Chapter 152:Proposal
“My client here has proven and witnessed that the family business does not belong to Mr. Lucas-
“Objection your honour, my client has zero interest in the family business, if they wanted the business back they would have just asked for it after all it was given to him because he was the only business-capable person in the family” Kelsey snapped, judge Winston warned her not to speak unless she was told to and urged Mrs. Silver to proceed.
“Well, if he insists he also is the rightful owner of Lucas's consultant firm, he has to present his documents and reasons for not being signed under the government-approved GFH and what the four clubs are all about”, Mrs Silver stated and sat down.
Kelsey gathered the document and handed it over to the clerk, who already had Mrs. Silver's documents, too; she handed it over to someone else to check. Lucas mounted the dock once more to answer to Mrs. Silver
“Mr Lucas, I will have to ask you to give me reasons why you didn't sign under the GFH. Certainly, because you are into illegal businesses. Is this where the four clubs come in?”Mrs. Silver asked.
“Your honour, won't she give him a chance to answer the questions she asked?”Kelsey intervened, and Mrs. Silver was warned; she apologized and urged Lucas to answer her question, and Lucas took a deep breath.
“The Four Club is like an organization, a savings organization except we do a whole different job from our main company jobs-
“And what might this different job be?”She asked again, Lucas stared at her for some minutes.
“Gaming Arcades and Crypto Trading”
He replied, smirking.
“Then why is it so privately secured, no signal or anything?”She asked.
“Do you need proof or a witness to testify to it? There are so many secret organisations everywhere”, Kelsey chipped.
“I love proof and witnesses, so please”, Judge Winston smirked.
Kelsey called in Duke, and Duke had them bring Charleston; along the line, Ashley's case was brought up, and Charleston was arrested.
Eventually, Lucas was cleared of all other charges. Finally, the clerk stood up and gave Judge Winston the documents
“So Mrs. Silver, how come your client came in here with fake documents?”The judge glared at Mrs Silver.
“What do you mean fake?”She snapped and turned to stare at Micheal who bowed his head, frustrated.
“I checked those documents, sir. They are original”, She replied dryly.
“Then you need to work on your machine; I expected more; you've been in this work for a long, and you know the consequences of working with fake documents”, Judge Winston stated.
He was disappointed that after all the questions and discomfort she gave her opponent, she was with fake documents. He went through the documents by himself and asked Lucas certain questions concerning the documents, he nodded with satisfaction.
“Mrs. Silver does the plaintiff have any other charge against the defendant following the fact that all charges were framed-
“Framed? Your honour, I have the chief agent to testify that this man needs to be properly investigated; who gets successful with firms without contracts and partnerships?” Mrs Silver asked, and the judge banged his gavel.
“Fine, a one-week investigation on Mr Lucas; either way, he's still free from all charges and access to his company”, Judge Winston stated, banged the gavel again and left the court.
Micheal left the court immediately after the judge left without talking to Mrs Silver. Mrs Silver, on the other hand, could not believe that Kelsey could win a case against her, so she walked up to her and stared at her sternly.
“Better luck next time”, She uttered, smirking. She turned to walk away, and Kelsey uttered.
“I will always have this luck as long as I know about your drug habit.”She walked away, and Mrs Silver was shocked.
Micheal arrived home and saw his father patiently waiting to receive good news. For a moment he kept quiet after hearing about their loss
“I guess we've done everything Micheal, just forgetting Lucas” Mr. Victor uttered.
“Besides you can take over the estate now”
He added, Micheal shrugged his shoulders and drove off to a quiet place to think.
Meanwhile, a victory party was going on in Lucas's mansion, while others had fun downstairs, he sat pretty close to Grace, with her head on his chest he rubbed it slowly
“Thank you so much Grace,” He whispered and kissed her forehead.
“I love you, and I promise to prove it to you until death do us part” " he stated, and she looked up and smiled.
“Don't make promises you can't keep, till death do us apart?”She asked
“I swear on my mother's grave,” He told her, Grace was amused and felt these chills running down her spine
“Alright Lucas,” She uttered.
Lucas got up removed his shirt and opened the drawer in the dressing table, he brought out a little black box, turned and stared at her, Grace was shocked, she couldn't believe her eyes, Lucas chuckled and got on his knees,
“I should have done this a long time ago instead of forcing you to love me, so my first proof of love is asking you to be my pillar-
Grace shut her eyes tight and screamed, she rushed to him and hugged him tightly
“Yes, Lucas, put that ring on my finger” " she uttered excitedly. He lifted her gently, placed her on the bed, and kissed her deeply while undressing her.
Grace had no idea Lucas could be this gentle in as much as she accepted the proposal. She still felt like he could go back to his old ways, but she also doubted that fact.
This episode of his life has really taught him a lot about loved ones, but just in case he goes back to his old ways, she was definitely ready for him, but she wished nevertheless that nothing would stop her forever with Lucas, holding his shoulders very tight, she allowed him to explore her.
