Chapter 169

Chapter 169
Ximena

“Then let's go find out what it is,” Carmine said, clenching his fist tightly as he took a step forward, but I was quick to pull him back, making him stare at me with furrowed brows.

“Listen,” I said in a stern voice, making him pause for a while as the thunderous sounds of soldiers echoed from a distance. “They’re still coming. We can’t afford to be caught now,” I spat at him.

“But we also can’t afford to waste any more time, Ximena,” he shot back at me.

“I know that, Carmine,” I replied, turning my gaze to the soldiers. “Everyone… follow me, this way,” I said, directing them in the opposite direction.

“Why are we going back? Isn't this where we just came from?” Rogan asked, confusion etched in his voice.

“No, Rogan, we are going to get a disguise,” I fired at him.

“Disguise? Where?” Carmine asked.

I turned my gaze in his direction, curling my lips up in a smile. “You ask really funny questions - my lord,” I retorted sternly with a smirk on my face, a kind reminder of who I was and what I addressed him as during my time here as a maid.

“Right!” he muttered softly.

We took a shorter route back to where my suffering all began - THE OMEGA’S DEN.

“Ah…” I sighed deeply as I stared at the building, “it's been quite a long time since I last came here with everything that’s happened so far,” I said.

“Where's this place?” Carmine asked with furrowed brows.

I snapped my gaze towards him in disbelief, “Please don't tell me you don't have the slightest idea of what this place is?” I sneered.

He looked down at me and then back to the building in front of us. “I'm sorry, am I supposed to?” he asked with creased brows.

“Of course you are. This is the Omega's Den? Where I was thrown into to suffer for the longest after Damie’s rejection… please don't play this card with me right now, Carmine,” I fired at him.

“I promise you I don't, Ximena. I never even had an idea that a den existed for just omegas. But I do know of the general maids' quarters,” he replied, his voice firm and strong.

“What?!” I exclaimed softly. “So all my suffering here could've been avoided?” I mumbled under my breath, turning my gaze to Carmine.

“Uhm… I know you both are having some time to yourselves right now, but can we go back to the plan of getting that disguise? There are some people who really need this saving. Look!” Rogan said, cutting in sharply, pointing towards a window.

I followed his hands as I locked eyes with some soldiers from my pack taking some of Carmine’s soldiers down the stairs of the castle, looking so tired and wounded.

“Steven!” Carmine yelled through gritted teeth as he stared at his head of soldiers, looking so bruised and weak. “Okay, now that's enough talking, Ximena. Let’s go in there,” he snarled.

“Alright,” I muttered softly, “this way.” I said as we made our way inside the den. “Here,” I said, pointing to the tiny room which belonged to Chris before you know… I thought. “This is where I stayed,” I said the minute we got inside, but unfortunately, the room couldn't contain everybody as some of the soldiers waited outside.

“While I was here, after Chris's death, which I thought was real at the time, I took out time to go through his stuff and realized he was fond of keeping, or should I say stealing, worn-out clothes from soldiers after every war and amending them. I don't know why he did it though, but I guess he has always dreamed of being a soldier even as an omega, but too bad he might still die after I'm done with my uncle,” I said with shrugged shoulders as I brought down his box of clothes, ransacking through it and bringing out all the available uniforms.

“So what are you thinking?” Carmine asked.

“Well… I'm thinking we could disguise as soldiers and go in. It's a good thing almost all the soldiers in this town wear the same uniforms with just the Pack's symbols as the difference, so this could actually work because Chris stripped out your Pack's symbol from all of these,” I said with a smile.

Rogan moved forward, lifting each of the uniforms up, closing his nose from the slight stench of blood that still oozed from it. “Pueh!” he exclaimed.

“Sounds like a plan then,” Carmine said.

“Yeah… great plan, Ximena, but how is everyone supposed to share just three uniforms?” Rogan asked sarcastically.

“Shit,” I cursed under my breath, raising the uniforms, realizing there were just three of them.

Carmine rushed to where I was picking up the uniforms, unsure if Rogan was serious about the numbers; when he realized they were actually just three, he slammed them on the ground, cursing under his breath as he raked his hair backward in frustration.

“I believe this is where y'all will need my help, y queen,” Carly's voice echoed as she stepped forward.

“What do you mean, Carly?” I asked with creased brows, confusion written on my face.

She sighed deeply, walking towards the uniforms as she picked up one. “Babe, could you put this on for me to see?” she asked, pointing one of the uniforms to Carmine.

“What? You... you want me to wear that?” he shot back at her, hands on his nose.

“Come on, Rogan, if not for the people we are here to save, at least do it because your mate asked,” Carmine urged.

“Don't tell me what to do, man!” he retorted.

“Oh dear goddess please, not now with these two… I can't deal with them!” I muttered under my breath, slamming my hands to my face.

“Fine!” he finally blurted out, grabbing the uniform from her, went into the bathroom, and slipped it on. He came out minutes later with a frown on his face as he stared at Carly. “What now?” he asked with a scowl on his face, throwing his hands in the air.

Carly walked up to him, touching him lightly on the chest, and before we could even say ‘jack’, there were several other uniforms on the ground, looking all sparkling and new.

“What the?!” Carmine and I said in unison as we stared at Carly, who by this time was done reproducing the uniforms as she stared at us with a smile on her face.

“I can clone things, my queen,” she said, bowing lightly.

“Wow. This is amazing, Carly,” I said with widened eyes.

“It indeed is,” Carmine added softly.

“I'm glad I could help,” she replied.

“That's my mate,” Rogan said with a smile. “Come here, babe,” he said, approaching her with widened arms, reaching out for a hug.

“Uh-uh,” Carly said, taking a step backward. “Maybe when you change from that, it really stinks,” she said, holding her nose, making Rogan twist his face in a scowl.

The rest of us in the room bowed our heads lightly, letting out a light chuckle, trying hard not to laugh out loud. “Carly, why didn't you say anything?” I asked, trying to save Rogan from the current atmosphere.

“Well, I didn't see the need to at the time. Plus, it wasn't something I was really proud of, as Queen Aruka milked my owner from me by needing my blood for every spell she wanted to perform whenever she needed to clone something or someone,” she explained.

“Oh... could it be this was how she was able to make Chris become Rogan in the first place?” I asked, placing my hands on my chin.

Rogan’s eyes widened in realization as he stared at me. “Now I see why you two are mates. You might have just cloned your way into getting a mate, Carly. Congratulations,” I said with a light grin on my face.

“I love you even more now, baby,” Rogan said, and without any warning, he grabbed her and pulled her in for a kiss…

“Get a room, man,” Carmine fired at him, but Rogan just ignored him, giving him his middle finger as he kept on kissing his mate, making me let out a light chuckle and turning my gaze from them.

“Alright, so now that we have enough uniforms for everyone, shall we begin?” I asked.

“Sure, immediately,” Carmine replied as he urged the other soldiers to come grab one uniform each.

Soon we were done changing. Rogan and Carly were the last to get ready, and when they were done, we went back inside to join the other soldiers who were still parading the palace.

I gave out some instructions to make sure everybody was set at heart. “Here we go, Mother, please guide us on this path wherever you are,” I prayed inwardly.
