Chapter 152
Chapter 152
The Hidden Heir
The goddess’s blessing on Camila had crashed into her like a wave of fire. Her womb, once a hollow ache of despair, now pulsed with undeniable life.
Camila placed both hands over her abdomen, holding her breath as if afraid the miracle might vanish if she exhaled too harshly.
Pregnant? She whispered.
The word felt fragile, trembling and scared.
But also…it felt like victory.
Mark stood by the open balcony, his aura carried an authority different from Marcus’s. Not the brute strength of an Alpha forged in battle — but the divine certainty of one blessed from birth.
He turned to her, his voice softening only for her:
“You must remain hidden here. This is the Moonlight Pack’s secret — our future. If Silver Pack finds out before the child comes…they will destroy everything, like before.”
Camila's throat tightening. “Marcus still faces them alone. He bears all the hate meant for me.”
Mark walked closer, kneeling to meet her face.
“You gave Silver Pack your loyalty, your body, your heart, your future. They paid you back with cruelty and doubt. Let them face the consequences of their faithlessness.”
His tone was protective — fueled by every injustice ever thrown at his mother. But Camila shook her head.
“Not all of them betrayed me. Some wolves believed in me. Some still do. Marcus… he has never once wavered.”
Mark’s eyes softened — understanding tugging at the edges of his strength.
“The Alpha of Silver Pack holds the line for you still.”
Camila nodded, tears slipping free.
“And I must return to him. He won’t survive this alone.”
Mark wiped the tears from her cheeks.
“I know, Mother. But you must think like a Luna — not a mate in love.
You carry destiny inside you now.”
He placed his palm over her stomach again. Camila gasped like a heartbeat fluttered against her skin.
“This life — it is the Goddess’s answer,” Mark said. “This child will unite two packs or destroy them.
You must survive… no matter the cost.”
Camila pressed his hand against her.
“Will I be able to hide from Marcus? He will feel the bond taking form.”
Mark hesitated — then truth spilled from him: “Soon the bond between you and your pup will scream through the mate bond you share with him. He will feel it. Wolves cannot hide life from their true mates forever.”
Camila closed her eyes, breath trembling.
She had prayed so long for the Goddess to speak. Now, silence had turned into a roar she could barely hold.
Marcus stood on the Alpha balcony, overlooking his restless pack. Every night since the failed ritual had drained something from him — pride, hope and even sanity. Wolves patrolled with agitation, gossip tearing through every household like wildfire.
Camila’s absence had become their obsession.
Their weapon.
Grath and his supporters walked with smug certainty — sowing new seeds of fear:
“The Luna abandoned her duty.”
“She fled because she knows the truth — she is barren.”
“Frayer will save us.”
Marcus’s wolf snarled inside him — desperate to tear apart every tongue that twisted Camila’s name into poison.
Lame approached from behind:
“Where is she, Marcus?
What if they are right?
What if Luna has…given up on us?”
Marcus turned, fury flashing across his eyes.
“She is my Luna. She would die before abandoning this pack.
She is out there…fighting for us in ways they will never understand.”
He spoke with a certainty that only came from love — but deep inside…
He felt something new stirring in the bond.
A flicker of warmth. A spark of life.
His breath caught. His fingers dug into the rail.
Camila?
Something…someone…was connected to her.
A heartbeat…not hers.
His wolf howled:
Our pup. OUR PUP!
Marcus staggered, losing his footing. Lame rushed forward, grabbing his arm.
“Alpha?! What is it?” He asked.
Marcus’s eyes shone with stunned glory and unrestrained yearning. “She’s alive…
And she’s pregnant.”
The words escaped like prayer — and warning.
Camila stood on the outer of the inhaling moonlit air, grounding herself in the thought: Marcus knows.
Maybe not the how.
Maybe not the where.
But he would feel her fertility restored.
He would feel the spark of life.
Suddenly, a guard appeared — frantic. “Alpha Mark! Rogues near the forest border! They are sniffing — looking — searching for someone!”
Camila’s heart froze. Rogues rarely hunted without direction…
This was organized.
Sent.
Her voice shook as she whispered:
“Grath!”
Mark growled, his Alpha power intensifying the air.
“He suspects. He’s searching for confirmation.”
Camila’s pulse hammered. “What if they find me?”
Mark bared his teeth, wolf battling at the surface.
“They won’t. I’ll tear apart anyone who gets close.”
He placed himself between her and the world beyond the railing — a silent vow forged in blood and love.
Warriors poured out of the fortress. Torches lit. Claws unsheathed. The night bristled with the threat of violence.
But nothing mattered more than the heartbeat in Camila’s palm.
She whispered to the life growing inside her: “Little one… you must hold on. Your father needs you.”
The silver Pack — pope ignites
Marcus stormed into the council hall, eyes blazing like wildfire.
Grath stood with smug confidence. Frayer lingered at his side, feigning concern.
Marcus’s voice yelled like thunder.
“The Goddess has blessed Camila!”
Shock rippled through the room — gasps and disbelief crashing together.
Marcus continued:
“She is with child.
Our heir.
Our future.”
Cheers erupted from wolves who had doubted but still hoped.
But Grath’s expression barely shifted — his eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
He hissed:
“Impossible. You defend a lie to protect a ghost. If she is blessed — where is she now?”
Marcus growled:
“Where she must be — under the protection of the Goddess.”
The hall erupted again — divided once more.
Lame moved to Marcus’s side.
“Alpha — the pack will need proof.”
Marcus clenched his fists. He felt the truth echoing in his bones — but he could not summon a Luna who could not yet return.
His wolf snorted:
Let them choke on doubt. She will come back with destiny in her arms.
Grath stepped forward, venom in his words: “The Alpha speaks of miracles…
But we see only abandonment.”
Marcus’s lips locked — rage trembling through him.
But he would not break.
Not now.
Not when Camila finally carried the future they fought so hard for.
Camila sat upright, determination solidifying inside her.
No more fear.
No more silence.
Mark returned, breathing heavy from the border patrol.
“It’s handled. For now. But they will come again.”
Camila looked him straight in the eyes. “Then train me. I am Luna — not a prisoner.”
Mark blinked — surprised.
Camila continued: “When the time comes, I will return to my pack — not as a broken woman — but as a mother carrying the Goddess’s judgment.”
“They will see what faith looks like.”
Mark bowed his head — pride glistening in his eyes.
“Then we prepare.
For war, if necessary.
For a new dawn.”
Camila’s hand lingered over her blessed secret. “The heir must live. Silver Pack must rise.
And Marcus… must hold on.”
A silent prayer rose from her heart to the Moon:
Let me be strong enough for all of them.
Because fate no longer waited for permission.
The Goddess had spoken through life.
And that life — the future of the Silver Pack — grew stronger with each passing moonbeam.
