Chapter 131

More revelations.

Scarlett's POV.

Tala and Derek had been exchanging letters this whole time, most likely about me and how I was doing. The thought left a sour taste in mouth and I frowned. Just how long had this been happening? Had he come to see me before and I wasn't aware of it? There thought made me uneasy and goosebumps rose on my exposed skin.

The thought struck me again and I clenched my fist, it took a lot of effort to not pound Tala's room door in as I watched her. My anger dissipated when she whistled again and a small bird, a sparrow, perched on the window sill and whistled it's own tune in response. I watched in awe as she tied and secured the letter to the bird's foot carefully before petting it and sending it on it's way. I didn't know what to expect from Tala but sending birds on errands was far from what I thought she would do.

My thoughts were still jambled and I didn't think it was wise to confront her now when I couldn't think clearly. I glanced at my bedroom door, the bed behind the doors inviting me to come to sleep. I took a step away but stopped mid step when Tala's voice rang out.

"Are you going to keep standing there, or do you want to come in?" She asked coolly. She didn't sound annoyed that I had been spying on her, in fact, she sounded like I had been in the room with her and now she wanted to show me something. I glanced at my bedroom door again, swallowing what was left of my fear since my decision had been made for me. There was no going back now.

I pushed the door open, the creaking hinges playing with my heart strings as I stepped further into the room. Now that I was in her room proper, I could see every corner of the place and the decor suited her. I admired it for a short time before I turned to look at her,my face going blank because though my mind was saying she couldn't possibly hurt me, bringing up memories of the Tala that had spoon fed me for days and helped me exercise my weak muscles, my body was ready to run if need be.

"Tala," I breathed out to see if I could get a response from her, but nothing. Her expression was just as flat as the voice she had called me in with. She looked at me for a long moment and I was took over. It reminded me of the time I had woken up and she has started questioning me about my injuries. Then I had felt pinned to the spot by her stare, and now was no different.

She let out a long sigh, gazing out the window longingly before turning back to me. She gestured towards her bed that was covered in green sheets, much like a lot of things spread out in the room. Anyone with eyes could see that she has a soft spot for green.

"Have a seat honey, I'm not going to eat you or anything," she said, reassuring me before gesturing to the bed once again. "I'm not a werewolf after all," she added the next moment, her eyes gleaming as she remained fixed on me, gauging my reaction. I wasn't surpirin the slightest and she noticed it too, her shoulders sagging. I obeyed her words and say on the neatly tucked sheets, she followed suit, stepping away from the window and coming to sit beside me.

She didn't speak immediately, and I used this time to study her, wondering how or what I had been trying to deceive myself that she was a werewolf. Nothing about her was even werewolf like. Not in looks, the way she behaved, even the fact that she stayed alone, without a pack in the middle of nowhere was a dead giveaway, yet I had tried to come up with an explanation for everything.

"How much did you see?" She started, breaking me away from my thoughts and I shrugged.

"Basically everything. Something told me that the place was off so I decided to come see what you were doing... And you were doing that," I replied. As to why I was offering all this extra information, I didn't know.

"You say you felt something was off?"

"Yes?... I can't explain it."

Tala frowned, her face losing that stock expression she had kept since we started talking.

"That's odd." She didn't tell me why.

"Are you mad at me?" She asked instead and my fists clenched of their own accord.

"I won't lie to you because you've been nothing but good to me, so yes, I'm furious. You both were aware of what's going on besides me." Tala sighed this time, her look shattering completely.

"It wasn't my intention honey, Derek wanted to know what was happening with you without coming to visit so this was the plan he put together."

"So, he hasn't come to visit me at all?"

"Oh no, he's... Busy with the pack these days." I didn't know how to feel about that. That feeling from before returned again but I didn't need it to know that Tala wasn't being a hundred percent truthful with me.

"It that the whole reason?" I pressed and Tala smiled.

"As I thought, you can be very perceptive. It's not my place to say anything since it's none of my business. You'll have to ask Derek himself when you see him." My eyes widened and she raised a brow.

"What, did you think you were going to stay here forever? You have to face him and your past some time you know." And I hated to admit it but she was right. She still hadn't pushed more on my wounds but I knew she was curious. Derek hadn't told her what happened so the only way she would learn the truth was if I told her.

Tala was very perceptive too as she put it so I knew she must have sensed some hidden friction between me and Derek.

"When will I go back there?"
