Chapter 184
Chapter 184
Sophia's POV:
"Michael," I whispered, but he gently shook his head.
"Do you remember the day when, after I was poisoned, you went to get medicine for me and talked with Chloe about fatedmate?" he asked suddenly, his voice soft but serious.
I blinked, confused by the unexpected question, but nodded slowly. "Yes, I remember."
A small smile played at the corners of his lips. "I heard everything you said that day."
My mind raced back to that conversation.
It was the day Kevin had told me about meeting my fated mate. I had been sitting in the living room, sharing the entire prophecy with Chloe, feeling both excited and skeptical about the possibility.
"You heard us?" I asked, surprised.
Michael's smile grew wider, though there was something vulnerable in his expression. "I was finding you when I heard you telling Chloe about finding your fated mate."
Suddenly, I recalled hearing the sound of something breaking, followed by Michael appearing moments later.
"Micheal, " I breathed, the memory crystallizing. "So you knew it back then."
Michael nodded, his cheeks flushing slightly. "Hearing that you were going to meet your fated mate... it nearly broke me, Sophia."
My heart clenched painfully. "You were really that affected by it?"
"I was devastated," he admitted, his voice raw with remembered pain. "I already had such slim chances competing against Lucas, the man you loved so deeply. Adding a fated mate into the equation... I thought I had no chance at all. That's why I chose to leave Starlight Pack."
The guilt crashed over me in waves. I thought of how Michael had left Starlight Pack shortly after that conversation, how he'd thrown himself into dangerous missions.
"I'm so sorry, Michael," I whispered, tears stinging my eyes. "I never realized your feelings for me ran so deep."
Michael shook his head gently, his thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down my cheek. "Don't apologize, Sophia. I'm not telling you this to make you feel guilty. I just want to tell you how excited and lucky I feel to be your fatedmate."
"But don't you mind?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "That I chose Lucas over you, again and again?"
His voice was filled with self-reproach. "That's not your problem. If only I had felt our bond earlier, I could have saved you from all that suffering in the Starlight Pack. I should have protected you from what Lucas put you through."
I looked at Michael with a mixture of amusement and disbelief. "That has absolutely nothing to do with you, Michael."
Michael's blue eyes sparkled with determination as he cupped my face in his hands. "Since the Moon Goddess has given me this chance, I'm not going to let it slip away. I'm confident I can make you forget Lucas ever existed."
His voice grew softer, more vulnerable. "I just need you to give me that chance, Sophia."
The sincerity and unconditional love in his words overwhelmed me.
I remembered all the times Chloe and Ryder had tried to tell me about Michael's feelings, how he had changed his entire lifestyle after meeting me. But I had been so blinded by my feelings for Lucas that I had ignored it all.
"Michael, I..." I started, wanting to say something, but the words wouldn't come.
How could I make up for all the pain I had caused him? How can I reciprocate his love?
Without thinking, I closed my eyes and leaned forward, pressing my lips against his in a gentle but determined kiss.
Michael froze for a moment, clearly shocked by my initiative. But then his arms came around me, and he kissed me back with a passion that took my breath away.
The world seemed to disappear around us.
There was nothing but the warmth of Michael's lips against mine, the strength of his arms holding me close, and the overwhelming rightness of being here with him.
This kiss was different from anything I had ever experienced.
It wasn't just the physical connection - it was as if every cell in my body recognized Michael as its other half. A warm, electric current seemed to flow between us, filling the empty spaces in my soul that I hadn't even realized existed.
We fit together perfectly, like two pieces of a puzzle finally finding their match.
"This is what it feels like to kiss your fated mate," Amy whispered in my mind, her voice filled with contentment.
Just as I was losing myself completely in the moment, my phone rang loudly from the bedside table.
The screen lit up, showing Lucas's name.
Instinctively, I started to pull away to answer it, but Michael's hand captured mine, stopping me.
For just a moment, I saw a flash of emotion in his eyes—possessiveness and jealousy.
Then he kissed me again, more intensely than before, as if claiming me completely. I melted into his embrace, my hands tangling in his hair as he pulled me closer. The world around us seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of us in this perfect moment.
Michael's lips trailed down to my neck, and I could feel his breath hot against my skin. Just as he was about to kiss me again, a sharp knock echoed through the room.
We both froze, Michael's arms tightened around me protectively.
But then a familiar voice called out from the other side of the door, and my face flushed with embarrassment.
"Sophia? Are you in there?"
We sprang apart instantly, both of us flustered and breathing heavily. Michael quickly smoothed down his hair while I hastily adjusted my clothes, my cheeks burning with embarrassment.
"Come in," I called out, trying to steady my voice and appear composed.
