Flowers for my flower

Flowers for my flower
Aiden’s POV

It’s been about two weeks since I came back from L.A., and for the first time in a long time, my life doesn’t feel like it’s spinning out of control.

I had given Ken the purse I promised him the very next day I arrived. He tried to act nonchalant about it, but the way his eyes lit up gave him away. Macy had practically screamed when she found out I was back in town for good—well, for now at least and Gerald had been nothing but relieved when I told him everything in L.A. had been cleared without drama, lawsuits, or any last-minute disasters.

And Jamie has been my constant.

We’ve been spending an absurd amount of time together, the kind of time that makes people joke that we’re joined at the hip. Morning coffees, late-night walks, quiet moments that feel louder than any red-carpet applause. It’s easy with him. Almost like breathing.

Today was the last day of the shoot, and I sat alone in my trailer, my script in hand, my legs stretched out as I quietly rehearsed my lines under my breath. The words felt heavier now that I knew they were the last ones I’d deliver as Leo. It’s funny how a character can burrow under your skin like that.

Just then, the trailer door flew open and Macy bounced in like a burst of sunshine, barely containing herself. I lifted my gaze from the script just in time to see her thrust a bouquet of flowers toward me.

“Your mystery man strikes again,” she announced dramatically, dropping the flowers onto the desk with a grin that stretched from ear to ear.

I chuckled, shaking my head. “You’re enjoying this far too much, ain’t you?”

“Oh, absolutely,” she said, folding her arms. “This is the highlight of my day.”

I picked up the bouquet, already familiar with the scent, and spotted the small folded note tucked between the stems. I opened it carefully and it read. “I thought of how beautiful these flowers are while blooming, and it reminded me of you. I always want to see you shining. A flower for my flower. With love, P.”

My lips curved into a smile before I could stop myself.
Of course it was Jamie.

Ever since I got back, he’d been sending flowers every single day I was on set. Sometimes roses, sometimes wildflowers, sometimes something completely unexpected. Each one came with a note that felt like it was written just for me—which, I guess, it kind of was.

I inhaled deeply, letting the scent settle in my chest before Macy cleared her throat loudly. “Well? Are you going to tell me who he is now, or should I start guessing again?”

“You can go Macy. You’re not getting anything out of me today either,” I said lightly.

She groaned. “Come on, Aiden. How long do you intend to keep this mystery man away from us? At least let us meet him if you don’t want to tell us anything about him. Ken and I are losing our minds over here.”

I laughed and waved her toward the door. “You’ll see him soon enough. I promise. Now please, go. I need to get back to rehearsing.”

She hesitated, pouting, then finally sighed. “Fine. But this mystery man better be worth it.”

“He definitely is,” I said without hesitation, as she studied my face, then smiled softly before leaving.

I glanced back at the flowers one more time before returning to my script, my focus sharper than it had been all morning.

About an hour later, Macy came back to get me. “It’s time,” she said, bouncing slightly. “They’re ready for you.”

I stood up, adjusted my clothes, smoothed out imaginary wrinkles, and followed her out. Gerald was waiting near the set. He clapped a hand on my shoulder, smiling warmly. “Are you ready, Aiden? You’ve been incredible so far, let’s finish strong today.”

I nodded and smiled, the set went quiet as I took my place.

“And… action!”

The world narrowed.

“You promised me, Alan,” I said, my voice breaking in just the right places. “You promised to be with me, to stand by me, to fight with me. But all you’ve ever done is make me feel less of myself, every single time.”

Tears burned my eyes, real ones, not forced or fake.

“Now I’m done,” I continued. “I’m done choosing pain, so just leave me alone. You never truly deserved me. The money, fame, career, fans—none of that matters. All that matters is my happiness, and I’m going to do what is right for me. I hope you also find your happiness.”

I turned away, my breath shaking, but Alan grabbed my hand, pulling me into his arms.

“I’m sorry, Leo,” he said, holding me tightly. “I’m so sorry for not being there for you, for not fighting for you, for not being brave enough to make you happy. But it’s all in the past. Now we have to focus on the future, I don’t see a future without you in it. I’m ready Leo, I’m ready to do everything, I am ready to be the man you want me to be, I’m ready to be that friend you need me to be. Just please don’t give up on me, don’t give up on us.”

I looked up at him, tears spilling freely down my face again. “Are you sure? Are you sure you’re ready for this? Because I don’t want to waste my time again.”

“I swear Leo,” he said desperately. “I am 100% percent ready. I’m ready for us, I’m ready to sacrifice anything, everything as long as we are happy. You’re my happiness, and you’ve always been. Just give me a chance to show you.” Alan concluded, smiling at me.

I nodded slowly. “Okay then. One more chance. Hopefully you don’t screw up again.”

Relief flooded his face. “ No darling. No now, not ever”

Then he pulled me in for a kiss. It was long, deep, desperate and real.

“And cut!” Gerald shouted.

Applause erupted around us.

“That was incredible,” Gerald said as he approached us. “It was raw, honest and beautiful. Every emotion was channeled into this particular scene. This film is going to hit people hard.”

I nodded, my heart still pounding.

Everyone gathered as Gerald thanked the crew, his voice thick with emotion. “I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been a part of the journey from the beginning up until this moment. Thank you for showing up in the sun, in the rain people, when it was tasking and draining, even when we had to pull all nighters sometimes, you all have been really amazing thank you.”

Everyone cheered and clapped, people exchanged hugs, basically packing up their equipments.

Macy practically bounced toward me excitedly. “You were amazing Aiden. And it’s been an honor working with you side-by-side on this amazing journey. I’m so excited to see how this turns out. I’m even more excited to see how the investors would react when this is finally out, they would lose your minds.”

I laughed, as I headed back to the trailer. “Yeah I’m sure they will be. I equally enjoyed working with you Macy. Thank you for putting up with me this past few months. I know being an assistant isn’t particularly easy, especially an assistant to an actor. It can get very draining and stressful. You really are the best” I concluded, tapping her head lightly.

She blushed shyly. “I am going to miss you though. So what’s your plan now? Will you be sticking around or will you be going back to LA?” She asked curiously.

I chuckled. “I don’t know yet, Macy. I haven’t decided on anything, but let’s just see how it goes. Fingers crossed.”

She smirked. “Yeah I knew you were gonna say that. Anyways, you have to come to the after party tonight. No excuses. The party won’t be complete without the lead actor being there.”

“Macy, I don’t think that would be possible. I am so exhausted. All I want to do right now is to go home and sleep. You know this past couple of days have been so stressful. I don’t think I have any energy left in me to party.” I protested.

She shook her head stubbornly. “No no. Not today Aiden. No excuses,” she said firmly. “I’ve gotten your clothes ready ahead of time, so you don’t have to worry about that. As a matter of fact, you can bring your mystery man along. Let’s just say, this is an opportunity for you to finally introduce us to him.” Then she typed on her phone, and just then I got a message. “I just texted you the address, your clothes are already in your room. I’ll see you at 7 PM. Don’t be late.” She smiled, as she hurriedly headed out.

Before I could argue, she was gone. I collapsed onto the couch, my head falling back, my muscles aching. I closed my eyes, just for a second, before a knock interrupted me.

“Delivery for Aiden.”

I frowned. “Come in.” I wasn’t expecting any delivery from anyone.

The door opened, and someone stepped inside holding flowers and a box of chocolates, which made their face hidden. I caught the scent before I saw him and my eyes flew open.

“Jamie?” I breathed.

He lowered the flowers, smiling.

I was on my feet in seconds, launching myself into his arms. He caught me easily, holding me close as I buried my face in his neck.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, pulling back just enough to see his face. “You didn’t tell me you’ll be stopping by.”

“You really thought I’d miss your last day on set?” he teased, handing me the flowers. “Of course not. Meanwhile I wanted to surprise you.”

“Also, I know you would be tired and exhausted so I came bearing gifts” He handed me the chocolates and my eyes lit up.

“My gosh babe. You’re a mind reader. Thank you so much.” I said, unwrapping one chocolate and tossing it into my mouth.

I hugged him again, more tighter than before. We sat together on the couch, my head resting on his shoulder as I kept eating the chocolates.

After a moment, he spoke quietly.

“About what you suggested earlier, I have decided to go see my family tomorrow.”

I froze, then looked up at him. “Are you serious babe?”
He nodded.

“That’s amazing,” I said softly, pride swelling in my chest. “I know it won’t be easy but trust me, it’s the right thing to do.”
