Chapter 415 Azy
Chapter 415 Azy
AUDREY
“During that time, I fell in love with Azriel. He was kind, clueless and simple. I did not feel lonely any longer because of him. One night, under the stars, he had learnt to speak a bit now, but he was not too good.”
There they were, laying on the grass, backs to a tree, talking. Well, Lumiara was doing most of the talking while Azriel just listened, nodding along. Then, Lumiara stopped talking, she turned her head to look at Azriel, her eyes swept over his strong, handsome features, his lips. She could not help herself, she tried to deny the attraction she felt for him, for years.
She was not meant to be human, she was not meant to give him a human form, nor was she meant to fall in love with him. Without thinking Lumiara leaned in and kissed Azriel’s lips. Azriel did not know how to react, he did not know what it meant. Wolves did not kiss.
Lumiara pulled back, noticing he was not kissing her back.
“Sorry, what was that?” Azriel asked innocently, confused.
“A kiss. It means I like you,” Lumiara tried to explain. “You are supposed to kiss me back, Azy.”
“Because I like you?” Azriel asked.
Lumiara nodded. “Only if you really do.”
Azriel leaned in and tried to kiss her. His lips were stiff and his eyes were opened, earning a laugh from Lumiara. She taught him how to kiss her properly, night after night, under the stars she crafted. Until one night, they went all the way, Azriel had pinned Lumiara to the ground of the forest and entered her, pounding into her as his dark curls bounced with each thrust.
“The old woman knew something was off but she did not question it. She simply treated us like her children. Months after we made love countless times, I found I was with child. I had morning sickness, every symptom of a pregnancy. But my baby was not normal, nothing remained the same after that. I was never meant to turn myself into a human, I was never meant to turn Azriel human, nor was I meant to fall in love or mate with a wolf, but I had. I felt guilty for taking Azriel from his pack. And so, I turned the rest of his pack members human as well. Together, Azriel and I taught his pack to live like the humans, but they possessed abnormal strength and agility. They lived together with the humans.”
The image shifted to wolves carrying timber from the trees, helping to build better structured houses to fight the weather, drinking together, Living in harmony.
“Until the night I was to deliver my baby. I had been pregnant for 9 months, a normal term of human pregnancy. But on that night, the fates visited me with a grave curse. I had broken so many rules in my bid to rid myself of my loneliness. It was against the rules of the realms for a goddess to live amongst the mortals, to tamper with their lives and to become one herself.”
Everything turned dark. In a hut, as Lumiara screamed with each pain from contraction, the three sisters of fate stood before her, laying her punishment, the prophecy.
“For there will be one born from chaos, forged from the ruins and the ashes of the ages. He will be the chosen one, the one to host the darkness. He will be engraved with the lines of the goddesses’ touch and the fates will bow to him. But he will be the one to bring forth the carnage that will end the world that began under his feet. His light, her darkness. Every darkness needs a light but his will be lost in time. Betrothed to the darkness, one with it. The cycle will go on till the darkness finds the light, to be one eclipse. For at the end, blood will flow.”
“Everything was ruined. When my baby was born, he was born with dark markings over his stomach, neck and back. Time passed quickly. I had begun to believe that the fates would not follow through on their curse, that it meant nothing. Until my son, Darius was 7 years old.”
In front of me was a little boy, hair full of wild, golden brown locks covering his eyes, his small bare feet padding along the sand. Night time fell and the white moon was replaced with a blood red moon. Little Darius turned and once his eyes landed on the moon, his body began to convulse. Lumiara rushed to him, trying to help him but there was no use.
His once onyx eyes were overpowered by molten gold hue, his body began to break and bend with the sickening sound of broken bones and torn muscles.
Lumiara stumbled back, caught by Azriel. They both watched their son shift into a dark, large wolf, gold eyes peering into their souls. His canines were sharp, long, and his claws stretched.
“That day marked the start of the carnage. Darius went manic, he killed so many people, ripped them to shreds. The air was thick with blood and smoke. Whatever he did not eat, he burnt, what he did not burn he caused the ground to cave in on it. And right in front of my eyes, Darius killed his father, my Azy.”
It felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. Fear gripped me as I watched Darius grab hold of his father and rip him apart, like he was nothing. My knees gave out as I watched.
Lumiara tried to stop him, she waved her hand, attempting to use her powers to restrict him but it did not work. Instead she felt a pull, a force taking her back up to her dwelling place, stripping her of her humanity.
