Jackson's POV.

I started running, finally having no other choice. Everyone was already far ahead of me, and something told me that it wouldn't be long before the others caught up with me. I glanced at them and noticed that they were already gaining some ground, and what's more, they were shooting at me. If they didn't catch me first of all, I was pretty sure that they would at least shoot me down.

As I continued running, I was at the end of the line, which meant that I was the easiest target, and therefore they would keep on shooting at me first of all before they tried to aim for my friends that were ahead of me. I knew that that lowered my chances of survival greatly, especially as none of them would voluntarily slow down for me so that they could catch up a little more and to simply achieve the aim of all of us being on the same line, for them to have a variety of people to shoot at.

I shook my head, knowing that I had to think. I heard a gunshot and could barely feel the breeze of something that passed right under my arm. The next moment, yes, they were shooting at me, so even if they didn't catch me, they would at least teach me a very good lesson without even having to stress themselves. I thought that falling down because of getting shot was about the biggest humiliation. No, I wasn't going to let it happen to me. I would think of a plan and find a way to disrupt whatever it was that they had in mind to do.

I closed my eyes as I ran, increasing my speed a little more because I knew that the more distance there was between us, the worse their aim would be, and if they weren't able to aim properly, then I would stand a better chance. Suddenly, as I was running, I saw something ahead of me. There was a glint in the sun as I noticed the shiny surface. "The tank," I said, suddenly freezing for a moment and giving the people behind me a quick second more to catch up with me before moving a little.

Having gained composure once again, "The tank," I said once again as I ran towards it with all my energy. Once I got there, I would no longer be such an easy target for them to shoot down. Now, it wouldn't increase my speed, but at least I would get some time to rest, and the protection from it was very worth it. Even if I wasn't able to fight against them with my bare hands, I would at least be able to shoot at them from the tank. Anyhow, I saw it. This was about the best thing that could happen to me in this case, and I was winning the lottery by simply seeing it and entering.

I found myself in the front seat a couple of moments after, holding the steering wheel and pressing down on the accelerator. The engine roared to life, and so did I, as I suddenly felt the freedom that came with the action that I was taking now. If it went well, then this was going to be the end of it for us. We would escape, and then we would survive. I couldn't think of anything better than that in this current situation for us. Even if it was just a stalemate that we managed to claim, I would be very happy.

A stalemate was something that hadn't even been in the menu a moment ago, but here it was now, staring me in the face. If we could drive as fast as possible, then we would be able to go further without actually putting in any strength at all. If that was the moment this thing finally stopped due to them catching up with us, we could start running this time without our feet, and then it would be very difficult for them to catch us because they wouldn't be able to run for much longer.

Having that thought in mind, I decided that it was going to be a good idea to gather the rest of my friends so that we could do this together. Going alone was nice, of course, but I also knew that it wasn't going to work because I didn't see us defeating them if we weren't going to do it together. I thought about everything for a moment as they made shots at us and decided that we needed something better if we were going to succeed.

Even though I was already in the tank and they weren't having much of an aim at me, I knew that it would still be terrible for us the moment we didn't have the protection of the tank anymore, even if all of us were in it right now. The moment they caught up due to their insane werewolf speed that far surpassed that of the tank, then they were going to destroy everything for us. We would be back to square one, and there was no saying how far we would be able to go on our life against them when they were shooting at us.

Honestly, guns were unfair in this little game, but then again, I couldn't really complain. There were no rules, and only one rule was that one werewolf had to live while the other had to die. Wait, there was a middle. Yes, us escaping and letting them sack the city, getting the blame for all of it, but surviving all the same. I wasn't going to opt for that rule unless it was the last possible option.

I have to wait to dampen their forces until they are literally, or none of them, left at all. I thought to myself, suddenly, I had seen something diabolical in my mind. It made more sense the more I thought about it, so I continued making the plan and forming it into the wonderful idea that it had been from the start.

I gave it a few final touches, as I thought if I could get all of my friends here and have them shoot like they are shooting at us, then we would be able to pick them off one by one, so that in the end they would be able to fight against the real leader. I'm pretty sure it would be not too difficult for us to round them up here. Since they don't have good aims, and aren't actually able to aim at us in the tank, while they are throwing all their tanks and destroying them and all their machines.

But suddenly I froze, deciding that I needed to stop acting and stop thinking. I had thought enough, and I needed to do something to make everything that I had thought a reality. I hadn't beaten yet the leader of that group, but I knew exactly how we were going to beat him together. If we worked together and fought like a team, then we were definitely going to defeat that man. Because as good as he thought he was, he wasn't all that powerful when it came to critical force.

I knew it already that he wouldn't be much of a threat to us if all of his people were gone. Yes, there were veterans among them, people who probably had skills enough like Robert, but I was pretty sure that none of them were strong enough to defeat us when we were together and all their men gone. I called out to Damien in front of me, knowing that he was one of my best people that could help in this mission. What's more, Damien didn't have any apparent plan in mind, so he was perfect to start with, since he was closest to me at the back of the entire group.

"Damien," I called again, but he seemed to be too focused on running away from the enemy to think of anything else. I contemplated calling him a couple of more times, but then I decided against it, believing that he wouldn't be able to hear me with the way he was focused. The lad was so fixated on getting away from danger that he couldn't think of anything else, and he was not in his right mind that he kept hanging on me like a maniac.

I shouted a couple of times, and he listened to me. It was very depressing to me, but the worst part about it was that he still didn't care. I decided then that he wasn't going to be able to hear me with the conventional method. I would have to do something unconventional, something that was probably dangerous, but I was pretty sure that once I did it, he would hear and then we could have a nice conversation about all this. I put out my gun and aimed for his fingers, knowing that it would incapacitate him a little if he got injured, but also knowing that taking this shot was probably the only way that I could get anyone's attention and also get what I'm looking for easily.
