Chapter 264 Millie Walks Away

Chapter 264 Millie Walks Away
Millie pulled her knees up, her hands resting on them. “Would you walk away from all this?”
Ethan’s brow furrowed. “Does this have to do with your bodyguard?” he asked. “Look, I get it—they can be a hassle. But my uncle still has loyal friends who weren’t thrilled I killed him. They’re partners from before I was born.”
Millie shook her head. “That’s not what I mean. Do you want this life, Ethan?”
He leaned back, his jaw tightening, the question hitting a nerve. “Where’s this coming from, Amelia? Do you want me to walk away from it?”
“Maybe. I don’t know.”
Ethan’s eyes darkened, a mix of frustration and something deeper—perhaps vulnerability—flickering across his face. “This is my entire life, Amelia. It’s who I am.”
Millie held his gaze. Silence stretched, heavy, as Ethan watched her. Then she sat up, her back straight, her thoughts crystallizing into words she could no longer hold back. “I don’t want this kind of life,” she said, each word carrying the ache of her realization.
Ethan’s expression hardened, disbelief crossing his face. “I’m giving you everything you want. You’re free to do whatever you please. Is this about Aidan?”
“No.” Her chest tightened, but she didn’t waver. “But tell me this—why do you want me in your life?”
Ethan leaned in, his hand capturing her face, fingers sliding along her jaw slowly. His gaze devoured her, eyes suddenly dark with primal hunger.
“You really don’t see it, Amelia?” he whispered. “I’m consumed by you. Every part of me is wrapped up in you. The way you taste, the way you feel under my hands—it’s all I think about.”
“But Ethan,” Millie’s breath caught as she slightly pulled away, “what if I want more?”
Ethan’s gaze didn’t falter, his response immediate. “Then I’ll give it to you. Whatever you need.”
She took a deep breath, her heart pounding as she voiced the truth she’d been circling. “I want something simple. A real life. I want marriage, kids, and a quiet, boring kind of happiness.”
Ethan’s face shifted. “You’re going to leave me, aren’t you?” he said, the words heavy with accusation and fear.
Millie’s throat tightened, but she nodded. “I think I have to.”
Ethan’s jaw clenched. “No. You can’t.”
“Ethan…” Millie began, her voice trembling, but he cut her off, his eyes blazing.
“You want more proof of my feelings for you?” he said. “Let me show you.”
Before she could react, Ethan surged forward, pinning her to the bed with one hand, his weight a cage against her. His lips found her ear, tongue flicking out to trace the delicate curve before he sucked the lobe gently, then harder, a low growl rumbling in his chest. His other hand moved, fingers brushing his own lips first, wetting them with a slow, deliberate lick that made her breath hitch. Those glistening fingers trailed down, slipping under her skirt, past the lace of her panties, and plunging into her slick heat.
“You feel that, Amelia?” he murmured with desire.
“Ethan,” she gasped.
“I ache to have you writhing beneath me, your body mine to devour,” he muttered, his lips grazing her neck, teeth nipping at her pulse point.
He began to pump his fingers harder, curling them inside her, stroking the sensitive spot that made her vision blur. Millie’s body betrayed her, a throaty moan spilling from her lips as molten heat coiled tight in her core, her inner walls clenching around him.
She hated how weak she felt, how her hips bucked instinctively, grinding against his hand, chasing the electric pleasure surging through her. Her thighs quivered, slick with her own arousal, as she surrendered to the rhythm of his touch, each thrust of his fingers pulling her deeper into a haze of need.
“I crave every inch of you—your skin, your voice, the way you move when you’re losing yourself with me. That’s my truth, Amelia.”
Millie bit her lip and slowly reached to wrap her arms around Ethan’s neck. But then, Evan’s voice broke through—I love her so much it’s tearing me apart—and suddenly, two voices warred in her mind. One urged Ethan to push her over the edge, to let her lose herself in him. The other, louder, pulled her back to Evan, to the love he’d confessed.
Her breath came in ragged gasps, her body trembling, torn between surrender and resistance. Ethan’s voice cut through, possessive and claiming. “That’s right,” he said, his lips brushing her ear. “You’re mine, sweetheart.”
Her climax loomed, her body tightening, but Evan’s voice grew stronger, a scream in her heart, drowning out Ethan’s claim. With a sudden surge of clarity, Millie pushed against him, her hands firm on his chest.
“No, stop,” she said. “Ethan, stop!”
The force of her words and resolve caught Ethan off guard. He froze, then pulled back, his hand slipping away, his eyes wide with shock. They stared at each other, both panting, Millie’s face flushed, her chest heaving, her body still humming but her mind clear.
“Amelia—”
“I’m so sorry, Ethan.”
Millie slid off the bed despite her unsteady legs. She didn’t look back at Ethan or let herself falter as she walked to the door and stepped into the hallway, the door clicking shut behind her. For the first time in a long time, she felt the stirrings of freedom, of a choice that was hers alone.
