Chapter 304 Final Preparations

Chapter 304 Final Preparations
POV: Luna

Three days. That's all we had.
The first day was chaos. Messages went out to every ally we'd made. Every pack. Every territory. Every magical community that had agreed to help.
The response was overwhelming.
They came. From everywhere. Wolves I'd never met. Witches and mages. Independent packs. Even some Council members who'd been skeptical before showed up ready to fight.
The training grounds became a war camp. Hundreds of people preparing for battle. Everyone understood what was at stake now.
"This is incredible," Nova said, looking at the assembled forces. "We actually did it. We built an army."
Through pack bonds, I felt everyone's pride. We'd done this together. Built something bigger than just Silverwood.
But building an army was the easy part. Keeping everyone organized was harder.
Liam took charge of combat coordination. His Alpha authority commanded respect from other pack leaders. He organized defensive positions and attack formations.
Caleb worked with the magical users. Miguel's knowledge helped them understand what they'd face. Otherworld energy. Dimensional attacks. Things that normal combat training hadn't prepared them for.
Hunter coordinated supply lines. Making sure everyone had weapons, medical supplies, food. All the boring but necessary stuff that kept an army functioning.
Darius worked with scouts. Monitoring the portal. Tracking Cole's movements. Trying to predict exactly when and where the final battle would happen.
I spent time with everyone. Checking in. Making sure people felt prepared. Trying to give them confidence when I barely felt confident myself.
The princess and Selene focused on ward reinforcement. They'd developed a technique during training. Using their bond energy to strengthen Silverwood's barriers. It wouldn't stop Cole, but it would slow him down.
That night, I couldn't sleep. Too much on my mind. Too much responsibility. Too many people depending on me to make the right choices.
I found myself at the edge of camp. Looking out at the darkness where the portal waited.
"Can't sleep either?" Liam's voice came from behind me.
I turned. He looked exhausted. Three days of non-stop organizing had worn him down.
"Too much to think about," I admitted.
He came and stood beside me. Close but not touching. We'd been so busy preparing that we hadn't had time to just be together.
"I need to tell you something," Liam said quietly. "Before the battle. In case things go wrong."
"Don't," I started, but he held up a hand.
"Let me say this. Please." He took a breath. "I was so jealous when Caleb came back. When the goddess returned Miguel. I felt like I wasn't enough. Like you needed someone better than me."
Through the mate bond, I felt his vulnerability. This was hard for him to admit.
"But training together these past weeks," Liam continued. "Fighting beside Caleb and Hunter and Darius. I finally get it. The four bonds aren't about me being insufficient. They're about you needing different kinds of support for different things. I'm your foundation. And that's enough. That's everything."
Tears burned my eyes. "Liam..."
"I love you," he said simply. "However this ends. Whatever happens tomorrow. I need you to know that being your mate, being your foundation, has been the greatest honor of my life."
I kissed him then. Poured everything I felt through the mate bond. Love. Gratitude. Fear. Hope. All of it.
When we pulled apart, Caleb was approaching. Then Hunter. Then Darius. All four of my mates drawn to this spot like they'd felt what was happening through our bonds.
"We all needed this," Caleb said. Miguel's wisdom understanding. "One moment together. All of us. Before everything changes."
We stood together in silence. Five people. Four bonds. One purpose.
"Thank you," I said to all of them. "For choosing this. For choosing me. For proving that love is stronger than prophecy. That free will matters. That we can change fate."
"We choose this every day," Hunter said quietly. "Even when it's hard. Especially when it's hard."
"That's what makes it real," Darius added. "Not the bonds. The choosing."
Through all four mate bonds, I felt their absolute commitment. Their love. Their determination to face whatever came next together.
The sun started rising. Day two beginning.
The princess found us at dawn. "Council representatives want to meet. They need to understand the battle plan."
Reality crashed back in. No more quiet moments. No more peace.
Just preparation. Strategy. Making sure everyone knew their role.
The day passed in a blur. Meetings with commanders. Reviews of defensive positions. Magical briefings. Medical preparations. Everything that went into preparing for war.
By nightfall, we were as ready as we'd ever be.
Day three arrived too quickly.
"He'll come at sunset," Caleb predicted. Miguel's memories of Cole's patterns. "He's dramatic. He'll want the symbolism."
"Then we have until sunset to make final preparations," the princess said.
The camp was tense. Everyone felt it. The waiting was almost worse than the fighting would be.
I spent the morning checking on people. Offering encouragement. Trying to project confidence I didn't fully feel.
Lyric pulled me aside. "Whatever happens, we're proud of you. All of us. You built this. You gave us hope."
Through pack bonds, I felt everyone's agreement. They believed in me. Trusted me. That was terrifying and empowering at the same time.
Afternoon came. The sun started its descent.
"Everyone to positions," Liam commanded. His Alpha voice carried across the camp.
People moved efficiently. All the training paying off. Defensive formations taking shape. Magical users ready. Medical stations prepared.
My four mates positioned around me. Liam at my right. Caleb at my left. Hunter behind. Darius in front. Protecting me from all sides.
The princess and Selene anchored the ward reinforcement. Their combined power glowing silver and green.
My pack spread through the camp. Nova coordinating. Aria supporting morale. Sienna ready with magical backup. Lyric prepared to heal. Marcus analyzing and adapting.
Everyone in position. Everyone ready. Everyone waiting.
The sun touched the horizon.
The portal exploded open.
Cole's hybrid form stepped through. But he wasn't alone.
An army of corrupted creatures poured out behind him. Thousands of them. More than we'd prepared for. More than seemed possible.
"Last chance, Luna," Cole called out. His voice amplified by magic. "Surrender now. Become the willing catalyst. Or watch everyone you love die in the next hour."
Through all my bonds, I felt everyone's determination. No one was surrendering. No one was backing down.
"We make our own choices," I shouted back. "And we choose to fight."
Cole smiled. It wasn't a nice smile. "So be it."
He raised his hand. The corrupted army surged forward.
The battle for reality itself had begun.
