Chapter 12 Stomping on a bug
"How dare you, Lilac! You will do as you’re told, do you understand me?!” Lilac knew that June was not used to her defying the family. The lies of actions taken for her benefit had crumbled and the usual excuses were not working. June felt Lilac is supposed to lie back and take it like she always had, every time she heard that they were doing it for her own good. But Lilac was not obeying.
Lilac felt a surge of anger rise within her, she took was offended by her excuse of a family. “What is so important about tonight? Is it related to the gift you sent to my husband’s family? You think I don’t know what you are about to do?”
June’s eyes narrowed, for a second she wondered if Lilac had found out about their plan, but the thought was quickly thrown to the back of her mind.
"You’re making a mistake, Lilac. If you don’t behave yourself tonight, there will be consequences," June warned.
"Consequences? Like what, will you frame my husband and his family for a crime?” Lilac snapped back..
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” June finally acdepted that Lilac knew something. When she saw the chill in Lilac’s eyes, she could not help but step backwards.
“No matter what you think you know, we will discuss it after tonight.” June said.
“Why? Wouldn’t it be too late then?” Lilac asked with a slight dark chuckle, “Besides, what I want to do you, tonight is maybe my only chance,” Lilac threw a punch suddenly, her fist connecting with June’s midsection. June doubled over, but Lilac did not stop. She tripped her to the ground and threw a kick, connecting again with June’s stomach.
June felt pain tear through her. When she tried to look up, she met Lilac's murderous eyes.
“You bitch dared to kill me? Have I been too nice all this while?” Lilac asked, going in for another kick. No matter how many times she kicked, she could not be satisfied. Her mind flashed with scenes of her laying at the bottom of the sea. This image on only made her kick more powerful. She recalled the moment she died and her anger only burned, giving her kick more strenght. June’s screams only fueled her. June folded into a ball, but Lilac proceeded to stomp on her fiercely.
“You like to plot against people, right?”
Lilac took a seat after few stomps to catch her breath.
“I wonder, who was the brain of all this, your husband, Michael, right?” Lilac asked. June was barely registering her words because of the pain, but when she heard Lilac’s accusations, her mind cleared slightly.
“I suspect so. Dad, mom, and yourself and not so smart,” Lilac said. Her words caused June who was struggling to sit up to laugh mockingly.
“Says the person who was drugged onto her husband’s bed,” June threw back those words.
“True,” Lilac responded, “But Isn’t that the same for you? You got drugged at a bar and slept with Michael,”
June’s eyes widened in horror at this, “Don’t sprout rubbish!” she shouted at the top of her lungs, struggling to get up from the floor. But before she could rise fully, Lilac threw another kick, sending her back down.
“But I always wanted to know, your daughter Emily, are you sure she is Michael’s?” Lilac asked to June’s utter horror. Her horrified look only made Lilac chuckle.
“Why do you look at me that way? It can’t be that you actually think that you will have sex with a random person when drugged, right? Unless he raped your unconscious form. You can believe it will be just like in those low budget dramas that you will become possessed and go at it wildly,” Lilac asked and broke out into laughter.
“Most people who take drugs for the first time just black out. I should know, I was drugged by you and mum. So, At most you were drunk. But how can you not recognize the man you slept with? who is the father of that child of yours? Does Michael know?” Lilac asked and June growled and jumped to her feet in anger, attempting to pounce on Lilac, but Lilac was faster.
With a swift movement, Lilac lashed out, her fist connecting with June’s stomach. June doubled over in pain again, gasping for breath as she crumpled to the ground.
“You should not be worried about me, June,” Lilac spat,. “You should be worried about yourself. After tonight, I am going to make sure your world crumbles to ash and that child of yours sleeps on the street."
With those words, she picked up an ash tray and slammed it on June's shoulder before stomping a few times on her legs till June screamed.
Lilac turned on her heel and stormed out of the room, leaving June crumpled on the floor behind her. If she knew the spider in her family well, she would be back in her corner of the ceiling very quickly. But this time, she would be too angry to think. She would lash out like the beast she was. And a spider that has forgotten its nest of webs to descend and fight like a gorilla will meet the sole of a boot.
