Chapter 271(The End)
Chapter 271(The End)
Alia POV
"Young master, is this how your subordinates speak to Andre?" Leo angrily spoke up.
"Andre, please!" Giulio continued.
Andre stood up with his cane and said: "Marco, just you wait. Someday, this woman will leave you with nothing."
Hearing Andre's words, Marco glanced at me sitting quietly beside him and suddenly smiled: "Even if that day really comes, I'd be willing."
"Fine, then we'll wait for that day to come." Dropping those words, Andre stormed off angrily.
After Andre left, Marco's face became extremely pale, his forehead covered with fine beads of sweat.
Looking at Marco, I was very worried. Just as I was about to say something, Marco pulled me into his arms.
His voice sounded above my head: "Alia, don't move. Let me hold you."
I nestled obediently in his embrace, letting him hold me, while the tears I'd been holding back rolled down from my eyes like broken pearls.
This man...
I didn't know what to say about him anymore.
Why did he always think of me first? Couldn't he consider himself just once?
Even just once would be good.
I buried my head in Marco's embrace, my warm tears soaking through his thin white shirt.
"Even our Julia knows that crying makes you ugly. Don't you know that?"
Marco's gentle, teasing voice sounded above my head. I reached out wanting to pinch him, but even though my hand reached his waist, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
He was still sick - how could I bear to pinch him?
I rubbed vigorously against Marco's chest, wiping away my tears before lifting my head from his embrace. I reached out to wipe the fine sweat from his forehead: "Don't say anything else. Let's go to the hospital first."
"No." Marco stole a kiss on my face and said willfully: "The hospital smells too much like medicine. I don't like it."
My cheeks reddened as I touched the spot he'd kissed: "Do you think you're three years old? Who doesn't go to the hospital when they're sick?"
Seeing my shy appearance, Marco's mood improved greatly, and his body seemed to feel less uncomfortable: "Not going."
"You have to go."
"If you hug me, I'll get better quickly." Perhaps due to physical weakness, Marco was being as willful as a child.
I felt somewhat helpless, but more than that, I felt heartbroken. I stood beside him and embraced him: "Marco, you can't scare me like this again, understand?"
He had suddenly collapsed, without any warning...
At that moment, I felt like the sky above me had collapsed. Before my eyes was endless darkness, and I couldn't find a way out of it.
What ultimately supported me to emerge from it, to bravely deal with Andre, was still because of him - because I also wanted to protect him.
"It's my fault," Marco said.
He had been too careless and hadn't noticed that Luca, who had always been by his side, was actually Andre's confidant.
Several months ago, Luca had started putting poison in his tea, and he had been completely unaware.
When he suddenly fainted that day, he thought it was from drinking Andre's tea, but later learned it wasn't - that day was just a coincidence.
Fortunately, the doctor by his side wasn't completely useless and could use medicine to detoxify him, allowing him to wake up early.
However, completely eliminating the toxins from his body would probably take some more time.
I sniffled and said: "You're very good, there's nothing wrong with you."
Marco pulled me onto his lap in one motion and chuckled softly: "Alia, I really want to devour you. What should I do?"
"You..." This man, his body was still so weak, yet what was he thinking about now?
"Mm, let me hold you a bit more." Marco held me in his arms, burying his head near my ear, breathing in my fragrant scent.
"Mr. Vittorio..." Giulio burst into the conference room without knocking. Seeing us embracing, he turned and wanted to run.
"Why are you running?" Marco released me and looked up, saying in a deep voice: "Handle the aftermath of this incident beautifully. Those who've been working against me behind the scenes - not one of them can be allowed to remain on the board of directors."
The man who had just been as willful as a child instantly transformed back into that aloof, decisive, cold-blooded man.
"Yes." Giulio nodded respectfully and continued: "I've already followed your instructions to let them eat and drink well first. Next, I'll find ways to recover the shares in their hands."
"Very good!" Marco nodded, expressing appreciation for Giulio's capabilities.
"Marco, the shares you said you transferred to me - that was just to deliberately anger Andre, right?" Hearing Giulio mention shares, I remembered what had just happened.
"What's mine is yours, and I'm yours too. Do we really need to distinguish between us?" Marco gave me an ambiguous answer.
This man Marco actually said such mushy words in front of outsiders. I unconsciously blushed again and secretly glared at him, warning him to restrain himself.
My heart ached terribly: "Marco, if you keep forcing yourself like this, I'll take Julia and go far away where you'll never find us."
I was purely speaking out of anger, but Marco took it to heart. He said: "If you say such things again, I'll tie you up."
"I won't say such things anymore... Let's go to the hospital first." I knew I had said the wrong thing and was brave enough to admit my mistake.
"Not going. I said not going, so I'm not going." Marco said willfully, also somewhat angry.
"You... Fine, then let's go home." Since Marco didn't want to go back to the hospital, I had no choice but to go home with him first.
"Daddy—"
Just as I was thinking, a soft, sweet voice rang out as Julia ran over with tiny steps.
Marco wanted to catch Julia as she came running over, but I stopped him: "You can't carry her. Let me."
Marco: "..."
Never mind little Julia - even if it were the two of us mother and daughter together, he could carry us. How could he possibly not be able to carry their daughter?
But I ignored Marco's dissatisfied gaze and scooped up the running Julia, kissing her cheek: "Julia, Mommy will hold you."
"Julia wants Daddy to hold me." Not having seen Daddy for several days, Julia wanted Daddy's hugs and kisses.
"Daddy is sick and doesn't have the strength..."
No strength?
Hearing those words, Marco was not pleased. He handsomely turned around, swept me up in his arms, and strode toward the main house.
"Marco, stop fooling around!" Had this man gone crazy? He could show off anytime - why did it have to be now?
Julia, who knew nothing of the situation, was delighted. Daddy was holding Mommy, Mommy was holding her - she felt like the center of the universe. How awesome and adorable!
If I hadn't spent so much time with him, I would never have known Marco could be so willful and childish. After stubbornly carrying us mother and daughter back, he was covered in sweat again, his face and lips pale.
Honestly, I didn't even want to deal with him anymore. I was so exasperated with him.
Although I said I didn't want to deal with him and was exasperated, I was still the first to help Marco sit down, brought a towel to wipe his sweat, and served him tea and water, taking care of him thoroughly.
"Daddy, Julia wants to tell you a secret." They say children forget easily, but even after several days, Julia still remembered she had a secret to share with Daddy.
"Alright, what secret does Julia want to tell Daddy?" Marco sat on the sofa as Julia climbed into his lap and whispered in his ear.
"Daddy, can you and Mommy have another baby brother to play with me?" After Julia finished speaking, she secretly glanced at me.
Marco laughed heartily: "Alright, then Mommy and I will give you a baby brother tomorrow. How's that?"
I stood to the side, watching this willful father-daughter pair, feeling both exasperated and incredibly warm.
"One isn't enough - have twelve zodiac animals and exhaust yourself, you father!" I walked over, picked up Julia, and gently leaned against Marco's chest, never wanting to leave again...
