Chapter 34 A Bitter Deal
By the time Lilac was done with paperwork, Eric had been moved to a private ward. Lilac clicked her tongue and stepped into the room to find Eric who was supposed to be unconscious trying to sit up.
"What are you doing?" Lilac hurried to stop him, then paused, "You know what? At least you are not dead. I will send you the invoice of this bill so you can pay me back," she said and turned to leave.
"Leaving your husband here alone? What do the doctors need a quick signature or I die by mistake?" Eric asked and she sneered.
"Then I will wear black. I find, I wear black quite well. So it is in my best interest of you due faster," Lilac said reaching for the door.
"Well, I am not dead yet, so it is best you stay, if you do well, wouldn't our divorce go much faster?" Eric asked and Lilac paused.
"Are you promising to give me a divorce if I do what you want?" She asked.
"I can't stay here. Seeing how all the nurses are calling me Mr Black every second, it means people will soon know I am here. Take me back home," Eric said.
"I will call your family to handle this," Lilac's said.
"No! Call no one!" He said sharply, nearly startling he rout of her skin.
"You take me. Besides, we are not going to the family home. Just do this Lilac and I promise to give you a timeline on the divorce you want so badly," Eric said and Lilac considered hai words.
Eric was a very powerful man. The only reason she ha not filed for divorce herself was because it would be useless. He would drag it out forcing it to go to court. And the moment it reached the courts, he would have more control. His power and reach was far spread into the government. Having him willingly let her go was the fastest way.
"Alright. But you should atleast stay the night to be observed," Lilac said.
"No. We leave now!" Eric insisted and Lilac took a deep breath to calm herself and walked over to help him stand. His shirt was destroyed since the doctors had cut open to reach his wound, but his coat was still there. She dropped it over him and helped him out the door.
She was not sure what he was involved in and honestly, she did not care. But it was safer for him at home. Lilac flagged down a taxi and helped him in.
"What happened to your car?" He asked and lilac raised a brow.
"What car?" She asked.
"You took me to the hospital also in a taxi before. Why were you not driving?" He asked and she frowned.
"I have never had a car," she answered darkly then turned away. She could not believe that the man she had a crush on this long, a man she had married did not even know this.
Eric was taken aback. He recalled that he had never truly seen her drive.
"We are stopping by this address," Eric said suddenly, handing a note to the driver and Lilac paused.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because you will be picking something up for me," he answered and Lilac immediately refused.
"No! I never agreed to that," She protested.
"They are expecting me, but I can't go this way. But they will hand it to my wife. I have called him, he will be meeting us there," Eric said.
"No means no. Do you think I care if you can pick up what ever? Your life, your business is not my concern, Eric," Lilac sneered. Eric looked at her silently, the light from the streets flashing across her eyes. He could tell she meant every word.
"What do you want in return?" He asked and she paused. Lilac could not believe he was bargaining with her. This made her understand the value of this supposed meeting. She thought it through within seconds. Would she ever get another chance to ask Eric for a favor?
"And you will do whatever I ask?" She asked him. She sounded skeptical and Eric could hear it.
"Yes," he answered.
"And how would I know?" She asked.
"There is no way to know. We are going to make a house visit, Lilac, and you are picking up something for me. Whether you get something out of this or not depends on you," Eric said.
Lilac changed her palm as she stared into his eyes in the dark. They light up, making him look predatory. She was suddenly aware of how large he was on the other side of the seat. He basically filled the back seat.
She wanted a guarantee that he would not kill her, but now that she thought about it, there was no way to guarantee this, so she changed her mind.
"Five million," she said. Since she could not be sure he would not kill her at the end of everything, she would get enough money to escape him.
"That is some expensive courier service," Eric said with one brow raised.
"Take it or leave it," Lilac shot back.
"Fine. Five million."
The taxi drove towards an upscale street where a few dark cars were waiting. Lilac immediately recognized Jim and told the taxi driver to stop. She paid and they got off.
"Sir!" Jim rushed over to help Eric and Lilac let go of Eric, handing him over to Jim immediately. Her behavior rubbed Eric the wrong way but he swallowed his dissatisfaction.
"I am fine, just a bit injured," Eric said.
"But, you can't go in injured, it could get dangerous," Jim protested.
"It's fine, she will," Eric said and Lilac immediately regretted agreeing.
Jim nodded and turned to Lilac.
"Ma'am, our men will go with you. You only need to declare your identity, and ask for the delivery. That is all," Jim said. Eric's eyes stayed on Lilac's form as she nodded with a look of irritation.
"Let's get this over with," she said and with a group of Eric's people leading the way, she walked away. She really regretted it. How coudlsbeh trust that if something went wrong Eric's people will protect her? Lilac cursed inwardly. This was the most risky five million she had ever made.
She cursed Marcus in her head as she was led inside a brutality style house by Eric's' men. A guarf Jim called Wolf led the way. Behind them, the men carried large wooden crates as they made their way into the massive mansion.
A small Asian woman stepped down from the staircase and looked at the men.
"Eric came?" She asked.
"No Madam Lee. He sent his wife though. He said he added a little extra. Something you will love. He asked about a package. He sent his wife here to bring the package to him if you liked what you saw," Wolf said, gesturing towards Lilac, as the crates were carried in.
"Oh?" Madam Lee asked and hurried down the stairs as her long robe swooped around her.
"Open them," she ordered and Marcus' men opened the wooden crates. The moment Lilac turned as set eyes on the inside of the crates, she froze.
Each large crate held a fully grown naked bloody man.
