Chapter 35 Sex in the Night

Chapter 35 Sex in the Night
Amarien’s POV

Daevir pulled me close, his lips trailing kisses from behind my ear down my neck to my shoulder.

I ran my hands up his top, pulling it off. His eyes settled on me. Our gazes locked, both seeking unspoken permission for the burning anticipation in our blood.

I couldn't wait.

I leaned in, pressing my lips to his. My tongue tangled with his, tasting his warmth. But Daevir went further; he ran his tongue into mine, locking me in so much that I lost my breath.

His tongue did dirty work in mine. It danced, teased, and pursued mine.

The blood rush intensified. Nothing around us mattered. I climbed onto him, straddling his hips. Shivers ran through my legs.

I couldn't wait.

I took off my clothes, lowering myself to him so we could resume that damning thing he was doing on my lips.

Prince Daevir held on to my tits, flicking them in his fingers as his tongue whipped a recipe of desire in my body. I felt the sensation of my tit boil my blood. Somehow, Daevir hit every note and itched with every flick and grate. I moaned softly as she felt the desire build up within

"First time?" He asked through the intensity.

"Yes," I whispered back.

And suddenly I felt a choke hold that made me lose my breath.

What's going on?!

It wasn't Daevir doing this…

I looked down at Daevir for help, but he wasn't there anymore. He had slipped off my grip and vanished again.

The choke got so intense that I held my neck and tried to scream for help.

All I could manage was a whelp that jolted me awake, snapping me from dream to reality.

It was only a dream. Disoriented, I pressed a hand to my chest, feeling the rapid thump of my heart as I tried to anchor myself in the present.

Sweat ran through every inch of my skin. My room is dark.

But…

I was not alone!

His figure leaned in to give me a kiss.

I wanted to screech for help when I heard his sickly voice.

“It's me, Amarien. Don't be scared.”

It's the emperor’s voice.

What's he doing here?

How did he get into my bed in the middle of the night?!

“Your majesty,” I whimpered. He was holding on to me so tight, I still wanted to scream for help. But who will save me when it's the emperor in the room with me?

He lit up a candlestick, and his form suddenly became apparent.

I thought he was too sick to see me.

“Doctor warned me not to play around, but I couldn't wait to see you again, Amarien.” He leaned in to kiss my lips, but I winced away from him.

“It's okay, Amarien. You won't get wherever sickness. I have my doctors working overtime to ensure that.” He leaned in again to kiss me, but I forced my weight away from him.

“Your majesty…” I whimpered again.

Oh gods, what excuse would I give him to make him stay away from me?

We can't possibly consummate tonight. Not when I just had the most damning dream about Daevir.

I've had these recurring dreams over the past few days. It never ceases to amaze me how graphic they get by the day.

But they are my only source of comfort now that Daevir is getting married to Princess Catherine of the West.

After the announcement in the Imperial Banquet, I couldn't even wait for the ceremony to be over; I ran out of the hall to cry.

At first, I didn't understand the source of my tears. Why had Daevir had me in such a chokehold for so long? Why does doing anything without him in the picture make everything so bleak? Why can't I be happy for the prince of the realm and his engagement to the pretty princess of the West? After all, things like these happened all the time. Daevir would always end up with a person in a station that befits him.

Why?!

Then I recalled the nights we had together.  That night at the cave, the night in my room when he scoffed at my friendship offer to him and told me we would never be friends.

I had thought he took my offer and shattered it to the floor then, but I was wrong. Daevir wasn't offering me friendship because he was offering me so much more.

He wants me!

And I want him!

I desired him every single day since he touched me in a way that made me want to be a woman!

He made the very thing I've been scared of so sweet, so pleasant, so desirable.

I want to be touched, kissed, desired. I want his love.

It's a forbidden desire. I know. But I did.

Yet everything shattered into a million pieces with this singular announcement.

I will never get the desires I want fulfilled.

Instead, I'm stuck with his father! The emperor! And he won't let me go because, strangely, he is persistent in getting his deal from my bargain.

How can I give Emperor Darian my love when I have laid it all at Daevir's feet, and he had trashed on it and kicked it to my face?

How can I enjoy this night with him when I wish it were Daevir here by my side to kiss me, want me, and whisper sweet words to me?

“Amarien…” he whispered again. His voice felt like wet mud between my toes. I wanted to scratch it off me and flee for my life.

“Your majesty…please, we can do this another time…”

“I want you now, Amarien. I've never wanted you so bad.” He pushed me back to the bed and mounted me, stripping my clothes, grabbing my breasts, and leaning in to kiss my neck.

I whimpered, but I couldn't protest anymore. Not when any resistance could make me lose my head. The emperor was hungry for this. Nothing would stop him.

My eyes darted to the herbal tea by my bedside. The one Grandma Chichi used to put me to sleep when I was in pain or when I was causing too much trouble for her.

The scent of the tea is enough to stimulate a person to fall asleep. I used to help me sleep faster and avoid nightmares. But a drop of the tea on the skin can knock a grown man out for hours.

I didn't think twice. I managed to stretch my hand to grab the teapot, swinging it to the Emperor’s face so the tea splashed over him.

It knocked him out with a single swoop. He collapsed on the bed, snoring so loud it shook me.

Oh, the gods. This will knock him out for a whole day.

I pushed myself out of the bed, my breath heaving in my chest. At least I didn't kill him. Grandma Chichi said the tea improves a man's mood after he sleeps. I'm sure the emperor won't wake up pissed with me.

With everything that just happened now? I needed some air. I swung my waderobe open, threw on a robe, and sprang out of the room.

I wrapped my hands around my bosom as I scrolled through the passageway, thinking about how I'm going to manage my new life now.

The emperor wants me so bad. And I can't keep a sleep-inducing herbal tea at my bedside all the time. It's only a matter of his getting onto my trick and finally making his way with me.

The thought of having children with a man I've never loved made my skin crawl.

Ah…I remember why I hate this place. Suddenly, I wish I could bolt out into the woods and flee for my life…

“Where did you get that scent?” A voice in the dark made my skin stand erect.

I whipped around, and it was Daevir, standing in a corner, leaning on the wall, his hands crossed, and his gaze darkened.
