Chapter 30 Imagine if she survived
The room went silent as Eric took Lilac away. No one could believe what they had just heard. Eric did not care a my about his family's horror, he was more interested in taking Lilac away.
He marched upstairs till he got to their room, kicked opened the door and dropped her unto the bed like a sick of potatoes.
"Haven't your had enough?" Eric scolded.
"No! I haven't!" Lilac insisted, making to stand again, only to be pressed down into the bed, by Eric with one arm.
"Stop it, this instant! You don't get to be angry with him when you really did hand over the bidding information!" Eric said.
"You seem to think you can you anything with me, can't you? That is why you do not feel any remorse for what you done, right?" Lilac asked.
Eric turned away. Sneering.
"Do you deny you had given over the bid?"
Do you believe I would hand over even your family's soul, if used as bait? Who had you the right? You who could not even protect your family and fell fros stupid scam that got you to the Altar with me dare try to use me?" Lilac sneered, but Eric did not answer. He walked out the door to fag a maid, hoping to ask for Ice for Lilac, but as he gets to the door, a maid is already there with some ice.
As Lilac stared at his broad back, she felt a disgust fill her. Those broad back she once felt such allure towards, a scene of his back that once tickled the butterflies in stomach now disgusted her. She wondered how she had ever fallen in love with him. Was she blind? It really is true what they say; that the scales of illusion falls off a person's eyes the moment love jumps out the window.
Eric looked at the maid at the door sharply and she flinched.
"Madam left this down stairs," the maid quickly explained and Eric took the ice and returned to the room before slamming the door shut.
When his eyes met Lilac's again, he paused at the disgust in them when she looked at him.
"You are suddenly clever, aren't you?" Eric asked handing her the bag of ice.
"Did you give the Milton family our bidding numbers that night, Lilac?" Eric asked straight forwardly, his eyes boring into hers.
"Now, how would I know your family's bid numbers?" Lilac asked aith a sneer, her shoulders shrugging slightly.
"You tell me, Lilac. How do you know this? I decided the number only that night and as far as I know, you were already taken by then," Eric said.
Lilac did not care what he said, there was no way to prove how she had gotten that number.
"I guessed," Lilac answered offhandedly.
"You can guess what I am thinking now?" Eric asked with a sneer.
"What? Was your mind supposed to be hard? Event he one who orchestrated our marriage can guess your mind, how can I who claim to be your wife fall behind?" Lilac asked.
"Still insistimg someone orchestrated our marriage, huh? Isn't that your parents?" Eric asked.
"They are not that smart. But I have to say, if they can use you, then it is best you just hang your head and let them do what they want with you," Lilac said, the notioned towards the door.
"Get out!" She said. Eric stared at her for a moment, seeing the anger settling in her eyes, he decided to calm the matters downstairs first. So, he walked out the door, slamming it behind him.
Eric had not walked far up the stairs when he received a call from his assistant, Jim.
"Yeah?" Eric asked, answering the call.
"Sir, I checked the footage and then went through some of the boats. Though I have arranged a crew to search the sea floor, I have recovered some crates on some boats it seemed madam did not find. They should be the same as the once on the see floor," Jim said.
"And? What is in it?" Eric asked. He could guess weapons from watching Lilac fight and pull out a gun in the security footage, but he wanted to know what kind.
"Sir, weapons. I had it traced, but they link back to some weapons that went missing a few years ago and were rumored to have been in the hands of some terrorist groups," Jim answered.
Eric's mind spun. Those boats were borrowed only to Micheal. As much as he hates Lilac's family, he never had ill will towards Micheal. But now that Eric thought about it, Lilac's sister and family who claimed Lilac had done all that years ago to marry him would not like Lilac. He now knew that the would never say anything good about her, so they could have lied about he involvement. But what about the evidence he got his hand on?
Eric glanced back up the direction reading upstairs. The boat framing failed, so he opted to take Micheal's deal instead because he was at the time, in a hurry. If not for the frame job, he would not chose Micheal. He would not chose the harolds either. This reminded him of He and Lilac's marriage.
For some reason, Lilac's words crossed his mind. She had said he had been fooled. On the island she said everylme benefited from their mate except her.
Eric was sure of a few things; someone is needed a frame job on them soon and Lilac wa snot involved. The frame job affected how his family reacted to so they did their deal with.
Eric had a head ache. He rubbed his temple tiredly.
"Sir? Sir?" Jim asked.
"Go ahead," Eric said.
"I found out who had faking overboard. We have very little record of him and his hire. All his references lead to dead ends," Jim said.
"Someone got him on the ship for those boats. Concentrate on the boats," Eric instructed and ended the call.
"Eric," he heard someone call to him and saw his mother at the bottom of the stairs.
"Mom, what ever you want to say..." Eric started.
"Youshouod divorce her," Tamara said to him and Eric stilled.
"No, not now," he answered.
"So you want to. At the very least stay away from her, till you are ready," Tamara said.
"You think she will harm me? Or you think she can harm the family?" Eric asked.
"No, because you will regret what you did to her some day. And it is best if the day does not come. You have gone too far over that attempted abduction years ago," Tamara said.
"You can forgive her, but are we supposed to?" Eric asked.
"I didn't need to forgive her. She didn't do it. I don think anyone in this house feels they need to forgive her. Some where in our minds we know she is not the one who tried to have me abducted," Tamara said.
"And you know this, how? You saw the evidence," Eric started to say, when his brothers walked over and paused at the sight of their mother.
"The evidence felt wrong the moment I saw her. Eric, she does not like you enough to go that far. If it is because of what happened to the Harold family daughter, then let it go. I know you and your brothers, even your father have another reason for accepting a marriage with her, but can you men stop being stop being so stupid?" Tamara asked sounding tired.
Eric recalled Lilac saying the same thing. She did not like him enough to do that.
"I will handle this, mother. Don't worry too much," Eric assured her.
"No, you will mess things up. You are smart boys, yes. But you al lack the ability to understand people. Even your wives can tell just by looking at her, Lilac does not like you Eric. The only woman around you crazy enough to orchestrate an abduction to again your affection, is Tessa Harold," Tamara said.
"But she is in a coma because of that abduction," Daniel countered.
"And because of that, all three of you keep paying compensation to her family. Now Imagine she actually survived," Tama said and walked away.
