Chapter 44 Threatened By Old Madam Hart
Lilac finally understood why the old woman had called now of all times. She had probably received 'evidence' from the surveillance footage of the restaurant and text messages from June trying to gain the upper hand in the old woman's eyes. The old woman probably called her so quickly to stop her from doing anything. Lilac scoffed. She had already anded this all to the police and had been talking to a lawyer.
She did this before she had even stopped foot in that restaurant to confront them. it was a little too late.
But for her grandmother to call, the police must have appeared. Was someone arrested? June? Lilac guessed.
“What a funny statement. June, is the one who did something wrong and was arrested by the police, yet the way your mouth is sprouting it, someone could think I own the police,” Lilac answered.
“Your sister is getting having her vow renewal next week. You need to be there,” the older woman said.
Lilac felt as though she had just heard something ridiculous. This old woman was biased towards this step sister since young. There was no need to assume she would ask what happened, but ordering her around? On what grounds?
Even if she explained , Lilac was sure she would not take her side, and besides, Eric's words about her family's lineage crossed her mind. She had always thought she was the black ship that was why the family treated her so. But what if she was not? What if there was something deeper going on?
“She still dares to renew her vows? Oh… is she pregnant again? Is that child Micheal's this time? It seems you are all bored. Is it that June does not want to have a good ceremony withthe trash she picked up and is looking for a reason to destroy the event, right? Why would I give you such a free service?” Lilac said.
“Why would you say that about your nephew!? What if it was your child?” the woman scolded.
“Hey, Old Madam. Hart. Don’t you dare raise your voice at me, Micheal is the one who tricked your daughter into marriage, I wonder what for? And even conjoined a child that is definitely not related to him to do it. You probably figured this out. But you have all offended the black family after that stunt and are clinging to Michael like a leach. And don't mention children with me, I am definitely not having one," Lilac said and Eric finally glanced her way. For some reason, be was bothered about how dismissive she was.
"Besides, why would you any me at her event? What makes you think I would not dare to go to June’s vow renewal with a spiked club?” Lilac asked and the woman on the other end was shocked speechless.
June had said that Lilac had changed, and she had heard from their last conversation just how much, but it still threw her off when this girl dared to raise her voice at her.
“What did you call me? I am your grandmother!” the elderly woman raged.
“Oh Shut it, you are abusing the night. What the family had done to me these past few days? You dare call yourself my grandmother, have you asked if I agree to your nonsense? Where was my grandmother when June under Micheal's orders orchestrated to frame me against the Black family? Where was this grandmother you are calling your self so proudly, when June and your familycollaborated with people to get me drugged and sent to Eric's bed? You probably supported each action, you probably made it all my fault for the drugging incedent.” Lilac sneered at her.
“You have really grown wings; You would even talk to me like this?” Old Madam Hart fumed, “Come back home this instant! This matter with the police ends now. You will not shame the family name!”
“Why should I do what you say? Do you think you are an empress from ancient times? Do you think the police will stop if you want to? Your precious granddaughter had done this before. Who knows what she would do if I stopped? Besides, why shouldn't your family suffer? I want chaos. I want all who has liked at me even a second wrong to have sleepless nights!” Lilac said and Eric glanced her way and looked away.
Lilac chuckled lightly. Her voice danced into Eric's. He had to admit he liked this woman wild and feisty.
“You hate us all?” Old Madam Hart asked coldl.
“Of course I hate you. I have been asking the devil why he has not come to take you for a long time. Even a disgusting thing like you can live to this age, it is proof that there is no god! If you have said what you need to say, get off my phone,” Lilac sneered.
“Alright then, you can forfeit the heritage your grandfather left behind for you, since you can't be obedient. Let it go to your sister!" The old woman declared. Lilac glanced at Eric.
“Oh? But if Grandpa left me anything, I would have known, right?" Lilac said. She immediately understood the old woman was fishing for information. Eric had already told her she was the one who attacked yesterday. She must have wanted access to those accounts a long time ago and was weary that Lilac had gotten to it before he had.
“If your grandfather left anything behind, you will need my permission to get to it, you know that right?” she asked.
“But did grandfather trust you that much? I don't recall him trusting you at all. But then again, he died too early. Hmm thanks for telling me. I will talk to my lawyer to find out if he left anything," She said.
"Do not cross the line!" The old woman warned, "You are too young to make an enemy out of me."
“Old witch, I see youhave you lost your mind. Don't worry too much about my things. And as June and the Hart family, no need to worry about rumors of a fall out spreading. I have no intention of stoping it. If people are spreading stories about them, shouldn’t I take out some gifts to thank them for their public service? Maybe even go around and bow a bit, probably donate money to sew a wedding dress for their children. Why would I come over and help you dispel rumor? If you are done opening your dirty mouth, go back to that grave you crawled out from and have some eternal rest!” she ended the call.
By the time she finished talking, she was completely calm. She had gotten a lot from that conversation. It seems the old lady had more in her possession that she should. Alright then. Shae had thought proving her family wasn't an enemy to the Blacks was the only way to take them down. Now, she had other ideas. Lilac chuckled lightly, her voice like bells in Eric's ears.
Lilac had completely forgotten that Eric was in the car.
“Just because killing is legal, does not mean there are not other ways to have you returned you to your maker,” Lilac muttered under her breath.
