Chapter 74
“Move. The fucking dresser. Now.” I growled, why would he put the dresser there?!
I heard him hop up and he started running, but halfway to the door he stopped and it felt like he was fighting himself.
“Kaden!” I snapped as I pushed on the door, trying to get the dresser to move.
“What?” He whispered brokenly.
“I will slice you. Move. The dresser. NOW!” I was growing impatient.
I heard him jump and walk towards the door. He pushed the dresser away and I threw the door open. He was all the way across the room.
How the hell did he get there that fast?
“What do you want?” He asked quietly as he looked down.
“Get dressed.” I commanded in a strict voice.
“Why?” He frowned in confusion.
“Do I have to have a reason? No, I don’t.” I glared because he wasn’t listening.
I’m here, trying to make things right and he wants to play 20 questions.
He shook his head and looked up worriedly, “No.”
“Good. Shower, brush your teeth. Do that first cause your breath stinks. Get dressed and I’ll be back in 30 minutes.” I then walked out, shutting the door behind me.
I skipped back to Ben’s room. dren and Ali were in a full on make out session.
“Gross!” I screamed, just to scare them.
Ali hopped off Ben’s lap in fear but soon enough, her fear turned into blushing.
“Awwwww!” I cooed as she turned redder than usual.
Ben smirked, “What happened?”
“I need clothes.” I nodded, rifling through Ali’s suitcase.
“A dress?!” Ali squealed excitedly.
“No.” I shot her a dirty look
“You’re wearing a dress.” She growled threateningly.
I raised my hands in the air, “Calm down, Ricky Bobby.”
She grinned and hopped up, going into Ben’s closet. After scattering through everything, she stuck her head out of the closet with a huge grin on her face.
“Perfect!”
“Where’s the rest of it?” I frowned.
The dress had no straps and was pretty short. I wonder why anyone would wear that. Why would Aliyah even own such a dress?
“This is the whole dress.” Ali laughed.
My face immediately fell, “I am not wearing that.”
Ali’s face also fell, “Yes. You. Are.”
I looked at dren for help, “Your mate is possessed.” The stupid dren just laughed and laid down, closing his eyes.
Ali and I began arguing because I refused to wear the dress. I would never wear such a dress, ever.
I did wear the dress.
I gave in.
I was so tempted to smack Ali! I could feel my hand itching just to make contact with her face. What the hell is with this whole preparation? She didn't even know where I was going for God's sake.
She was doing my hair and stabbing my skull with the comb. She has already done my makeup and I'm just going to say it now, she is evil.
“Are you done now?” I asked for the umpteenth time.
“Cora.” She said in a threatening voice, “Don’t ask again.”
I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. Want to know what I’m wearing right now? Underwear! Yes, you heard right. She made me sit in my bra and panties with dren in the room.
I told him that if he left, I’d kill Ali. I was lying. He was sitting in the corner, facing the wall, playing patty cake with himself. It was pretty funny.
“Done!” Ali chirped happily.
“Thank you, my Lord!” I yelled happily, standing up quickly before she would change her mind.
Ali rolled her eyes and grabbed the dress, helping me slip it on so I wouldn't ruin her "perfect" job she had done on my face.
“Now, you can look in the mirror!” She grinned as she ripped the sheet off the mirror.
She had previously put the sheet on the mirror because I kept looking to see the progress after every single dab she made on my face. I was about to turn to the mirror but she held my arm.
"No! Not yet!" She abruptly warned. I glared at her as she brought out heels from the wardrobe.
First of all, how the hell does she have so many things here already? She literally started living here like one week ago and she already had a whole ass wardrobe full of clothes and shoes.
And how the hell were they my perfect fit?
I glared at her and the heels she forced me to wear on before walking out dismissively. She grabbed me by my bicep and pulled me back into the room.
“Look.” She hissed.
I sighed hopelessly and looked into the mirror.
“Cool.” I tried to be nonchalant but I couldn't hide the fact that I looked amazing.
I'd never looked that great in my entire life and it's all because of her and her fake love.
“You look gorgeous.” Ali bit her lip, “Do you like it?”
I nodded and hugged her, “It's beautiful. I look beautiful. Thank you, Aliyah.”
“You can get out of the corner, Benny.” Ali laughed.
“Hallelujah!” dren yelled as he hopped up. He had been waiting for a long ass time.
He turned around and his eyes popped out of his head, “Where’s the rest of that dress?!”
“I know!” I agreed with wide eyes, “Well, I gotta go.” I waved and walked out the door, to Kaden’s room.
He was sitting on the bed, chanting something. He was wearing a white button down shirt with the first two buttons undone, dark jeans, and white sneakers. A girl's weakness.
He might've looked like shit when I came in earlier but the cleanup was amazing. He looked great and oddly, I was proud of nature for giving me such a hot mate.
“Ready?” I asked.
His head snapped up and his eyes turned dark as he looked over me, his eyes staying on my exposed legs a little longer than necessary.
“Um," He cleared his throat before standing up. "Yeah." .
His legs shook slightly as he walked towards me. I grabbed his hand as he stood in front of me. He growled and I looked up at him, shocked by his reaction. Did he not want me to hold his hand?
I let go and looked down, hurt. “Sorry.”
I walked out of his room and down the stairs with him following behind me. I could hear every breath he took. It sounded like he was struggling to walk.
On hearing our footsteps; mostly Kaden's, everyone in the living room turned to us.
“Bye guys, we're going out.” I walked out before they could say anything, grabbing Kaden’s car keys on the way.
Nobody talks to Kaden anymore. Not even Jasmine. It made me feel bad because it’s my fault. If I hadn't ran off childishly and almost gotten killed, everything would've been fine.
I opened Kaden’s door for him with a grin. He tried to smile back but it came out as a grimace. He got in and I shut the door before walking over to the driver's side.
I got in and started the car. “You look great.”
He nodded, “Thanks. You too.”
I rolled my eyes and backed out of the driveway. Reaching over, I grabbed his hand, entwining our fingers.
“I’m sorry.” I said quietly as I glanced over at him.
“Nothing to be sorry for.” He choked out sadly, “I’m sorry, though.”
“No. I’m sorry for reacting the way I did. It was really childish of me to avoid you this week and I apologize for that.” I said sincerely.
“What are we doing?” He asked bluntly.
“Going on our first date.” I grinned.
“Why?” He frowned.
Hurt washed through me again, “Do you not want to go on a date with me?”
He didn’t reply. I pulled my hand out of his, “I’ll take you home then.”
“No. I want to.” He whispered
I nodded briskly and kept driving to the restaurant I wanted to take him to.
“Do you like Italian?” I asked, trying to spark up a conversation.
We didn't have our old spark anymore because we didn't talk for a while fucking week? Is that how relationships work? So weird.
I saw him through my side eyes, he nodded and looked out the window. I gulped and looked forward, really hurt by his reactions.
Did he not love me anymore? My bottom lip quivered at the thought and I fought back the tears that threatened to drop. I probably shouldn't have brought up the date.
The ride to the restaurant was completely silent. I didn’t know what to say or do because he wouldn’t talk to me. I parked at an empty spot and turned to him,
“Let’s go.”
He nodded and got out of the car. I sat there for a second to gather my thoughts before getting out. He jammed his hand into his pants pockets and walked towards the restaurant.
The tears pricked my eyes and I bit my lip, not letting them fall; I was stronger than this. I walked after him slowly. He opened the door and walked in, letting the door shut behind him.
I took a deep breath and opened the door. Kaden was standing by the cashiers desk. I walked up beside him.
“Table for two, please.” I smiled at the lady.
Kaden looked away and stepped away from me. I looked at him and frowned.
“Follow me.” The lady smiled at Kaden.
He gave her a small smile in return and my heart stopped briefly before pounding really hard. What’s wrong with him?
I might have avoided him for a week, yes, but I didn't expect this reaction from him; especially after he abandoned me completely for a different girl.
The lady led us to a table and set our menus down. Kaden and I sat down at the same time.
“Can I get you guys anything to drink?” She asked, staring solely at Kaden.
He smirked up at her, “Yeah, coke, please.”
She wrote it down and turned to me without the smile she gave to Kaden, “What can I get you?”
“Sprite, please.” I said looking at the frilly tablecloth.
“I’ll be right back with those.” She smiled tightly and walked away.
There was an awkward silence until Kaden broke it. “Why am I here?” He asked coldly.
