Chapter 155: New Beginning

Lucas tried to convince Grace to listen to both her father and foster father but she refused. Finally, she agreed but insisted they met her at home instead of going to them. Mr. Ethan and Gabriel agreed immediately and got ready to meet Grace.

Grace sat down at the bar, drinking and filling her glass back immediately.

“They're not here yet, I will go upstairs and I won't-

“Easy, Grace, they just arrived”, Lucas informed her; she adjusted and poured more drink into the glass of wine, getting ready for whatever they might say to her.

They arrived and sat down, Lucas was about to excuse himself but they told him to stay.

“I don't want y'all beating around the bush, so just be straightforward. Forward we have a party to prepare for”, Grace uttered.

“Well, I'm here to answer your questions, not to tell you a story, so I suggest you ask whatever question you have”, Gabriel told her; Grace stared sternly at him for a while and sighed.

“Why did you leave?”She asked.

“Well, I had to, your mother was not my woman, and just because she had my baby doesn't mean I should take my friend's lady”

Gabriel replied, Grace chuckled and stared at Me. Ethan.

“And you knew about this?”She asked.

“I forgave him, we were all drunk that night-

“Did you know this man mistreated me, chose his job over me?”She stared at Gabriel.

“He is also here to apologize for that,” Gabriel told her, Grace smiled.

“I forgive you both, i don't want to hold any grudges against anybody just to respect my late mother, but another question yet, how does all these affect my marriage with Lucas-

“affect? Baby if he is the one for you, then go for it”, Gabriel told her.

“Well, Ethan said otherwise”, She uttered.

“Well, I know it's because of Victor, but that shouldn't stop you from being happy,” He told her. Grace smiled and stood up.

“I will see y'all at the party tonight”

She told them and went upstairs. Ethan and Gabriel exchanged glances and smiled.

Before 9pm that night, Lucas's guests started arriving. Lucas stood inside his study, staring at nothing and lost in thought; he imagined what this moment would have been like if he had not found Grace and begged her to come back.

He might still be in a big fight with Micheal, and he knew that in the end, either one of them would die. He was still thinking when Grace knocked and entered, he smiled.

“You have a special guest” She informed him.

“Duke?”He guessed, but Grace shook her head and stepped out of the way; it was Micheal and Mr. Victor. He picked up his phone to walk out of the study but Grace stopped him.

“You convinced me to forgive Mr. Ethan and Gabriel; now it's your turn” " she whispered to him and closed the door. Lucas shrugged his shoulders and slumped on his chair.

“How can I help-

“I need to see my-

“Ahh-what Micheal means to say is that Lucas, we know that you can never forgive us. I mean, we tried to end your career, but yet you came through it and even cleared your brother from the police”, Mr. Victor stated.

“We just want to say we are sorry, right Micheal?”He nudged Micheal. Micheal took a deep breath and stared at Lucas.

“Thank you for not letting me win this, I could have been the worst human being if I did win you eventually”, He uttered.

Lucas couldn't help but chuckle; he stretched out his hand and shook him; Emily entered full of smiles, and Mr Victor hugged her tightly.

“One more thing Lucas, I need to see my son”

Micheal uttered.

“Well, they are among my VIP guests, so you will indeed see him”, Lucas told him; Micheal embraced him tightly.

“I'm down, you know that right?”He asked and Lucas patted him on the back.

The ballroom was soon filled with people, and the party began. Lucas got a dress for Grace just so she could look really special that evening.

Grace kept staring at herself in the mirror, smiling and swaying from side to side; she felt really good in the dress, and Lucas entered.

“Mmm, I knew you would look amazing in that; come downstairs, I need you; it's time for my big speech and your surprise,”, Lucas told her.

“I've got a surprise?”She asked, smiling, Lucas took her hand and held her close to his chest.

“I told you, I'll continue making it up to you for the rest of my life; you've made me realize lots of things” " he told her.

“I like this version of Lucas” She told him, kissed her and helped her zip her dress.

“Shall we?”He asked and she nodded excitedly.

After the big speech, Lucas reached out for Grace; she chuckled as she held his hand, and he led her to the centre of the ballroom. Everyone's eyes were on them, and Lucas knelt now, took out a red box and opened it.

“You asked for another one, so I got you the best”, He told her; tears dropped out of Grace's eyes.

“Is that diamond, real-, oh my God-

“Grace, will you be my wife?”He asked again.

Grace dragged him up and hugged him so tightly that the hallroom became so noisy with screams.

“For your first surprise, I want you to take over Lucas's consultant firm while I continue fully on my four club business” " he whispered; Grace was too surprised to speak.

“But before we resume work, we will have our wedding and have a 6 months vacation-

“6? What about work?”She asked.

“My twin brother and my sister will handle that for now” " he uttered and lifted her; the uproar became even louder, and Lucas brought up close to his chest.

“You should know that in as much as we started wrongly, you are still the best thing that ever happened to me, and I will make sure everybody gets the fact that you are the wife of Mr Lucas Hudson “, he promised her.

Grace couldn't help but kiss him; this was surely the beginning of a never-ending story.
