Chapter 449

Chapter 449
Ariel Drummnd

We walked side by side to the top of the stairs. Light streaming through the windows illuminated the polished marble, and I could see my reflection—slightly flushed, yet with a sparkle in my eyes that hadn't been there before. N'zar stopped, turned to face me, and took my hands in his. His thumbs caressed my skin, sending a shiver running through my body. "Rest, Ariel," he said, his voice soft yet carrying an undeniable authority. "You need to gather your strength for what lies ahead."

What lay ahead. The Sultan’s invitation. The dress, the jewels. The sheer grandeur of it all. My mind, previously consumed by desire, now began to process the magnitude of the upcoming events. N'zar leaned in and kissed my forehead—a tender gesture that contrasted sharply with the intensity of moments before. "I have duties to attend to as a territory chief," he continued, and I could see the weight of responsibility in his eyes. "But we shall see each other soon." He said his goodbyes, and I watched him walk away, his imposing figure growing smaller as he headed toward the main entrance. The sound of his footsteps echoed down the hallway, and then—silence. He was gone, swallowed by the vastness of the mansion and the demands of his world. I stood there for a moment, soaking in the silence, feeling the emptiness he had left behind. The scent of his cologne still lingered in the air, a persistent reminder of his presence.

With a sigh, I turned and began to climb the stairs. Each step was an effort, as if my muscles were exhausted. The ache between my thighs remained, a constant reminder of the pleasure I had experienced. My thoughts wandered, revisiting every touch, every kiss, every whispered word. N'zar was a man of passion and power, and I was drawn to him in a way that both frightened and aroused me. The comparison to Arthur, which had crossed my mind moments earlier, now seemed almost insignificant. N'zar was in a league of his own—a man who commanded not only his territory but also my senses.

I reached my room, a sanctuary of comfort and privacy. I turned the handle and stepped inside, closing the door softly behind me. The sound of the latch clicking shut gave me a sense of security, of being cut off from the outside world. The room was dark, heavy curtains blocking out the sunlight. The dimness was welcoming, an invitation to rest.

My eyes wandered over the familiar room: the vanity holding my perfumes and jewelry, the soft armchair where I used to read, and, finally, my bed. The bed, vast and inviting, seemed to beckon me. I drew closer, feeling weariness take hold of my body. The dress, which had felt tight earlier, now weighed heavily upon me. With a quick movement, I shed it, letting it slip to the floor like a second skin. The feel of cool air against my bare skin was a relief—a contrast to the heat still burning within me.

I sank into the soft sheets, feeling the cool cotton against my skin. The down pillow cradled my head, and I nestled in, seeking the most comfortable position. N'zar's scent still lingered on me—a fragrance mingling with my own perfume and the gentle aroma of fresh linens. I closed my eyes, and images of the office, of N'zar, and of his touches and kisses danced through my mind. Exhaustion—both physical and emotional—began to envelop me. My thoughts grew hazy, sensations blurred together, and I let myself drift. Sleep, a soft and comforting veil, embraced me, and I slipped into an abyss of unconsciousness, dreaming of sultans, gowns, and, of course, N'zar.
