Chapter 184 Reunited With Sergio & Lenny
Chapter 184 Reunited With Sergio & Lenny
SANCIA
The last time I’d seen both my brother and cousin was three years ago. They’d grown into men, and it showed in the way they’d filled out their suits. Sergio still had his beard, which made me giggle. I was happy to see them, even if a part of me felt sad.
“Sancia,” my brother called before sweeping me into a big hug, laughing. I hugged him back, then hugged Lenny before leading them to a different table.
“How did you know about Giuseppe’s? I was surprised when you gave me this address,” Sergio said as we all settled into our chairs.
“He’s Papa’s friend, and I met him years ago. It’s the safest place I could think of, where Antonio wouldn’t think to look for me,” I lied.
Well, technically, it wasn’t all lies.
“Smart,” Lenny said, nodding.
“She’s always been a stubborn smarty-ass,” Sergio added with a grin.
“Pot, kettle, black,” I replied, smiling. My smile vanished just as a young man and a middle-aged woman walked through the door. I need to get them out of here before the men following them get through that door.
“Um, Sergio, do you think we can talk somewhere else?” I asked nervously. “I have so many things to discuss with you, and I’m honestly not comfortable talking here where everyone could see us.”
“Why are you? You don’t have to be afraid. I’m here,” Sergio said.
“I know, but I feel like Antonio’s men could be anywhere. And I don’t want to see that bastard ever again.” Unless it’s his last day on this earth before I send him to hell.
Sergio’s face hardened. “What did he do? Did he touch you?”
“It’s nothing. Can we just go somewhere else and talk?”
He and Lenny exchanged a look before he nodded.
“Come. There’s a room at the back we could use. We won’t be disturbed there.”
My stomach knotted as I led the way to the bedroom. I stepped inside first, then Sergio and Lenny followed. They’d barely crossed the threshold before Luca and Savio jumped into action.
Luca knocked Sergio out with the butt of his gun, then caught his body before he hit the ground. Savio did the same to Lenny.
“What the fuck!” I screamed, glaring at them both. “I told you not to hurt him, and you use a fucking gun?! What if he gets a concussion?”
Luca knelt beside them and checked their pulses. “They’ll live,” he said as I continued glaring at them.
Lorenzo jumped in, pulling me away before I could be tempted to attack them. Not that I could do anything to either of them.
“Oh, come on, Mia Tigre. This is the same man who was responsible for Fabio’s death. A concussion is the least of what he deserves.”
I glared at him. “He’s my brother, and you already know Antonio manipulated him. He didn’t know, okay?”
Lorenzo tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. “And that’s exactly why he’s still alive. He’s lucky I can’t afford to piss you off.”
I rolled my eyes before pushing him away. “And yet here we are, with you pissing me off.”
He grinned wickedly and dragged me back into his arms, his voice dropping seductively low.
“Pissing each other off is our love language.”
“Let go, I don’t…” My response was swallowed by a hot kiss that melted away both my anger and my ability to form a coherent thought.
“Capo?”
Savio’s voice startled me, reminding me that they were still here.
I tried to take a step back, but Lorenzo held onto me tightly before turning toward the man.
“Go on. Explain the situation to Giuseppe and get Saverino over here to help you. You already know what to do. Make sure you keep up the ruse. Don’t let them find out you’re not Sergio. Meet us at the safe house after you lose them.”
“Yes, boss,” Savio replied before bounding away.
“What are they going to do?” I asked impatiently.
“Savio and Saverino are going to lead them away before we make our move,” he explained. “Come. We’ll wait for Luca to get our car to the back alley so we can leave undetected through the back door,” he explained as he dragged me out before I could say anything.
He led me down a short hallway. There were two doors at the end. He opened the first one and guided me inside. Giuseppe’s office was just an ordinary office with a desk, a computer mounted on it, and two chairs.
There was also a two-seater and a door to the left, probably an ensuite. Just like the back room, it was clean, only much smaller. Diavolo guided me to the couch and sat down while I looked around the small room, still anxious.
“What do you say we have a quickie before it’s time to leave?” he asked with a wink, dragging me onto his lap and capturing my mouth in another passionate kiss.
His hands roamed over my body, making it impossible to remember why I was supposed to be angry with him.
“Do you ever think of anything else besides fucking me?” I breathed, only to gasp when he kissed the sensitive spot beneath my ear.
“I do,” he growled against my skin.
I raised an eyebrow.
“Eating you.” He smirked, his eyes heavy-lidded with need.
“Enzo…”
His kisses became more fervent, and I had to bite back another gasp.
“Fucking hell!”
The door opening and Luca’s voice made me jump. He stood by the doorway, his head turned away from us as if he’d walked into a crime scene.
“Can I not leave you guys alone for a while without coming back to find you trying to tear each other’s clothes off?”
My face flushed red, while Lorenzo groaned in frustration, glaring at him. “Luca, I swear to God, I’m starting to think you’re doing this deliberately. Either go confess to Giulia and stop fucking barging into my love life, or go back to the States.”
“Yes, Mr. Romeo,” Luca replied sarcastically.
Lorenzo’s eyes narrowed. “What the fuck was that?”
“It’s time. Sav just called me. They’re gone.”
I quickly jumped to my feet. Just like that, Lorenzo was back in business mode. The teasing smirk and heated looks were suddenly replaced by the cold, hard expression I knew so well.
He led me toward the last door from earlier, which opened into an alley. Lorenzo’s SUV was already parked there. When I walked closer, I realized Sergio and Lenny were already in the backseat, unconscious.
I climbed into the front passenger seat. Luca squeezed in with Sergio and Lenny, while Diavolo got behind the wheel and drove us away.
We drove for almost fifteen minutes before arriving at one of Lorenzo’s safe houses. Savio and Saverino were already waiting. Luca and Savio carried Sergio and Lenny into the living room, and we followed closely behind.
The house was a single-story building in the busiest part of Venice. Its furniture looked a bit old, but all the electronic gadgets were up to date. The doors and windows looked sturdy.
We only had to wait a few minutes before both of them finally came around. Sergio woke up first. A couple of seconds later, Lenny stirred.
“What the hell?” Sergio swore when he realized where he was; he jumped to his feet and quickly reached for his gun. His eyes filled with betrayal when he realized it was missing.
“Sergio, I…” I started reaching to touch him.
“Don’t fucking touch me,” he warned angrily.
“Watch it,” Lorenzo snapped, voice dangerously low. “Don’t talk to her that way.”
“I’ll talk to her however the fuck I want. She’s my sister before you made her betray her own blood.”
“Shut the fuck up before I knock your teeth down your throat, you little piece of shit,” Lorenzo spat. “Nobody is betraying anybody.”
“Tell that to my aching skull.”
“Shut the fuck up, both of you!” I shouted. “Can you all stop with the macho bullshit?” she
“Sergio, I know you’re angry, but it’s not what you think.”
“Sancia, you lied to me, let them knock me out and kidnap me. What the hell do you want me to think?” he demanded, still angry.
“I’m so sorry, Sergio. I had to,” I replied guiltily.
He rubbed the back of his head before looking at his fingers. They came away with a little blood.
My eyes immediately snapped toward Lorenzo, glaring at him.
“Did you also have to knock me out with a fucking gun?” he spat.
I grimaced. “I’m sorry about that, Sergio. Someone just can’t help being petty.”
Lorenzo shrugged, completely unrepentant. “Baby, that wasn’t me being petty. Trust me.”
And honestly, I couldn’t blame him. Sergio not knowing the truth didn’t erase the fact that Fabio was still dead.
“Care to explain why we’re here?” my brother asked, surprisingly more amenable now that he’d managed to calm down.
I exchanged a glance with Lorenzo before turning back to Sergio. “Well, we needed to talk to you…”
I hesitated. “…without them knowing.”
