Chapter 70

“Who are you talking about? Oh, Cora? Do you actually remember her? I thought you would have forgotten all about her now that you found your ’real’ mate.” Stephen hissed, looking at me in disgust as he stormed out the door angrily.

I looked around at everyone and they were all staring at me with intense disgust and anger written on their faces. What exactly did I do wrong?

Benjamin bared and gritted his teeth,

“You threw away Cora for that?! You don’t even know her! Cora is out there crying and in pain because of you! You’re not good enough for her, you never were! You don’t deserve a mate as amazing as Cora.

Cora ran out of the room and you didn't even fucking notice because of some new female who is allegedly your real mate. You stupid bitch. I feel so sorry for Cora right now because she's out there crying about somebody as useless as you.

You want to know the sad thing about all of this bullshit? Cora probably still loves you. So go to your stupid mate right there and complete the bond. See if she‘s really your mate!” He growled before running up the stairs.

Even my Mom and Dad were looking at me with disgusted faces. My Mom had angry and raging tears in her eyes threatening to drop as she stared at me while my Dad glared at me angrily.

“What did I do?” I frowned confusedly.

Monroe’s eyes widened in shock before going narrow,

“What did you do? What the fuck do you mean?! How do you not know what you did?! You broke the heart of the only woman besides your Mom that actually loves you! Cora was the only decent girl that genuinely had feelings for you.

You’re not easy to love Kaden! You're difficult and selfish. You have no idea how much Cora has had to overlook and sacrifice to be with you? Cora has been nothing but understanding just to love you, you jerk. You make me sick.”

He spat on the floor, looking at me with disgust and hatred written all over his face.

The look on my best friend's face had me doing a double take. He looked like he was ready to pounce on me and kill me if he was given the chance. Everyone looked at me that way.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered.

“Sorry doesn’t fucking cut it! It doesn’t make Cora feel better. It doesn’t change what you did. You’re a cold hearted bastard.” Denver sneered.

Gabe never cusses. I stared at him in shock as he stalked off down the hall.

All the girls were glaring at me. Kyle and Rick looked like they wanted to rip my head off but those looks were nothing compared to the disappointment on my Mom's face.

“You have no idea how disappointed I am in you.” She shook her head angrily as she wiped off the tear before it could drop.

My Dad hugged her, staring at me.

“You know your mate is the Uniter. Cora’s the Uniter. So, for you to even think that girl is your mate, she must have some powerful nymphs or witches on her side.”

That hadn’t even crossed my mind. I looked back at Jackie who was smirking slightly.

“You’re not my mate.” I gasped stupidly.

She shook her head, “I’m the distraction.”

I was about to ask what she was supposed to distract me from when Benjamin came stumbling down the stairs, skipping so many that he almost tripped.

“B-Cora!” He cried with tears streaming down his face as he stumbled to the door.

I felt a shot of pain in my stomach, causing me to double over in pain. I saw Benjamin do the same.

“What’s happening to them?” Aliyah asked with wide eyes.

“Cora’s in trouble.” Ambrose growled aggressively, running out the door.

Everyone took off but me and Benjamin. He glared at me.

“This is all your fault!” He yelled at me as we both fell to our knees.

“I didn’t know!” I yelled back.

“You shouldn't have believed that girl was your mate! You already have the perfect one!” He panted in pain.

“I know! I’m sorry!” I cried.

“Shut the fuck up! Cora is the only one that should be crying!” He yelled angrily.

“I-” He cut me off.

“Don’t say you’re sorry! Don’t fucking talk to me. Ever again. I don’t care if Cora does forgive you. I won’t!” He spat angrily, looking away from me.

Pain went through my stomach like someone had kicked me. My pack member literally just disowned me. That was one of the worst pains an Alpha could ever feel.

“Ahhh!” We both screamed in pain as we fell flat on the ground.

I understand if Cora’s hurt, I’d feel the pain. But why is Benjamin also feeling the pain?

More questions that will most likely be left unanswered.

Cora's POV

I doubled over in pain as the wolf guy punched me in the stomach. He punched me on the right side of my face, making me lose my balance, and I fell to the floor. Then, he started kicking me.

I took it all without making a sound. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of hearing me beg or cry and I was too exhausted to fight back.

I was emotionally exhausted and it was fucking with me because there was no use fighting back the wolf guy when there was nothing for me to fight for.

He repeatedly kicked me in my stomach. I heard the crack sounds before I felt my ribs breaking. I still didn’t scream. Beating me wasn’t going to kill me. My body was already healing.

He dragged me up by my hair, smiling viciously. I stared back coldly.

“Not even going to ask for me to stop?” He smirked tauntingly.

The only reaction I gave was a blink. His face grew red with rage at my silence and he reached into his pocket, pulling out a pocket knife. He flipped it open and examined it slowly like they always do in the movies.

“Lovely knife, huh? Used it to kill many people. But, killing the Uniter. That’s the best task in the world and I’m about to complete it.”

I kept my gaze on his face, stubbornly. He ran his stupid cold knife across my neck lightly, making a tiny cut and drawing only a trickle of blood which healed back up immediately but he was too blind to see it.

“Why are you not fighting back? Too cried out and tired?” He teased with a dumb smirk on his face.

I kept my face emotionless, not letting anything show. My ability to keep a poker face any and every time I want to amazes me. He probably thought he had me right where he wanted me but he had no idea how consistent and persistent I could get.

He chuckled humorlessly, “It’s not as fun when you don’t fight back.”

I lifted my chin defiantly. He shook his head and ran the knife down my arm, with a little more pressure.

He pulled the knife back and looked into my eyes as he plunged it into my stomach. My eyes gave nothing away. But I gasped quietly at the pain. He didn’t hear it though.

He started twisting the knife around my stomach, smiling like he just won a lottery or something.

I felt my own blood dripping down my stomach, making my shirt stick to me uncomfortably. I could hear the pitiful sound of my own blood dropping on the park floor.

Then I saw something out of the corner of my eyes. Something familiar. No, someone familiar.

Jacob.

I quickly looked back at the guy. He was glaring at my lack of reaction. What he didn’t know was that it really hurt a lot.

I stared at him blankly and pursed my lips. My jaw clenched slightly as he pulled the knife out slowly, twisting it along the way. He pulled it out completely and quickly plunged it into another spot on my stomach. This time, I didn’t even gasp. It didn’t hurt at all.

Behind the guy were his three other wolves and behind them was Monroe, Gabe, and Kaden. They quickly grabbed the guys around their mouths to keep them quiet before snapping their neck and setting them on the ground.

I looked back at the guy. He pulled the knife out slowly again. As soon as he did, I kicked his leg, making him buckle reactively. When he knelt down, my knee came in contact with his face.

He let go of my hair and I stepped away from him. Someone grabbed me from behind and I looked up to see Jacob’s hard face. I relaxed against his hold and looked forward just in time to see Kaden kill the guy.

“Are you okay?” Kaden asked, walking towards me.

“Yup.” I answer quietly.

I looked over and saw all the girls ganging up on Kaden’s mate.

“She is not his mate.” Denver said coldly as he glared at her, “She has people on her side. Strong people for them to be able to mess with my power.” He finished, looking back at me.

I nodded and shrugged. Stephen turned me around and hugged me.

“It’ll be alright. We set him in his place.” He chuckled quietly.

I smiled slightly and hugged him back weakly. We parted and I looked around.

“Where’s Ben?” I frowned as I didn’t see him.

Everyone looked around, “I thought him and Kaden were with us?” Kaden frowned as well.

I winced when he said the name I definitely didn't want to hear anytime soon. Stephen wrapped his arm around my shoulder and squeezed slightly.

I lifted up my shirt to check out my stab holes. They were already healing; faster than I expected.

“He stabbed you?” Monroe growled, staring at the holes.

I shrugged, “Didn’t really hurt.”
