Chapter 156
Chapter 156
The Blessing of the Moon
The Moon Goddess had always worked in silence, weaving miracles only at the brink of despair. And tonight, under the gleam of the moon, she performed her greatest miracle yet.
Camila’s scream pierced through the hut deep within Moonlight Pack territory, her fingers clenching hard around the sweat-drenched sheets. The healer, moved, her hands glowing with divine energy as she coaxed the child into the world. The maid, whispered prayers to the Goddess, trembling in both fear and joy.
“Push, Luna! One more! Just one more!”
Camila’s body shook with the final effort, and then — a cry. A strong, healthy cry that echoed like a wolf’s first roar.
The world paused.
A boy… her son… Marcus’s heir.
Tears flooded Camila’s eyes as the healer wrapped the newborn in a white cloth, marked with moon-thread. The air shimmered with a sacred energy — a sign of divine blessing. Mira gasped as she lifted the child.
“My Luna… look.” She whispered. “The Goddess has touched him. He carries her mark.”
There, upon the baby’s tiny chest, glowed a shaped birthmark — bright and pure as the moon itself.
Camila held him close, sobbing as she kissed the mark.
“Welcome, my little moon,” she whispered. “You are the hope they never believed I could carry.”
“He will be a great Alpha one day. And through him, Silver Pack shall rise.”
Camila nodded, chest swelling with a pride she had been denied for too long.
But as joy washed over her, a new fear slithered in.
Marcus.
He deserved to know now. He had waited, suffered, fought for her honor… for their future. He needed this hope as much as she did.
Her hand trembled as she reached for the enchanted communicator hidden inside her pillow — a direct link only between her and Marcus.
She breathed once… twice…
Then pressed the rune.
The connection ignited instantly.
At the Silver Pack fortress, Marcus stood, catching the wind cold against his skin. His heart filled with the weight of lies, pressure, scheming elders, and wolves who no longer respected him.
The bond with Camila — once bright — had grown with distance and secrecy. Each night without her carved deeper wounds into his soul.
He stared into the sky, wondering if he had made an unforgivable mistake by sending her away. When suddenly…
His communicator flared with light.
His heart kicked — hard.
“Camila?” he breathed, voice breaking.
There was a moment of shaky breathing…
Then her voice, fragile yet overflowing with joy:
“Marcus… our child is here.”
Time stopped.
“Our… child?” he echoed, barely able to comprehend.
“A boy,” Camila whispered. “Strong. Healthy. The Goddess’s blessing glowing on his chest.”
Marcus dropped to his knees.
His lungs failed to work.
His throat burned.
Tears — tears he had buried for months — surged free.
“A son…” He choked. “My heir. Our miracle.”
Camila sobbed on the other end, both relieved and afraid.
“I wish you could hold him, my love. He looks just like you… but he has my eyes.”
Marcus pressed a trembling hand against the communicator, wishing it were her skin.
“What is his name?” he asked, his voice torn between awe and fear. “Tell me what we shall call the one the Goddess has given us.”
Camila looked down at the blessing in her arms.
Mark had suggested names earlier, and she had chosen her favorite.
“The healer says his birthmark represents divine favor. In the ancient tongue, the name for such a blessing is Kael — ‘the one blessed by the Moon’. In English, that name also means ‘triumphant’.”
Marcus breathed the name like a sacred promise.
“Kael.”
The name felt powerful. Right.
A symbol of everything they had bled for.
But even as his heart swelled, he knew the danger hadn’t passed.
“Camila,” Marcus whispered, “you must remain hidden. The elders… they want to replace you. They believe you abandoned your duty. If they discover you gave birth — that you are fertile — Grath will stop at nothing to destroy you and Kael.”
Camila nodded though he couldn’t see.
“I know. Mark insists we wait here until Kael is strong enough. Until then, Silver Pack must believe what they wish.”
Marcus clenched his jaw.
“No. They will know the truth — soon. I will not let anyone shame you again.”
“Not yet,” she pleaded, voice trembling. “Give me time with him. Let him grow under safety and love, far from hate-filled eyes.”
Marcus closed his eyes. He hated every second apart, but… she was right.
Their son must not be used as a weapon in pack politics.
When he spoke again, his tone was full of reverence.
“Thank you, Camila. For enduring the pain. The fear. The loneliness. You have given me everything I ever wanted.”
Camila smiled through tears.
“And you gave me love when I believed I didn’t deserve it.”
Silence enveloped them —sacred.
A silence only broken by the coo of the newborn.
Marcus’s breath caught again.
“May I… hear him?”
Camila turned the communicator, letting the bond carry Kael’s noises through the distance. A whimper… then a baby growl.
Marcus laughed — a broken laugh he had never made before.
“My son already sounds like a warrior.”
“And like his father,” Camila teased back.
They stayed connected — souls intertwined — until Kael drifted asleep. Camila kissed his forehead, her voice tender.
“He is the Goddess’s proof, Marcus. A promise of better days.”
Marcus stood, shoulders straightening, a new fire burning in his chest.
“For him… for you… I will endure anything. I will protect our family — even if it costs me my life.”
Camila sighed, the bond between them pulsing with love and gratitude.
“Soon,” she whispered, “we will be together. Soon we will stand before them and silence every doubt.”
Marcus nodded.
“And when that day comes, Kael will be introduced not as a secret… but as the rightful heir of Silver Pack.”
Their connection pulsed one last time — then faded into a mist.
Marcus remained still, breathing heavily, staring up at the moon… no longer cold… no longer distant.
For the first time in months, he felt alive.
He whispered into the night:
“Kael Marcus.
The Moon Goddess’s chosen.
My pride.
My son.”
Back in the quiet hut, Camila gazed down at the face against her chest. Joy overwhelmed every scar, every insult, every moment of humiliation she had suffered.
She pressed a protective kiss to his warm head.
“You are everything they said I would never have,” she murmured. “You are hope… flesh and bone.”
Outside, wolves howled, a song of blessing and omen.
“My Luna, when the time comes, the entire world will kneel for him.” Mira whispered.
Camila tightened her hold, resolve sharpening like a blade.
“Let them doubt me. Let them scheme. Let them chase illusions of another Luna.”
She lifted her chin, eyes glowing with both the love of a mother… and the strength of a queen.
“When I return, I will return with proof that the Moon Goddess never abandoned me. And then those who mocked me…”
She paused, eyes bright this time.
“…will beg for forgiveness.”
Kael stirred, and Camila smiled — a victorious smile.
The Silver Pack thought their Luna was gone.
But she was not broken.
She was reborn.
With the Goddess’s miracle in her arms.
With the future of their pack in her hands.
And very soon…
The world would know his name.
Kael —
The Blessed Wolf Prince.
