Chapter 49 Inside a Marriage
"My money is not or businesses is not the concern of the government," Lilac said.
"So, you are refusing to answer because it happened or it did not?" Agent Rudder asked.
"Ma'am, there was a shoot out at the RedJade Bank the night before, are you aware?" Agent Miller asked.
"Are they involved with what happened to me? Do you suspect they are the same people?" Lilac asked.
"The investigation is still ongoing. I am just curious if you bank here," Agent Miller asked and Lilac frowned.
"Since you have no questions about the accident, and want to fish into business information, you should take your leave and return with a court order. Security!" Lilac called for the guard and Rudder seemed to notice the anger in Lilac's eyes.
"Alright, we will get out of your hair, Ma'am," Miller said as the door opened and the guard who had been patched up stepped in.
"See them out," Lilac ordered and the Agents quickly nodded and left.
As the doors shut, Lilac closed her eyes.
She hated how quickly the rumors of the accounts her grandfather being accessed had spread. She considered why her grandmother had done this. Lilac had reason to believe Micheal did not know she was the one who had a right to inherit the account. That only means her grandmother lied. Seeing how fast attention has been drawn to the accounts being accessed, it is possible Micheal knows and she is cleaning up. Lilac sighed tiredly and closed her eyes only to open them a second later when she heard the doors to the hospital room open again.
Eric walked in. His face looked stiff. Lilac had a feeling just by glancing at him, that he was angry.
Eric's eyes wept over her, taking in her injuries.
"You missed the agents," Lilac said, closing this eyes again.
"They are irrelevant. You should sleep till you are transfered," Eric said.
"Transferred?" Lilac asked, her eyes flying open. "Would any hospital be safer? Are they not all the same?"
"Right, they are all the same. That is why you are snot moving to another hospital You need to be taken somewhere safe," Eric said.
"It's my grandmother, isn't it?" Lilac asked and Eric nodded. He saw her sneer and look away when he confirmed her suspicions.
"She is probably panicking. The agents asked if I bank with RedJade Bank. They asked if I had received any inheritance lately. It seems the news that someone accessed the accounts has spread. If so, can you guess if Micheal also knows?" Lilac said.
"Again, I will do my own investigation, okay?" Eric said, his voice laced with frustration. He ran his hand through his hair and turned away. Lilac knew it was best not to tick this mad man off, but she felt there was some benefits to hammering the idea in his head over and over again.
"I just found something flawed about you. You lack the ability to judge people well. You know that, right?" Lilac asked and Eric paused and looked her way, a sneer on his face.
"It was only a matter of time someone found out the account has been accessed. But you can no longer just walk around without care. You are lucky not to have been caught by your grandmother today, but who is to say what will happen next time? From now on, your movements must first be cleared by me," Eric said, looking at Lilac in the hospital bed; his eyes turning dangerously dark. He could not explain how scared he had been when he heard she had been attacked. If someone had told him he would react that way days ago, he would have scoffed.
Lilac became uncomfortable. But she did not refuse h at this moment.
"Or maybe I should lock you up. Maybe it would solve all my problems if I locked you up instead," Eric said stepping forward.
"Careful Eric, we have very little good impressions about each other. Let's not make it worse," Lilac warned and Eric paused. His anger seemed to vanish as though it was never there. He for some reason took her words seriously and that made her frown.thisnman was getting more unpredictable as the days passed.
Lilac's transfer was handled very quickly. She was hoisted into a helicopter and flown across the city.
The helicopter landed in their backyard and she was transfered inside ro her room. All she needed medically, was in that room as far as Lilac could see.
Lilac remained absentminded. The impact of the accident had rattled her internal organs so she was not allowed to eat solids just yet.
Lilac soon felt tired and went to sleep. Only when her eyes closed did someone step into her room. The person watched her for a moment, moved around the room, before leaving.
In another room, a woman in white sat with legs crossed while a man sat beside her. The sound of the helicopter landing had soon seized.
The man seemed to be holding onto his glass too tightly, the veins on his hand protruding greatly.
"You will break that glass," the woman commented and the man took a swing of his scotch, burning his throat in the process. But he did not mind. He liked the burn.
"Jealousy does not look good on you, Zach," the woman in white said.
"Did you leave your glasses at home, Lara? Why are you seeing things?" Zach asked. At his words, a smile slipped from her lips.
"You are just bad at hiding your expression. If one is not careful, they might think you are ein love with Eric," the woman named Lara answered.
Zach paused for a good few seconds, before he filed his glass again. "Eric is too busy with that woman when my sister is in a coma," Zach said through his teeth.
"A wife and a mistress are two different entities" Lara said, putting down her tablet and staring coldly at Zach.
"What nonsense are you sprouting? My sister is not a mistress!" Zach declared, anger filling his eyes..
"Lilac was attacked on his way out, you know nothing about this, right?" Lara asked.
"You are crossing the line, Lara," Zach said darkly.
"With how much hatred you have for Lilac because your sister cannot marry Eric, it is not an odd assumption..." Lara started to say.
"Don't bring my late sister into this," Zach cut her off, slamming his glass onto the table.
"I will not do business with someone so risky. Not if you are trying to offend Eric Black by that hatred you have for hai wife, and getting yourself killed," Lara said.
"Offend him? Eric does not care about that woman, so do not worry about my hatred," Zach said with a sneer.
"Hasn't your family benefited from your sister's coma! Why so much anger?" Lara got up that moment and adjusted her suit, "A word of advise, Zach. No one knows what is happening inside a marriage except those involved," she said and walked away.
