verge of crying.

I stilled.

Forgive him? But why?

And then, he took green chillies and stuffed them inside his mouth. I sat there, still confused, wondering that what was happening and before I could process anything, he was eating more and more chillies.

I blinked and all of sudden it hit me. I scanned his face, his lips became swollen, eyes red, sweat and tear stained face.

My heart constricted in pain. I ran to him and threw all the chillies aside but till now his condition was quite worse. He was coughing badly but still silently letting his tears out.

" Zach. Drink water please." I offered him glass full of water but he refused.

I released a breath and wiped his tears away to which he closed his eyes and smiled in content.

This man! Not for once he craved for water instead he smiled at my touch? What are you Zach?

" Please." I pleaded him to have water.

He shook his head and encircled his arms around my waist. After resting his head on my stomach, he let out a deep sigh.

" I..I..am s-sorry." He whispered.

I held my breath and pushed the saliva down my throat. My fingers started shaking which let the glass slip from my hand and fell on the floor. The crushing sound of glass echoed loud enough for my tears to stream down my face.

Stop September. This isn't the right time for you to cry. First make Zach to drink water. For God's sake, he has eaten mouthful of chillies. His mouth must be burning. He'll get ulcers.

I quickly removed his grip from my waist and cupped his cheeks forcing him to look straight into my eyes.

" You want me to forgive you, right?" I asked.

He shook his head like a little boy.

I raised my eyebrows. " Then?"

" P-Pity me." He shuttered.

I pressed my lips into thin line. "I'll do that but first you've to drink water and eat some sweets, okay?"

He nodded.

And for a minute, I had an urge to smile at his cute face.

He's no more than a small kid, stubborn if I may add.

I made him eat some sweets and then drink water. After wiping his tears, I offered him a small smile.

" You want to sleep, don't you?" I asked.

" Mhmm." He held my hand as if he was scared to let go.

My heart warmed at the sight and I couldn't help but smile, more brightly.

Zach, I hope your heart is ready to carry mine because I guess, I've started liking you.
