Chapter 113 Entertainment
Chapter 113 Entertainment
Salvatore's POV
The kitchen was still filled with aromas coming from what Alexandria is cooking. With a reflective smile on my face, I remembered the meal she prepared on the day we met.
"I might not be in the mood for steak after all.” I said and she turned from the skillet she'd already placed on the stove.
"You're not? Is the fever coming back? Are you losing your appetite?” The concern in her voice warmed my heart.
"Oh I have not lost my appetite.” I answered with a smirk, moving my eyes slowly on her body with intention.
A flush crept up her cheeks and she turned away from me quickly. "Well what is it then,?”
“How about pasta?" I came to stand behind her. “The exact one you made that day."
She gave no reply but I could tell she knew what I was talking about by how she stiffened up immediately. She let the silence linger for another ten seconds before she responded.
“You mean before I found out you were lying to me?"
“Alexandria……"
“No. It's fine. We'll have pasta then."
Her shoulders were firmly set and I mentally kicked myself for not thinking before I opened my lousy mouth.
“If you're too tired, we could have steak." I said instead.
“Nope. We're having pasta." She retrieved a deep pot from the cupboard with a clang and set it under the tap.
I placed my hands on her shoulders, “I'm sorry. I wish I could take it all back. Wish there was some other way to explain….."
"Why'd you make it then?”
"Kara requested," She replied with a shrug. "But if she isn't coming home, no reason we can't eat something else.”
I smiled and pointed behind her, "Your pot is filled.”
She quickly turned off the tap and then took a knife from the block and handed it to me, "Hope you know how to chop veggies."
“Uh….no?”
"Well tough shit. You're helping out,” She huffed and after a second's pause, curtsied and added, "Master.”
I laughed out loud, " Giving orders I see. Fine, I'll show those greens who's boss.”
We chatted away about silly nothings as we cooked. It brought back memories of the first time we did this. The first time I ever felt this way, this close to someone.
It was a different kind of intimacy, making a meal with someone you loved. Although I got taken off veggie duty after she came over to inspect and tutted disapprovingly at my heroic attempt julienning carrots.
I spent the rest of the time obeying instructions.
“Can you help me with that, Sal? Here hold this, Taste for salt, throw this in the bin……"
It was fun.
She made a delicious shrimp sauce to go with the pasta and I brought up the idea of eating in the cozy recreational room.
I had designed the place myself. With Audrey's help admittedly but most of it was mine.
One panel of the wall was glass for the view of nature outside, a large flat screen TV hung on the wall adjacent to that, Audrey had supplied the plants, a ton of them and so the room had a prevalent hue of green.
There was no sofa. Just a plush purple velvet rug in front of the TV and a large white bean bag behind it.
"You want us to eat here?” She asked, looking around.
"Yup. Dinner and a show.” I nodded towards the TV.
"The TV isn't the main point…. It's just nicer to eat here.”
She snorted and shook her head in amusement. "Rich people shenanigans. I don't think it matters where we eat but ok.” She shrugged.
I never got to use the recreational room with Audrey. Vacation ended before we could. She settled onto the rug and I saw her try to hide a smile of satisfaction at its silky softness.
"You like it huh?” I teased.
She squared her shoulders stubbornly,
"Well it's nice. But it must be a nightmare to wash.”
I chuckled and poked her arm, "Good thing you don't have to worry about that.”
After much bickering and our food getting cold because of it, we settled on a movie we would both enjoy.
The rain had reduced to a light shower but thunder still rumbled in the distance indicating it would resume pouring cats and dogs later at night.
By the middle of the movie, we were done eating and had somehow both gravitated onto the beanbag. She leaned into me and rested a head on my shoulder.
I scooched closer so she could get closer and she did so with a satisfied moan.
I buried my face into her hair and sniffed, rubbing along her shoulders. Neither of us were paying attention to the movie any longer.
Her hand strayed to my chest and she sighed in contentment. I kissed the top of her head.
“Feeling sleepy yet?" I whispered.
“A little." She raised her head to gaze at me.
In the darkness lit up only by the glow from the tv, her blue eyes sparkled. Like marble orbs. Her lips, small, full, and soft.
I didn't let myself think, I cupped the back of her head and drew her close. She didn't resist. She came forward willingly and our lips met.
It was a rush of new feelings each time I kissed her. Each time her body came alive in my arms.
This time, I knew I wasn't going to stop. And I knew she wasn't going to stop me.
We kissed slowly. Lips gently exploring, hands slowly traveling around each other's bodies.
Her hand moved from my chest, down the quivering flesh of my abdomen, down to the waistband of the grey joggers I had on and then started to move back up.
I took hold of her hand gently and moved it back down. Down where she was too apprehensive to explore.
She gasped, her eyes filled with uncertainty.
“You don't have to be scared of me, Alexandria."
