Chapter 23 A woman with nothing
Lilac was pressed into then chair and strapped down with iron clamps.
She looked up at the man as he approached and stood before her.
"Who are you and What do you want?' Lilac asked.
She could smell a bit of iron and hear water dripping from afar. The familiar dripping sound filled her heart with fear.
The men rolled over a tray of familiar torture tools.
"Madam, do not be so afraid. Your husband and the Harold family are about to bid on a very important production right and we would prefer if they withdraw from the bid." He said.
"I canct help you there," Lilac said.
“As long as you tell your husband to withdraw, he should, or else we would send you to him peice by peice.
Her husband? With draw from a big for her? Lilac did not know what this bid was, and rightly since she knew very little about Eric’s work. but she knew Eric would never help her.
“We should call him to let him know you are here!” the man said, taking out Lilac's phone. She recognized it, except the screen was cracked.
"He will not help, you know. He will not care," Lilac told the man
“You really are pitiful. I hear you want to divorce him, but he refuses to let you go. What love Eric must have for you. Your husband will have to comply whether he likes it or not. If he successfully does his part and withdraws the Black family from the bid, he can take you back,”
Love for her? Lilac thought she had heard the biggest rubbish ever said.
"It seems you have been decieve. Eric would not care...no, he would probably be excited when you send him my body parts," Lilac said. She could tell the am. Did not believe her. He probably felt she would say anything to get out of this situation.
Lilac was so frustrated she laughed.
"So this is what he wanted. Eric would go so far for his revenge against me, right?" Lilac asked laughing tiredly.
The man but glanced at her and dialed her husband, Eric’s number.
As the phone rang, Lilac already knew what would happen next. What would they do to her if Eric did not withdraw from this bid?
She knew Eric, or better, she did not know him at all because, in three years of marriage, she was sure he would never do anything for her, and to withdraw something this important? Lilac was sure he would not do it. Even if he could, Eric would not. For some reason, her memory of this moment had returned. E rushing unrolled as it had in her past life.
When the call went through, a female voice sounded on the other side. Lilac recalled this voice. It was this moment in her last life when she had realized that back on the Island the event went on despite her abduction. Because no one had noticed she was gone.
“Who is this?” the person asked.
“Even if Eric had Ten million excuses, there is no way he could claim he does not have my number and even lesser you could claim you did not see who was calling.Put Eric on the phone,” Lilac answered. The other person went silent for a while before she answered.
“Mr. Black is busy at the moment and specifically instructed to not be disturbed, why don’t you leave a message with me?” the woman said.
“Oh? Eric does not want to be disturbed after he got my abducted? How nice. Should I congratulate him or maybe make him a cake with what is left of my fingersnif I manage to come home?" Lilac asked.
The woman on the other end sighed tiredly.
“Miss Woods, whatever is going on, Mr. Johnson has an important bid to make tonight and it will start in a while."
"I said, put him on the phone," Lilac said lightly. In her past life, she never got to speak to Eric and she did not expect to speak to him this time.
"Madam, As Mr Black's wife, you should understand how important this bid is, right?" the woman said.
"His wife is abducted, and calls for help, but you will not give the phone to him, right?” Lilac asked almost chuckling.
She knew this woman. She was one of Eric’s secretaries. Normally, she was very respectful but it was clear that no one who works for the Black family see her as important.
“Madam..." The secretary started
"There is no way Eric would not already know I have been abducted. He was probably informed when my vehicle was attacked. This means he wants me here,” Lilac said, "Tell Eric I will pay him back for using me today," Lilac said.
"Madam. I need to go" The secretary said and quickly ended the call.
Lilac looked straight at her capture.
"Like I said. You were used," she said.
"But you seem completely calm despite this. You do know that if he does not withdraw, you will not return home, right?" The man asked darkly.
"Eric probably knew you planned to abduct me and helped it happen. Was the abduction of me easier than you thought?" Lilac asked and the man paused. He felt that Lilac had a point. They had really thought taking A black would be hard but it was easy. Too easy.
"Those who hired you will be preoccupied thinking they have the upper hand, and if luck is on Eric's side be can take me out using your hands. Maybe use my death as a reason to screw you all over in the future. What an amazing man I married right?" Lilac asked with slight chuckle.
"You are so sure he will not care," the man said.
"Instead of worrying about Eric how about worrying about the bid? There are many ways to win a bid without the other party pulling out, right?" Lilac asked and he raised a brow.
She recalled in her last life the black family had won the bid. She recalled how much they had won it for. She was angry. She had atleast this information for her past. She could use it as she wanted.
"Make a deal with me. You send me home intact and I tell you the Back family's bid," Lilac said.
"And you would tell us? Why should we believe you?" The man asked.
"Because whether you like it or not, I am a woman with nothing. Even if you tortured me for eternity, no one will come for me. Now one will save me, no one will care. I have to save myself," Lilac said, breaking into a slight smile.
"Don't you just have to win the bid? I know how they won the bid and I have the exact number Eric will write down to win that bid. So Mr abductor, will you make this deal with me?" She asked him.
