Chapter 164
Chapter 164
Erin's POV
When sunlight shone through the curtain gaps, I awoke from my light sleep. Jasper was gone, leaving only rumpled sheets and his scent on the bed. I immediately jumped up and rushed to the door—it was locked, of course. I tried the windows and found they were all welded shut, with only small ventilation gaps.
"Damn it," I cursed, my wolf claws involuntarily appearing then retracting as I desperately looked for an exit.
Hours later, footsteps sounded outside the door, and a female werewolf with a cold expression entered carrying a tray with a simple breakfast.
"Taylor went to prepare for the operation," she said carelessly, her gaze contemptuous as she scanned me. "This is all you get to eat."
"Wait!" I quickly called out to her. "Can I see Jasper?"
The female werewolf sneered, looking me up and down. "What, haven't been fucked enough? Seems his technique is good." Her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Too bad you probably won't get another chance."
Fighting the urge to rip out her throat, I forced a smile. "Just... tell him I'm waiting for him, okay? I have some... personal things to say."
"Whatever," she shrugged. "But don't get your hopes up. Everyone's busy today."
The door was locked again, and I immediately went to the window, observing outside through the narrow gaps. The area was unusually busy. Teams of werewolves came and went, fully armed, some even carrying weapons. The air was filled with tension and excitement, mixed with the smell of blood.
My heart raced, my stomach tightening. This isn't an ordinary operation; this is the prelude to a war.
As night fell, I grew increasingly anxious. Activity outside intensified, with occasional howls, seemingly preparing for some major event. Finally, I knocked hard on the door.
"Hey! I want to see Jasper!" I shouted, my fists pounding on the wooden door.
The guard outside responded impatiently, "He's busy. Shut up and stay put!"
"Then call someone else!" I continued shouting. "I want out!"
"Keep making noise and I'll come in and fuck you to death!"
I gritted my teeth and retreated to the bed, pacing anxiously. Alexander, where are you? Do you know about the danger?
Hours later, when I was almost in despair, the lock finally clicked, and Jasper walked in.
He was completely transformed—dressed in all-black tactical gear, with a gun and dagger at his waist, his eyes cold and focused, making my wolf instincts alert.
"Are you okay?" he asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
"No, I'm not okay," I answered directly, staring at the weapons at his waist. "Being locked in here, watching preparations for some terrible operation outside—do you think I'd be okay?"
Jasper sighed, sitting down beside me. The mattress sank under his weight. "Listen, Erin, I can't change what's happening. But I can protect you. When this is over, I'll take you away from Seattle, to the Eastern Claw territory. It's safe there."
My heart raced, not because of his proposal, but because of the seriousness of the situation. "Jasper," I lowered my voice, suddenly changing tactics, softening my tone as I placed my hand gently on his arm, feeling his tense muscles. "You've always been good to me... I can feel you're sincere."
His expression softened, his guard gradually dropping. "I am serious, Erin. I never thought I'd meet someone like you during a mission."
I carefully moved closer to him, my fingers trailing along his arm, feeling him tremble at my touch. "You know, when you kissed me last night... I wasn't actually against it."
His gaze immediately became heated, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Erin..."
"I'm just... scared," I said softly, deliberately making my voice husky and alluring as I looked directly at him, showing my vulnerable side. "If something terrible is really going to happen tonight... maybe we shouldn't waste time."
Jasper's breathing quickened, his pupils dilating with desire. He leaned forward, cupping my face with both hands. "Are you sure?"
I nodded, letting him kiss my lips. His kiss was urgent and passionate, his tongue eagerly exploring my mouth, fingers running through my hair, pulling me closer. I forced myself to respond, wrapping my arms around his neck, feeling his heart racing.
When his hands began exploring my body, sliding toward my breasts, I gently pushed him away, feigning shyness. "Wait... that's a bit too fast."
"I'm sorry," he apologized immediately. "I got too excited. We can take it slower."
I smiled and nodded, my fingers brushing his cheek. "Could you... could you turn off the lights first? I'm a little nervous."
Jasper immediately stood up, eagerly rushing toward the light switch. In the moment his back was turned, I slid quietly off the bed, grabbing a pair of silver handcuffs from the bedside table—clearly one of the "decorations" in this "special" room.
"You know," I said softly, making him turn around. "I've always thought you were special, Jasper."
He smiled as he walked back to the bed, desire burning in his eyes, completely unaware of the object in my hand. "I feel the same way, Erin. From the first day I saw you, I—"
I struck swiftly, with one quick motion cuffing one of his wrists to the metal headboard. His expression rapidly changed from surprise to fury.
"Erin! What the FUCK are you doing?" he growled angrily, trying to break free, but the silver handcuffs weakened his werewolf strength, leaving him as helpless as an ordinary human.
"I'm sorry," I backed away several steps, my fingers transforming into sharp claws. "But I need to know what you're planning to do to Alexander."
Jasper roared, completely losing his previous gentleness. "It's too late! The operation has already begun! You can't change anything!"
"What operation?" I demanded, pressing my claws against his throat. "What are you going to do to him? Tell me!"
He pressed his lips tightly together, determination flashing in his eyes. "Killing me won't help. After I'm dead, they'll still carry out the plan."
"Why?" I shook my head, asking in confusion. "Why is targeting Alexander so important?"
"It's the Alpha's decision!" he roared. "No one can change it!"
Just then, a massive explosion sounded in the distance, shaking the entire building, followed by a chorus of wolf howls. Jasper's expression turned cold, a fanatical gleam in his eyes. "It's begun. The operation has started!"
I rushed to the window, peering through the gaps to see the night sky illuminated by flames in the distance. The streets filled with werewolves rapidly assembling and moving in a specific direction. Fear filled my entire body—they had really launched their attack, and Alexander could be in danger.
Damn it, there wasn't much time!
I turned and walked toward the door. "Wait!" Jasper struggled desperately, the silver handcuffs leaving red burns on his wrist. "Erin, don't go! It's too dangerous out there!"
"I have to stop this," I said firmly, my wolf growling inside, ready for battle.
"They'll kill you!" he shouted urgently, genuine fear flashing in his eyes. "Erin! Are you CRAZY? You're going to die for a cheating man?!"
"Alexander didn't cheat," I turned back to glare at him. "The baby in Lydia's belly isn't Alexander's. You should think carefully about who the father really is."
Jasper's eyes widened, his mouth falling open in shock. "What? That's impossible..."
I looked back at him one last time, the confusion and concern in his eyes making my heart soften for a moment, but thinking of the danger Alexander might be facing strengthened my resolve.
"I'm sorry," I said, then quickly struck, delivering a precise blow to a vital point on his neck, rendering him unconscious.
I carefully opened the door, confirming the guard had been drawn away by the distant commotion, and slipped out quietly. Every step was fraught with danger, but I had no choice—I needed to find Alexander and stop the impending bloodbath.
