Chapter 159
Chapter 159
“The Return of the Lost Luna”
Camila, the long lost daughter of Jack, had returned. But it was not just her presence that stunned the pack — it was the child walking beside her, his aura strange, his eyes like molten light.
They whispered his name in awe and confusion.
Kael.
Children peeked from behind their mothers as Camila now sat in the village square. Warriors paused mid-training, their swords lowering as if struck by reverence. The older wolves, those who remembered her exile, stood in silence — guilt and disbelief reflected in their faces.
Camila kept her chin high, her heart thudding against her chest. Every breathe she took was heavy with history. The cobblestone path in her feet was the same she had run across moons ago, barefoot and broken, when betrayal had driven her into the Moonlight pack. Now, she returned not as a victim, but as a mother — and as someone who had survived.
Kael, her son, walked beside her. Though barely twelve, he carried himself with an air of calm beyond his years. His silver-white hair glimmered under the sunlight, and his presence stirred the air like ripples on still water. Some wolves bowed instinctively as he passed — an unconscious reaction to his divine aura.
From the crowd, an elder murmured, “He carries the moon’s mark.”
Another whispered, “He’s truly her child… but whose blood really runs through him?”
Camila heard the murmurs but kept her eyes forward. The pack would have questions, and she was ready to face them all.
At the heart of the pack’s compound, the council hall doors swung open. Inside, Alpha Marcus and Commander Jack waited with the elders. Camila’s breath hitched when she saw her father, standing in Silver pack land. Time had etched deeper lines on his face, but the strength in his stance remained.
Jack’s eyes softened when they met hers. “Camila.”
She bowed. “Father.”
An elders' eyes drifted to the boy beside her, his feelings still doubt. “And this… is he—?”
Camila placed her hand on Kael’s shoulder. “My son. Kael Marcus.”
The mention of Marcus’s name did not go unnoticed. The council members exchanged glances. One of the older wolves, Elder Daren, frowned.
“You mean to tell uus that this child bears both Moonlight and Silver blood?”
Camila met his gaze without flinching. “Yes. Kael was born under the moon’s blessing, when both packs were at war with themselves. He is not a shame to be hidden — he is the bridge the goddess promised.”
A long silence followed. Even the torches seemed to flicker in hesitation.
Marcus rose from his chair. “The child carries no curse,” he said. “He carries the hope that neither of our packs could achieve alone.”
Jack’s voice was rough with emotion. “My grandson.”
Camila’s heart clenched. Hearing him say those words — my grandson — was something she hadn’t dared to imagine.
Jack stepped forward, his expression caught between regret and awe. When he stopped before Kael, he knelt down so their eyes met.
“You have your mother’s spirit,” he said. “And your father’s strength.”
Kael looked at him curiously, then smiled — the same knowing smile Marcus often wore. “My mother told me you’re brave,” he said. “But also stubborn.”
A few chuckles broke out in the hall, easing the tension. Jack laughed, a sound that hadn’t been heard in years. “She’s right about that.”
For a moment, the generations of pain between them began to heal.
Outside, however, not everyone shared the same joy.
As the news spread, old divisions resurfaced. Some wolves feared what Kael represented — an heir born outside the silver pack, during exile, his powers untested. Rumors slithered through the pack like shadows.
“What if he’s the next Alpha of both packs?” one warrior whispered.
“That would upset the Moon Council’s balance.”
“Or maybe he’s the goddess’s weapon.”
By noon, the training ground was alive with debate. Some of the younger wolves admired Mark’s strength. They’d heard the stories — how he healed an entire den of sick pups in Moonlight, how his aura calmed even the fiercest betas. Others, however, felt uneasy.
“He’s not one of us,” a voice muttered. “He’s Moonlight-born.” He now their savior, their trusted young Alpha.
“We bled for the Silver Pack when the Moonlight wolves attacked our borders. We are rivals. And now we’re supposed to bow to their child?”
Elder Mira, the healer who once saved Camila, overheard him. She stepped forward, her eyes glinting like tempered steel. “You forget who protected this pack when your warriors fell. If not for Marcus and Camila’s alliance, none of us would be here.”
“And what of the prophecy? The Moon Goddess promised the Silver heir would be pure. This boy—” he gestured toward the hall, “—is the child of forbidden union.”
“The goddess never said purity meant bloodline. She said it meant heart.”
The crowd fell silent. Some elders gritted their teeth but said nothing more.
Later that evening, Camila walked through the meadow behind the healer’s hut, where the moonflowers grew. Mark followed, his hands glowing as he touched each bloom. Wherever his fingers brushed, the petals unfurled in silver.
She stopped and watched him, her heart swelling with both pride and fear. “You shouldn’t show your powers so openly, young Alpha. “Not yet. Some wolves may not understand.”
“But the flowers understand, Mother. They open when I speak to them.”
Camila smiled. “I know, my love. But not all hearts bloom as easily as these flowers.”
“Marcus looked sad when he saw me. Did I do something wrong?”
Her throat tightened. “No, Mark. You did everything right. It’s just… sometimes love takes time to remember its way back.”
He walked closer and slipped his hand into hers. “Then I’ll wait. You and Marcus always say the moon teaches patience.”
Camila knelt and embraced him. “You’re wise beyond your years.”
“I just listen to the moon,” Mark said innocently. “She whispers to me when the world gets too loud.”
Camila froze for a heartbeat. The Moon Goddess spoke to him?
Before she could ask more, a rustle from the trees made her turn. Marcus emerged, watching them with a fond smile.
“You two look like a painting of peace,” he said.
Mark ran to him and hugged his leg. “Father, I showed the flowers how to glow.”
Marcus chuckled, ruffling his hair. “You’ll have the entire forest glowing before winter ends.” Then his tone grew serious as he turned to Camila. “The council will meet again at dawn. They’re divided. Some want Kael recognized as heir to both packs; others want him hidden away until he’s of age.”
Camila’s eyes darkened. “He’s not a threat to anyone.”
Marcus nodded. “I know. But fear makes people forget truth.”
She exhaled. “Then we remind them — together.”
At dawn, the moon lingered in the sky as both packs gathered at the meeting field. Wolves from the Silver and Moonlight packs stood side by side, their faces a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty.
Camila, Marcus, Jack, and Mark stood before them.
“Years ago, we fought each other for power. But power never brought peace. It was this woman,” —he gestured to Camila— “who taught us that healing begins with forgiveness. And this child,” he placed a hand on Kael’s shoulder, “is proof that love between rivals can create something stronger than bloodlines.”
“The Moon told me that families who fight forget their hearts,” Mark said. “She said if the Silver pack loves her light, we must love each other too.”
The crowd fell silent. Even the breeze seemed to pause.
Then an old wolf near the front dropped to one knee. “Bless the goddess,” he whispered. “Bless the child.”
One by one, others followed — first the Silver wolves, then the Moonlight ones. The air trembled with reverence as Kael’s growing fast.
Jack’s eyes filled with tears. “He truly carries the moon’s gift,” he murmured.
Camila turned to Marcus, her heart swelling. “Do you see it? The unity you dreamed of — it’s happening.”
Marcus wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “No, Camila. You made it happen. You brought the lost light home.”
That night, as the two packs feasted together for the first time in generations, Mark sat watching the stars.
“Mother?” he asked. “Will they always love each other like this?”
Camila smiled, brushing his hair from his eyes. “If the moon keeps watching, they will.”
“Then I’ll make sure she never looks away.” Mark whispered.
And under that light, the Silver Pack — once divided by betrayal and pride — finally remembered what it meant to be whole.
The lost Luna had returned, not alone, but with the living promise of peace in her son — Kael, child of gift and forgiveness.
