As Nathan keenly observed me, I could sense his awareness of my attempt to change the topic. Feeling a bit flustered, I muttered, "Oh, popcorn," and gestured towards the nearby popcorn vendor. I walked towards the popcorn area, my eyes fixed on the golden kernels, while Nathan followed closely behind.
Reaching the popcorn vendor, I turned to Nathan with pleading eyes and asked, "Nathan, could you please buy some popcorn for me?" I shook his hand continuously, hoping he would agree.
Nathan flashed a warm smile and reassured me, "Of course! Popcorn is a must when you're watching a movie." He approached the vendor, ordered two servings of popcorn, and paid for them. Handing me one of the containers, he said, "Here you go." I eagerly took a piece of popcorn, savoring its sweet flavor as I closed my eyes momentarily.
Curious about my enthusiasm, Nathan asked, "Do you really like popcorn that much?" I opened my eyes and playfully glared at him. "I've only had it once when I saw Medusa eating it, and ever since then, I've been craving it," I explained.
Nathan's eyebrows furrowed with surprise. "Are you saying you've only eaten popcorn once in your entire life?" he asked, clearly taken aback.
I clarified, "No, just once this year." With our popcorn in hand, we entered the cinema together. As we made our way inside, a ticket attendant noticed us and complimented Nathan, saying, "Your girlfriend is beautiful."
Nathan chuckled and replied with a playful smile, "Thank you." I quickly interjected, "I'm not his girlfriend!" Nathan playfully placed his hand over my mouth, and we proceeded into the cinema.
I playfully bit his hand and removed it, prompting him to exclaim, "Ouch!" He looked at me quizzically and asked, "Why did you bite me?" I met his gaze and explained, "Because you deserve it for lying about me being your girlfriend." He grinned broadly in response.
As we entered the cinema hall, we noticed a large crowd heading towards a different screening. I became curious about their movie choice and asked Nathan, "What are all those people going to watch?"
He smirked and replied, "They're going to watch 'Fast and Furious'." I then suggested, "Can we change our tickets?" But he declined, stating, "Just because a lot of people are watching that film doesn't mean horror is a bad choice." With that, we walked into the cinema hall, finding seats in a relatively crowded row.
I settled into my seat, clutching my popcorn close to my chest. Nathan, clearly feeling apprehensive, held my hand tightly and nervously bit his fingers, occasionally jerking his leg. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his behavior and remarked, "Look who's acting like a baby."
As we continued watching the movie, Nathan attempted to hug me, but I firmly hit him on the head, drawing the attention of those around us. "Sorry," I muttered, realizing I had caused a disturbance. I shifted Nathan's head from my lap to the seat beside me, hoping he would wake up soon.
Engrossed in the movie, I continued enjoying my popcorn in blissful ecstasy while Nathan slept soundly. After some time, I felt the urge to use the restroom, so I carefully removed Nathan's head from my lap and placed it on the chair. I chuckled to myself, realizing that I had even eaten his popcorn while he slept.
Leaving the cinema hall, I asked someone for directions to the restroom and made my way there. When I got out I saw Nathan slowly regained consciousness, finding himself alone in the dark cinema. I squatted so he wouldn't see me.
Confused, he looked around and noticed the empty popcorn cups. "Oh my goodness! What happened?" he exclaimed, searching for me.
I approached him with a smirk. "Lucinda!" I called out. He turned to me, surprised that I was still there. "You're still here? I thought you went home without me," he said with a hint of worry.
Chuckling, I tapped his back and reassured him, "Baby Nate, you think too much." He was taken aback by my words and asked, "Wait! What did you just call me?" I simply repeated, "Baby Nate, isn't that what you are?" He gave me a stern look, declaring, "Don't call me that."
Realizing his embarrassment, I said, "Let's go home, I'm tired," giving him an exasperated glance. Nathan, feeling remorseful, called a taxi to take us home. He entered the cab, and as I rested my hand on the glass window, looking outside, the car pulled away, leaving the cinema behind.
