Unity was approaching the bed when, suddenly, a light appeared from the bedside lamp that startled her.
She screamed and fell onto the bed.
"The woman from last night, was it you?"
Unity closed her eyes in fear, but the low, raspy voice above her head thrilled her.
‘What a beautiful voice,’ Unity thought.
Gradually, Unity opened her eyes.
And there he was, the man's extremely handsome face came into her view. It was hard for her to believe who she had seen.
“Gabriel Garcia?!”
She was in disbelief when she realized the man was Gabriel.
Gabriel was the heir of the Capital Construction of the Nebula Consumer Goods. He was also a Harvard graduate. In the last three years, Gabriel has managed the overseas branches, trying to expand his family business’s international reach. She wondered when he returned.
Gabriel, looking down at Unity beneath him, frowned. He swung out of bed, instantly picking up his clothes from the ground. He asked with an unsettling tone. “How do you know me?”
His voice now lacked any trace of the warmth it had moments before.
Unity, looking at this tall and strong man by the bed, who looked perfect in every possible way, tried hard to keep the butterflies inside her stomach. She nodded, blushing, "Chairman Preston Lewis of Lewis Group is my uncle. I accompanied him to Chairman Bill’s sixtieth birthday celebration. My name is Unity."
“Unity,” Gabriel said while buttoning his shirt. He turned around and saw Unity on the white sheets.
“Come and see me in the morning at Nebula Consumer Goods. I’ll compensate you in any way you want within my power.”
With that, Gabriel walked away as if nothing ever happened.
...
"Boss."
Gabriel stepped out of the room and called his assistant.
“Who drugged me?!” he demanded an answer.
“Roger and Carter Mellon. They also arranged for some women to be sent to the top-floor suite and took some videos.” Although it was already 3 in the morning, Gabriel's assistant was awakened by the phone call.
“By the end of the day, I want Roger to go bankrupt.” Gabriel roared.
"Yes, Boss!" The assistant replied.
After Gabriel found out he had been drugged, he decided not to return to the top-floor suite and slept in a standard room instead. Otherwise, Carter Mellon might not have lived for another day.
After Gabriel ended the call, he headed straight for the elevator. However, all of the elevators were out of service.
After realizing the elevators were out of service, Gabriel took the stairs instead.
As he opened the staircase door, he heard a girl weeping, and it sounded like it was coming from downstairs. Despite feeling puzzled, he pressed on towards the sound of weeping.
Teresa was curled up in a corner, trembling uncontrollably, after fleeing from a traumatic event. Even after several hours, she still could not process everything that had happened to her.
A man, whose identity and face remained unknown to her, viciously attacked her multiple times and nearly claimed her life.
As the footsteps drew closer, Teresa lifted her gaze and was immediately taken aback by his deep black eyes. His intense stare was terrifying.
Teresa’s head dropped even lower, and she couldn’t help but tremble…
Having this beautiful woman in front of him, Gabriel didn’t know what to do. Something in his dark, profound eyes changed inexplicably.
Despite the poor lighting in the stairwell, Gabriel could still see the marks on Teresa's skin.
"Do you need help?" Gabriel asked. Surprisingly, the typically stoic man offered to help Teresa.
"No... there's no need!" Teresa's voice quivered. Perhaps because the man's strong figure was alarmingly similar to the man in the room, making her even more terrified. "Leave at once!"
Looking down at Teresa, he put on a mysterious smile. The next second, he just walked away.
