Chapter 155

Chapter 155

The Luna in Hiding

Eight moons had passed like quiet storms.

Camila’s once-flat belly was now a full curve — proof of the goddess’s blessing growing strong inside her. Every morning, she woke with her hands resting upon that new life. Every night, she dreamed of kicks turning into paws running through the Silver Pack grounds.

Except… those dreams always ended with Marcus calling for her in agony.

But she forced fear aside.
She had to believe this sacrifice — this distance — had a purpose.

“Slowly, Luna,” the healer warned as she helped Camila sit upright.

The maid, a young wolf, fluffed the pillows behind her. Her eyes held admiration — as if she were serving royalty.

“You mustn’t strain yourself,” the healer added.

Camila chuckled. “I’m pregnant, not dying.”

But the healer shook her head. “This is no ordinary child. You carry destiny in your womb… and destiny is heavy.”

Camila’s face hoarse as she stroked over her stomach. The baby moved — strong.

For a moment, she allowed herself to smile.

Mark entered the chamber. Powerful, every stride silencing doubts in any room he walked into. His Alpha aura had only grown since Camila’s arrival — the Moonlight Pack revered him like a star touched by the goddess.

But around his mother, he softened.

“You are glowing,” he said, brushing her cheek.

“Say instead I’m huge,” she teased.

His laugh was a balm to her soul. “The biggest miracle deserves the largest throne.”

She rolled her eyes affectionately. “Marcus says the same.”

His laughter faltered — a shadow in his eyes.

Camila immediately noticed. “What news?”.

“The Silver Pack grows restless. Their voices are louder. Their loyalty doubted.”

Camila’s heart skipped. “Marcus?”

“Still refusing to yield,” Mark answered. “But Grath’s influence spreads like infection.”

Camila closed her eyes, breathing through the ache in her chest. “He must be suffering.”

Mark took her hands. “He stands strong. But a strong man alone is still alone.”

Tears touched the corners of her eyes.

She had promised herself she would not break. But the thought of Marcus facing the world without her…

Her voice cracked, no longer Luna-firm:

“I should be with him.”

Mira whisked away to fetch warm tea — sensing the moment required privacy.

“No, you should be safe.”

“But what is safety without my mate?”

“A child without a mother,” Mark answered, “is a wound the world never stops pressing.”

Camila’s breath stilled.

“You think… something could happen?”

Mark didn’t answer immediately — and that, more than words, confirmed her fear.

“Moon Goddess prophecies do not come soft, we must honor them with caution.”

Camila hadn’t forgotten her dream — of Mark holding a toddler and begging her to save him.

And she knew Mark hadn’t forgotten it either.

By midday, Mark returned to his Alpha duties — court meetings, border patrol updates, trade decisions — but before he left, he placed a protective charm made from sacred roots by her bedside.

“For your child. For strength,” he whispered.

As the door shut behind him, Camila pressed the charm to her heart.

“He already protects us,” she murmured to her unborn child. “Just like Marcus always has.”

The baby kicked hard. As if agreeing.

She laughed through soft tears.

“My boy… or maybe my girl,” she whispered. “You’re already a fighter.”

Night fell.

With it came the painful silence of longing.

Camila lay awake, hands on her belly, listening to the pack’s distant howls beyond the walls. They sounded happy — united — unlike her own pack currently ripping itself apart.

She imagined Marcus walking his lonely halls. His empty bed. His wolf pacing inside him, confused… enraged… abandoned.

A whisper of guilt filled the room.

“I should be home,” she breathed.

Her wolf whimpered within her.

She turned to her side, staring at the moonlit. Her heart spoke louder than reason:

“Mate… I’m coming home soon. I promise.”

A sudden discomfort struck her abdomen, unexpected.

She gasped, clutching her belly.

Mira rushed in instantly. “Luna? Are you—?”

Camila forced a breath, pushing through the pain. “Just a cramp… I think.”

The healer arrived moments later, hands glowing pale white as she checked Camila’s stomach.

Her eyes widened — but she masked worry quickly.

“It’s too soon,” Camila whispered.

The healer set her jaw and nodded. “The child fights its way into the world. You must remain calm.”

Camila leaned back, sweat forming at her temples. Eight moons. A powerful heir. Perhaps too powerful.

The healer muttered a prayer to the goddess, voice trembling.

“This is a child born of prophecy. It may not obey time like other wolves.”

Camila breathed through the pain — but her heart raced.

Marcus needs to know…
He needs to meet our child.

Meanwhile…

In the Silver Pack, Marcus stood on the cliff overlooking the moonlit valley — the weight of leadership crushing his chest. His wolf pushed against his skin:

Where is mate? Why is she silent? Something is wrong.

Marcus clutched his heart — as if he could hold the bond from breaking the distance.

When the moon hit its zenith, he whispered:

“Camila… give me a sign you and my our heir are alive.”

The wind answered with only emptiness.

Back in Moonlight Pack…

Mark returned to find the healer kneeling beside Camila, chanting prayers, sweat and fear battling on her skin.

“What happened?!” His voice yelled.

Camila forced a smile through the strain. “Your little sibling is impatient.”

Mark’s face changed — the Alpha replaced by the terrified son.

“It is not time! The goddess isn’t—”

The healer interrupted, “You must call upon your gift again. Only you can calm the child!”

Mark closed his eyes and exhaled — steadying both wolf and man. He placed one hand over his mother’s stomach.

A blue light flowed from his palm — ancient as the first moon.

Camila gasped — the pain softened like melting snow. The baby stilled. Peace returned within her womb.

When the glow faded, Camila lay panting — but smiling.

“You… are extraordinary.” She brushed tears from her eyes. “The Silver Pack never deserved you.”

Mark kissed her forehead. “I am what you made me. And one day, they will all know.”

Camila nodded, exhaustion claiming her strength.

“Then promise me,” she whispered as her eyes fluttered…

“When the time comes…
take me home.”

Mark stiffened — fear flickering. But he understood.

“Yes,” he vowed. “I promise.”

Camila drifted into sleep — her wolf curled around the child inside.

Mark stood guard at her bedside, his hand resting where life kicked in her skin.

“The heir of two Alphas…” he murmured. “A future no pack will deny again.”

But his eyes darkened — full of dread.

“And those who try…
will face the wrath of the Moon.”

Far away…

The moon shivered behind a cloud.

As if the goddess herself held her breath…

Waiting.
