Chapter 88 Return Me
Chapter 88 Return Me
Hazel
I returned to the house, but getting to the sitting room, the vampire lord had already descended the stairs, standing with his hands in his pockets.
Elaine was sitting on the sofa while Williams and Maverick stood behind the vampire lord.
I was forced to stop as I stared at everyone.
Ethan moved closer to me with two steps. “I heard Damien Cian was here”
My gaze roamed his eyes for some seconds. His gaze was dark, his eyes looking into mine in a way I couldn't understand.
I tried reading the look on his face, but just couldn't.
My voice rose. “Yes, and he left already. There's nothing to worry about”
I quickly moved away from him, heading upstairs, but almost immediately, something grabbed my hand, making my gaze turn instantly.
I had forgotten how fast vampires are to think that I could escape this situation.
Ethan held my hand, dragging me back off the stairs in a way that made me fall so close to his chest, his hands moving to my waist and drawing me close.
My lips parted in disbelief as I gasped. My gaze darted around, and the people around all stared at us like we were a goddamn show.
Damn Ethan! I hated attention like this. And Elaine was also here with her eyes, probably figuring out a way to kill me at the moment.
“He left?” Ethan's calm voice said, bringing my gaze back to him.
His breath was so cold, his skin cold against mine, so cold I could feel it from inside my top.
I gulped, becoming so nervous at the moment. “Yes, he did”
“How did you make him leave?” Ethan smirked. “I’m sure he came here to take you back”
“It's suspicious how he left without causing trouble,” he added.
I forced Ethan’s hands off my body even though that proved a lot difficult, and I believed he intentionally let go, not that I succeeded in letting him let go of me.
“That's because no man wants a child without a father!” I snapped.
Once again, I tried ascending the stairs, but he spun me around again.
Our bodies were so close, though they didn't touch. Our faces were so close that we could feel each other's breath on our skin.
“That child…” I knew he was going to talk about my pregnancy, so I cut him off before he could speak further.
“I'm sorry, Lord Ethan,” I said and moved away from him. “But I don't want to talk about that”
“It's my child, I decide whether or not I want to tell you about it”
I walked upstairs, heading to my room and was glad that lord Ethan didn't stop me again.
I got into the room and heaved a sigh of relief. My gaze went to my stomach, and I rubbed it.
I could see it in his eyes earlier. The doubt when he wanted to talk about the child, the possibility that the child could be his.
I needed to find out before anyone else. Lord Ethan is not stupid; he also would try to clear his doubts by trying to find solid evidence that the child is not his or finding the father of the child who I claimed was doing well.
But that father doesn't exist. I don't know where the father is. I don't even know who he is.
When Damien said he'd be back to get me, I thought he was going to go prepare or plan something out.
But I was shocked when I heard commotion outside my room just two hours after I entered.
I moved out of the room and headed downstairs.
I looked around the room, but there was no one in sight except Lyra.
Her face was in panic as she stomped her feet everywhere, moving around in panic.
“Lyra, what's happened outside?” I asked.
She noticed me and rushed over to me. “I think there's trouble”
My gaze squinted, telling her to explain.
“There are werewolves outside. Even the alpha came,” she said, and my eyes widened in surprise.
“I think they are here for you,” she continued. “I should trust my mind, but I don't know why I'm getting scared,” she said.
I placed a hand on her shoulder. “It will be fine, Lyra,” I smiled.
“Everyone will be fine. They are just here to get me, it will be fine if lord Ethan just lets me go,” I said.
I was going to walk away when she held my hand and stopped me from moving.
“Are you really going to go back with them?” She asked, her eyes now blurry with tears.
I couldn't understand her at the moment. Why was she getting so emotional? Why does she sound like this concerns her a lot when everything has to do with me?
“Of course, I should,” I replied, but she still didn't let go; she held me tighter.
“But…….” She swallowed hard. “My brother said you were forced into a marriage. He said there was no way you would be happy in that marriage”
“You deserve happiness, Hazel,” she added.
I stared at her for a while, and tears blurred my vision. How could someone understand me this much? How could words from someone the same age as me make me want to cry so badly?
“And you think I can find that here?” I asked, my voice getting cracked, words getting croaked out.
“The vampire lord killed my mother! I can't stay here either,” I forced a smile to my lips. “Thank you, Lyra”
With that, I left her side and walked outside, ready to face whatever it is that needs to be faced.
Outside, the vampire lord stood at the front, his hands in his pockets, his posture like a college bully. Elaine stood behind him, resting her body on one of her legs, a hand on her hips.
Maverick, Williams and some other vampires stood behind him.
And on the other side, my Dad stood, Damien, standing beside him.
Wolves who had turned growled behind them, men dressed in black with guns in their hands, their faces covered with helmets like SWAT officials.
I took a deep breath and walked towards them, the sound of my slippers dragging on the ground because of how slow I walked, making people turn their gazes towards me.
Dad’s gaze turned to me, and he blinked when he saw me. That blink of an eye looked like a sigh of relief.
He turned to the vampire lord, his gaze darkening. “We are here for her, and I'll be sure to take her away from here”
The vampire lord gave no reply but only stared at me, then back at my Dad.
Again, I dragged in a deep breath and picked up my steps faster.
My gaze was fixed on my Dad as I walked. I'm sure he’s disappointed in me because he found out I'm pregnant, but we’d have to talk about that after I get out of here.
I stood in the midst of the vampires and werewolves, leaving them to look at me.
“Return me to my people, and there will be no bloodshed” I said.
Ethan smirked. “And who are you to decide that?”
He moved to me, grabbing me roughly by the hand. “Anyone who wants to lose their head should come get her”
I gulped, getting scared more than ever.
