Chapter 122 The Road to Self-Rescue for Smart Children
Mason pointed at the two men guarding the warehouse below, then made a throat-slitting gesture across his neck.
Chase blinked his big round eyes and whispered, "Mason, you mean... You're right, if we just run away like this, we'd be letting these bad guys off too easy. But we're too young, we definitely can't win in a direct fight."
Chase's eyes rolled around. He looked up and saw a hornet's nest hanging on the tree trunk, and suddenly had an idea.
Meanwhile, the two henchmen guarding outside the warehouse yawned lazily.
"This is so boring!"
"Hey, stay alert. What if those two kids escape?"
"They can't escape. With us guarding here, even if those two kids grew wings, they couldn't fly out of our hands!"
"Better be careful. I heard those two kids are that woman's sons!"
"The woman our boss has been lusting after for so long but couldn't get?"
"Shh! By the way, doesn't it seem really quiet in there?"
"Those two kids are all tied up, of course it's quiet."
"Something feels off. Let me check..."
One of the more cautious henchmen turned around, about to open the warehouse door to look inside.
"Take this!"
Suddenly a soft voice came from above. The two henchmen instinctively looked up and saw two hornet's nests flying toward them.
"It's hornets!"
"It hurts! It hurts!"
"Help!!!"
The hornet's nest shattered at their feet, and a swarm of hornets attacked them.
The two henchmen ran away from the warehouse, crying and screaming.
"Hahahahaha, that was so fun!"
Chase watched their misery from the tree and laughed happily.
Mason couldn't speak, but his eyes were sparkling and a slight smile appeared at the corners of his tightly pressed lips.
After Chase finished laughing, the two little ones slid down from the tree. While causing mischief everywhere, they made their way toward the main hall.
"The big bad guy should be behind this door."
Chase pressed his ear against the door and listened for a while. There was no sound inside.
He and Mason looked at each other, both seeing determination in the other's eyes.
"Let's go in."
Chase took a deep breath and said firmly.
Mason nodded heavily.
So Chase and Mason both lifted their feet at the same time and kicked open the closed door.
After learning fighting skills from Claire for a while, Mason's leg strength was no less than Chase's.
They easily kicked the door open and rushed into the room.
"Mommy!"
Chase called out excitedly and ran toward the woman in the room.
Mason followed right behind.
Emily turned her head to look at the children running toward her and smiled gently.
She crouched down and hugged both children, asking softly, "Are either of you hurt?"
"No."
Chase shook his head.
He leaned on Emily's shoulder and quietly told her everything about their heroic deeds in detail.
Emily listened, her eyes brightening, a slight smile on her lips.
Her children were amazing!
"You're both wonderful!"
Emily kissed each of them on the forehead.
Praised by Mommy, both children smiled even more brightly.
Mason blinked his bright eyes and looked around, only then noticing there were many people in the room.
However, those people were all thrown in a corner, piled up high like building blocks. Everyone's face was beaten black and blue, unrecognizable.
And on top of this pile was a naked man with swollen eyes, a crooked nose, and blood at the corner of his mouth.
Did Mommy do all this by herself?
Mommy is amazing!
"Alright, let's go home."
After checking that the children had no injuries, Emily felt relieved. She picked up both children and walked toward the door.
"Hey!"
The man who had been barely alive suddenly shouted hoarsely as Emily was about to leave, "Ghost Wolves won't let you go!"
Emily stopped. She looked back at the man and sneered, "Then I'll be waiting."
With that, Emily left with the children.
"Ms. Johnson."
Claire had been nervously waiting outside the door after arriving. Seeing Emily come out with the two children, she breathed a sigh of relief and came forward.
"Ms. Johnson, I'm so sorry. It's all because of my carelessness..."
"Don't apologize."
Emily shook her head, stopping Claire from continuing.
"Shadow Nexus took business from Ghost Wolves before, and they've been looking for a chance to get back at us. The false alarm at the mall was probably their doing too, so it's not your fault. You've already done great."
"But it was still my carelessness. If only I'd been more alert."
Claire sighed.
Emily raised an eyebrow. Looking at Claire's guilty expression, she smiled, "Since you say it's your fault, then tonight you're punished to cook dinner for the kids to comfort their wounded hearts."
"Claire is going to cook?"
Chase's eyes widened, and even Mason blinked his big eyes, looking at Claire curiously.
After living at Elysian Residences for so long, he still hadn't eaten Claire's cooking.
"Yes, Claire will be in charge of tonight's dinner."
"Great! I want charcoal-grilled steak!"
Chase cheered and eagerly started ordering.
"Charcoal-grilled steak is really hard to make, but I'll try my best to satisfy you."
Claire smiled and patted both children on the head.
Afterward, the three returned to Elysian Residences together.
Thora also knew about what happened today.
But she was just a doctor, not as skilled in combat as Claire, so to avoid getting in the way, she could only wait at home for news.
Now seeing both children return safely, she breathed a sigh of relief.
That evening, to help the two frightened children calm down, Claire personally cooked a table full of delicious dishes.
Chase excitedly took several photos of the food with Emily's phone, asking Emily to remember to show them to Jasper.
"Mommy, how is Jasper doing at the Thomas family? Is anyone bullying him?"
At the dinner table, Chase leaned against Emily's leg and asked curiously.
Hearing Chase's question, Mason also put down his bowl and chopsticks, staring at Emily intently.
"Him? With me there, no one can bully him. Besides..."
Emily remembered the scene of James being tormented by Jasper last time and couldn't help laughing.
"I think he's actually having too much fun to think of home."
Chase pouted unhappily, "Is that family really that fun? Next time I see him, I have to ask him properly - do you still remember me at Elysian Residences?"
The three adults at the table couldn't help laughing at Chase's childish words.
